MATED TO THE MAFIA ALPHA WHO HATES ME
Ivy~
“Run!”
That was the only word my brain could form before something slammed into me from the back.
“Ahhh!” I cried out in pain as my body hit the ground hard. A wave of pain runs through my body.
My eyes closed as the pain hit me hard, as a naturally weak person, the pain doubled and tears rolled down my face even before I could stop it, but more than that, I felt fear for the unknown torture they would put me through.
“Where the hell do you think you’re going, you weak bitch?!”
A yell could be heard behind me and the next thing I felt was being yanked up and thrown to the ground again.
My eyes turned redder from the pain but I made sure to grit my teeth and endure the pain.
I didn’t want them to see me cry, I couldn’t let them see me weaker than I already was.
I looked at the familiar people who surrounded me. I let out a mocking smile as I recognised them. How could I not, when this wasn’t the first time being cornered and bullied by them?
“Are you mute?! Oh! I forgot you’re just a wolfless idiot and you’re scared of everyone!” The female among them said and the rest laughed out loud with her as if I was just a fun object they used in passing time.
My body trembled and I shifted back to hide my body from them. Whatever they said doesn’t hurt me anymore, I’ve come to terms with it and whatever they said wouldn’t get to me anymore!
I gritted my teeth at my thought but my eyes still couldn’t help but turn more blurry as tears gushed out.
Who would want to be wolfless if an option is given? Do they know the pain of seeing my mates shift and run around with their wolf while I hide in a corner watching them with yearning? The pain I feel from being taunted and bullied every day but had to endure because I dared not fight back? The pain—
“Oh? What— Are you crying? Who are you showing that pitiful face to? Do you want to seduce my brother because you have no mate? You’re such a bitch, just like your dead Traitors of parents who had killed the first son of our former Alpha!” Another teenager roared which snapped me out of my thoughts.
My eyes widened as irritation and pain filled me. I couldn’t help it anymore, the thought of my dead parents being insulted every time filled me with so much pain, my heart clenched as rage suddenly filled me, “My parents aren’t traitors and they didn’t kill anyone!”
The air froze after my words.
My chest heaved heavily, my eyes pierced through every one of them boldly.
“You dare yell at us?!” The first girl spoke and rushed towards me with so much rage and before I could dodge, a hard kick was thrown my way.
“Ahhh!” I gasp in shock and pain as I hold my stomach. My eyes rolled with so much pain. I couldn’t move, I could say nothing other than stare blankly at the leg that kicked me.
“You liar! Why deny it? Your parents collided with an outsider to betray our pack! They’re killers who had killed the Alpha’s brother!” The girl yelled and bent down to yank my hair up.
I looked at her weakly, I knew I was doomed. The moment I had yelled at them, I knew today might be my end, and sure, I’m right—
“Why didn’t you die along with them, huh?! You should die and stop contaminating the pack with your wolfless smell!” She yelled to my face, spat on me, then turned towards the boys who stood behind her like her protectors, “Beat this bitch to death and avenge the death of your Former Alpha’s son!”
My eyes went wide, my body trembled hard and as I shook my head pleadingly, “No, no! Don’t do that, please! Stop…Stop! Arghh!!”
My body fell to the ground as fists and kicks rained on me.
My skin tore, my bones cracked, and pain attacked not just my body but deep into my heart and soul. My eyes turned red, my body trembled as they kept on hitting, my legs curled up to my chest as I tucked my head in to protect it.
Pain… I felt pains everywhere, but I couldn't fight back, I couldn't yell or kick back, as the child of their pack traitors, I had learned about the rules of enduring whatever pain I was inflicted with.
My lips parted as I let out a soft painful groan.
After the death of my parents, I had lived under the painful treatment of the whole pack. I had to grow up learning how to hide myself from other children, how to protect my head when I was being beaten, and how to do the lowest jobs in the pack.
I have nothing. No wolf, no mate, no parents and also a pack that sees me as an enemy.
My eyes slowly began to close as the beatings were getting worse.
“It’s better to die right? Just maybe I’ll meet my parents.”
I let out a gentle smile. My breath grew weaker and weaker, and I knew if this continued for another few minutes, then I would be gone.
“Well…I’m tired…”
“Kill the bitch!” The girl’s order sounded in my ear and I closed my eyes tightly in expectation of what was coming, but—
“Stop! What’s going on here?!!”
A low growl, deep and sharp, like something torn from the throat of a beast sounded.
Everyone froze, including me.
The pain I was expecting didn’t come, the death I was hoping for didn’t take me. My eyes snapped open, but my breath was sharp and dry. I swallowed and inhaled, then tried to turn my head to the side.
“Who’s there?” One of the bullies called out, trying to sound brave.
But I could hear it, he wasn’t.
Another step sounded.
Then a figure emerged from the shadows of the trees. He was undeniably tall but his face was cloaked in a hood. His entire presence was commanding.
My wet bloodshot eyes trembled as they met his figure.
The grip on my arm instantly fell off.
“Back away,” the man drawled. So calmly, like a command even and my blood couldn't help but run cold after hearing him.
The fierce teenagers hesitated for a second, then backed off immediately.
“We didn’t know she was—”
“Leave,” I heard him cut them off.
They glanced at me, then at him—and ran.
And within seconds, they were gone.
Now, I was alone with the strange man.
My breaths came in sharp gasps, chest rising and falling.
“I’m safe. I have been saved!” I muttered inside me as tears rolled down my face.
Slowly, I tried to sit up, unfolding my body that was still trembling.
A hand stretched in front of me which gave me a shock. I looked up confused, I couldn’t fully see his face through the night and tear fragments blocking my vision but I caught a glimpse of his eyes, glowing bright green.
Though hesitant, I took his hands but the moment our skin touched, a spark went through my body, my breath caught.
My eyes widened in shock and confusion and the pain I felt was soon forgotten. That feeling…
My wolf? My wolf..!
No, no. It can’t be, she wasn’t there. But for the first time in life, she stirred.
“How could it be..?! What—“ my eyes widened more in shock as I turned to look at the hand holding mine.
This can only happen in one situation which is… “Was he my mate?!”
My eyes snapped to him, and just then, he seemed to see me clearly, his eyes darkened instantly.
He let go of my hand so fast I stumbled back to the ground.
My eyes flashed with confusion and desperation.
“Wait—” I croaked, my voice barely there.
But he had already disappeared into the trees.
I lay there on the floor, my eyes burning from pain and my heart filled with confusion.
***
By the time I reached home, my entire body ached and my mind was still spiralling in confusion.
That strange flicker of something that had stirred inside me. My wolf? The very thing I was mocked for not having. Was she awake?
All because of him.
Who was he?
And why had he looked at me like that?
I pushed through the rusted gate of the small house I’d grown up in.
It was quiet. I shut the door behind me, locking it, though the latch barely held.
For some reason, the house seemed quieter than usual.
“Aunt Celeste,” I called as soon as I entered.
She wasn’t home.
The living room was just as I left it, though something felt wrong. A crash echoed from the kitchen and my breath caught.
“Aunt Celeste…” I called again.
No answer but still I didn’t feel alone.
Had they followed me home?
Though my body ached so much and I could collapse anytime, I managed to stagger into the kitchen, grab a knife and hold it with both my trembling hands.
Since they weren’t able to take my life at that time, I wouldn’t give them another chance!
“Who’s there..”My voice cracked.
My back stiffened when I heard a footstep close behind me.
Then another.
I turned, heart leaping into my throat.
Three men stood in my hallway. Dressed in black, their faces masked in cloth and shadows. But I knew what the uniform meant. They were the Pack soldiers.
My eyes widened in shock, My heart pounded.
“W-What—What do you want?” I held my knife higher, stepping back slowly.
One of the soldiers stepped forward. “By order of Alpha Lucien Valentini. You are his fated mate. And by pack law, you are to be taken to him.”
My body stiffened, my lips parted in loud gasps. The words knocked the breath from my lungs. They were joking right?
But they weren’t smiling.
“No,” I whispered, then shook my head, “No, you’re wrong—”
Before I could finish my words, I turned to run, but I seemed to have forgotten about my injuries. I didn’t make it two steps before a hand slammed into me from both sides and the knife fell. My scream was cut short as I was yanked backwards.
“No! Let me go! I said let—”
“It’s not up for debate, it’s the Alpha’s command.”One of them hissed it in my ear as a hand dropped over my nose.
“Let me go!” I thrashed, kicked and screamed through the fabric.
Rough hands tied my wrists behind my back and suddenly I felt dizzy.
My voice died and the world vanished into black.
~~•
The first thing I felt was the cold air beneath my skin and the second was pain throbbing from my wrist.
They shoved forward into a cold, unfamiliar room. My wrists ached from the rope. My head spun, yet I felt a strong presence before I saw him. A force that made the air turn to ice.
Alpha Lucien Valentini.
I didn’t need anyone to tell me. The Alpha of my pack, the man whose enemies I am. The brother to whom they claimed my parents killed, the one man I know would want me killed!
He stepped into the light, radiating a cold dominance that stole the breath from my lungs. Same green eyes as the man from the forest who’d saved me.
The same familiar electric jolt from earlier tore through my chest and my wolf stirred again weak, but alive. A bond. A pull. A cruel joke.
“I—” My voice cracked. Even if I was nervous, “You saved me. Back in the forest…”
He let out a sneer, his eyes didn’t soften. If anything, they sharpened.
“You’re my mate,” I whispered, more like a question.
I looked at him expecting a rejection from him, but..
“No,” I breathed. “No, it can’t be…”
His jaw clenched. His eyes darkened like a storm rolling in.
I took a shaky step back. “Reject me,” I pleaded, “Just reject me please. I didn’t ask for this.”
He moved before I could blink, gripping my chin between his fingers, forcing my gaze to his. There was nothing soft in him. Nothing kind.
He looked at me like I was filth.
“Don’t flatter yourself,” he murmured, voice low and razor-sharp. “You think I want you as a mate?”
Tears pricked my eyes, my lips parted, and I spat out, “Then reject me!”
He leaned in, his breath brushing my cheek.
“I won’t,” he said. “And neither will you.”
My heart skipped. What is he trying to do?
“Why?” I choked out.
His grip tightened, just slightly.
“Because rejecting you would be mercy,” he said. “And I don’t believe in mercy.”
His eyes locked into mine dripping with vendetta.
“You will pay for what your family did. For everyday till the rest of your life you will get what you deserve and I promise to give you that, hate you and be the villain in your story.”
