Chapter 1

Evie's POV

{All my life, I never thought that any surprising yet chaotic thing, could ever befall me}

“Take this tray into the hall and serve the drinks accordingly.”

I nodded slightly while trying to steady my shallow breaths. With shaky hands, I held the tray filled with drinks in wine cups. A Few steps away from Ms. Clara, the lead maid, I felt a strong push from behind, causing me to trip and eventually fall flat with the drinks and cups; shattered all over.

Feeling frustrated with my clumsiness, I quickly stood up and was about to apologize with a remorseful face, when I felt a loud smack on my head, sending me right into the wall.

“Why are you so clueless?!” She questioned, with her cheeks glistening red in anger, and her eyes, popped out.

As my head spinned, I held on to the pillar closest to me, and managed to stand up before apologizing again.

“I'm sorry, Ms. I didn't mean to.....”

“Oh keep your lousy excuses to yourself. You're nothing but a pathetic maid, who goes about making things difficult. Clean this up, right now!”

She commanded, balled her fists like a furious dog and stomped out of the room.

I gazed at her disappearing silhouette and felt nothing but a strong headache, slowly dividing my head in bits and pieces.

Without further ado, I hurriedly tidied up, refilled the drinks and placed them in a food trolley, just to help me convey them faster to the hall.

On getting to the well decorated hall, I saw Serena, the Beta's daughter, all joyous; Swaying her long blonde hair, laughing and giggling with the Alpha triplets. She smiled brightly, like someone who had won a rare trophy.

For a moment, I stood still, tried not to blink and fixated my teary eyes on them; wondering what it'd have felt like to be a Beta's daughter for just a day.

I imagined the love, respect, honor and poise that'd accompany me, if only I got the chance to be in her position. As my bereaved gaze landed on Declan's mean-looking face, I quickly looked away and went back to my job of serving drinks to the pack member's.

To avoid an influx of thoughts and emotions, I served the drinks quickly, and headed towards the door; so I could run away before my emotions got the best of me.

Just then, I halted and felt an incredibly overwhelming pain; a shock that sent waves of electric current, all over my body. I shut my eyes, held my chest and felt like my heart was going to explode at that point.

Slowly, a weird scent filled my nostrils, leaving me extremely nervous with sweaty palms and shallow breaths.

Suddenly, the word “Mate” rang In my ears. I subconsciously batted my eyes repeatedly, while trying to understand what was going on with me and what I had just heard.

I clutched my belly and turned around, only to lock eyes with the triplets. Arthur revealed a big smile and echoed the word “Mate”, while walking towards me.

Max looked reserved, but It was obvious that this was not something he expected. Lastly, I gazed at Declan, but I felt nothing but chills from his cold expression.

He furrowed his brows and tightened his lips while locking eyes with me. The weight of his gaze was intense, sizing me up and giving me the feeling of unease.

Suddenly, Serena emerged. Not gracefully this time, but with a scowl, all over her reddened face.

Standing a few inches away from me, Serena glared wickedly at me, like a Lioness who was about to catch a prey. Before diverting her gaze to Arthur, Declan, Max and back to me.

She had a looked gloomy and unsatisfied about everything. I still had no explanation concerning what I had just heard; hence, I couldn't do or say much about things.

“You expect us to believe that you,” Serena rolled her eyes, trying to contain her anger, “Are mated to the triplet Alpha prince's?”

I ignored her and fixated my eyes on the triplets, who had their curious eyes glued on me.

Serena quickly glanced at the triplets and faced me, with her eyes, scrutinizing me from head to toe; before speaking.

“It'd be better, if you quietly deny whatever you might have heard or felt” Serena advised, while revealing a tight-lipped smile.

I finally found my voice and was about to speak, before Arthur suddenly chirped in.

“Oh, you'd be doing yourself a lot of favor, if you quietly go back to your seat, like the respected and beloved Beta's daughter that you are," Arthur maintained with a broad smile and an aura that could make a girls' heart, race. He was breathtakingly mysterious to begin with.

However, I gazed at him, my eyes filled with doubts, and I couldn't help but wonder if I was sure about what I heard. For some reason, I just could not comprehend the fact that my wish had come true.

I felt like I had been set up, big time, by the Moon goddess, for something beyond my control.

Subtly, I returned the smile, despite the uncertainty I felt within, and was about walking behind him when Serena stood in my way.

“You should stop this already, Serena”

I finally spoke up, looking for everything but trouble. “I should stop? Ha! That's a funny one from you.”

Serena scoffed, balled her fist's and gawked at me. “Evie! I won't stop because this is completely unacceptable to me!”

As if her actions weren't enough, the unbearable pain from before, slowly crept in again.

I clutched my belly subtly and searched for a place to sit and rest. Once again, I walked past her and followed the master of ceremony, who had gestured for me to come with him.

Feeling uncomfortable, I sat down, amidst the stares and whisper's from the pack member's. I couldn't care less, all I just wanted was to feel better already.

Just when I thought that I had finally found peace, Serena surfaced again. Twice as angry as before, stomping her foot, and clearly declaring that she was ready for me.

Like an athlete who was miles away from winning, Serena stood a few inches away from the podium and began, entirely ignoring the presence of the king, Alpha Aiden.

“Members of Pride-Moon pack! In the centuries past, a situation where a lowly, classless maid,” she paused and sized me up with her eye's narrowing subconsciously, revealing nothing but the disgust she had for me.

“Became a queen, has never been recorded. And it won't be recorded this time, especially with someone as scheming as Evie. A useless Omega can dream so much, but everything only starts and ends in her head.”

I looked down and played with my fingers, in a bid to avoid the evil stares that were coming my way. My chest tightened as different thoughts clouded my mind. “I should run away” This was the thought that rang in my head, but where would I run to?

There was only one option left for me. To quietly retreat to my humble but heartbreaking abode.

Serena came closer to me and yelled, “You'll never be the queen, no matter how you try! That's a position that'd never be yours.”

As my eyes welled up with tears, I slowly stood up, bowed a little and turned to go, when Serena drew me back and did the unthinkable.

She landed a hot slap on my face, causing me to stagger and weakly fall to the ground, like something that could be trampled upon.

All I saw at that point were Arthur and Max's silhouette, approaching me.....

Declan stood far away from me, looking agitated, but slowly mumbling what seemed like a secret…
