Chapter 1

“Slow day,” Lucy sighed, plucking out the petals of the dandelion in her hand. She was working in the garden, a chore she enjoyed beyond description. Lucy could spend the whole day in the garden, but not today. She was tired and upset.

Her mother, Diane Westwood, was planning to send her off to live with a relative, far away from everything she had ever known and loved. Lucy had just turned twenty and wanted nothing more but to get into college like her mates but her mother had denied her that since the death of her father.

After her strict father's death, Lucy thought that things were going to get better for her, she thought that she could finally go to college and live a normal life like other girls but that wasn't the case. Her mother became even more protective. She had no idea what they were trying to protect her from, she believed she could take care of herself.

Years ago, a deal was made between a human and a powerful Alpha werewolf.

“Yours in exchange for mine.”

“It's a deal.”

But what happens when this deal is broken? It can only mean one thing— chaos.

Lucy, who has always lived her life in isolation, will soon discover why her parents have struggled to keep her away from the outside world. She will soon discover that she is nothing but the belonging of a cruel Alpha.

Donovan Armando, a name that strikes fear in the hearts of those who hear it. What happens when his dark personality clashes with that of an angel called Lucy?

One word again— chaos.

“Lucy!”

That was her baby sister, Harper. She was only twelve years old.

“What!?” Lucy groaned, watching Harper run up to her in the garden.

“I just ate lunch and I'm leaving for Marla's place.” Harper announced and turned to leave but Lucy quickly stopped her.

“Did mom say you could go?”

“She didn't say I couldn't,” Harper replied with an eye roll. “Also, she's not coming home tonight. She called on the landline.”

“What?” Lucy's voice was laced with disappointment. She didn't want the burden of babysitting her sister that night. But she understood that her mother's job as a real estate agent required her to travel a lot.

“Can I go now?” Harper clicked her tongue impatiently.

“Don't come back here later than 4pm!” Lucy warned and watched her sister run out of the house.

Harper was really the only one who had friends. Their parents were never too protective of her, just Lucy.

Finishing up in the garden, Lucy decided to make a quick trip to the library and grab a few books. She had nothing else to do but read since she was also banned from having a phone. Lucy never understood why there were so many rules, but she had learned to cope with them over the years.

“Hi Mrs Baker.” Lucy smiled, dropping a pile of books on the librarian's desk. The old woman stared at the pretty young lady in front of her and smiled back.

“Hi Lucy. Back for more I see.” She said, enrolling the books into the system one by one.

“Yeah, just a little something to keep myself busy.” Lucy shrugged. Mrs Baker handed her the books afterwards and she left the library to where she parked her bike.

She loaded the books onto the bike and tied them in place before getting on and pedaling away. She hummed her favorite song as she rode into the quiet street where she lived. Her neighborhood was always oddly quiet, she attributed it to the fact that only rich people live there. Her family was well off, although she refused to acknowledge it most of the time.

Suddenly, she felt a shiver down her spine, and a gut feeling that someone was watching her. Stopping the bike, she swung her head around in an attempt to see who it was but she saw no one, the streets were empty as usual.

“That's odd.” She mumbled and continued riding home.

Lucy decided to make dinner after getting home. While standing in front of the window, she noticed a figure outside the house, but when she leaned in for a closer look, the figure backed away.

“What the fuck?” She thought to herself, brushing her wavy, brown hair out of the way for a better look. An eerie feeling enveloped her afterwards, causing her eyes to remain glued to the window until she finished making dinner.

Harper soon came home and the girls had dinner before Lucy delved into her books, immersing herself in the stories. She however, did not forget about the figure she saw outside and thought about it until she dozed off beside Harper.

The next morning, Diane came home only to find her daughters still sleeping peacefully in their room. Without disturbing them, she went to shower and then went down to make breakfast. She didn't like to leave them all by themselves, but her work was getting more of her time.

“Mom, you're back.” Lucy was the first to wake up and she came right to the kitchen after hearing the clanking of plates and pots.

Diane made a swift turn and smiled warmly at her pretty daughter. “Good morning darling, yes I'm back.”

“What are you making?” Lucy walked closer.

“Pancakes and bacon.”

“Cool! I'm gonna go water my plants real quick and be back before it's ready.” Lucy did a little shimmy with her shoulders and raced out the front door. She went straight to the garden, picking up the hose and gently watered the plants.

Suddenly, she heard a ruffle in the bushes nearby, causing her to raise her head, startled. At first she thought it was an animal, so she ignored it, but when she saw the figure of a man behind the bushes, she let out a loud scream.

“Lucy!!” Diane screamed, scrambling out of the house in a hurry, her legs moving faster than it had ever moved. She met Lucy standing in the garden, looking paranoid and perspiring heavily.

“What happened!?” She questioned in fear, her heart beating out of her chest. Lucy's eyes remained glued to the figure in front of her, and when Diane finally looked up, she was equally shocked.

Diane's face went pale, her feet and hands becoming cold and shaky. Her lips quivered as she struggled to speak, taking Lucy's wrist.

“We need to go.. we're going to get your sister and we're going to leave this house right now.” Diane stated and they both rushed into the house.

“What do you mean we're leaving!? There's a crazy stalker out there and instead of calling the cops, you want us to leave!?” Lucy yelled in anger, watching her mother throw clothes violently into their suitcases while Harper stood there in confusion, half asleep.

“Lucy, there's no time to explain. I promise I'll tell you everything soon but we can't call the police, we just have to leave now.” Diane rushed her words. “I don't know how he found us.” She mumbled under her breath.

“He? Who is he? You know the stalker!?” Lucy's eyes widened.

“Lucy, just cooperate with me please, that's all I ask.” Diane sniffed, locking the second suitcase and handing it to Lucy. She took the other one and started rushing downstairs while the girls followed closely behind her, still trying to understand what the hell was going on.

“Mom, are we really leaving the house for good?” Harper questioned as they descended the stairs.

“Yes dear, we must.” Diane answered but she almost choked when they got to the living room and met a strange presence in their house.

“Oh no..” Diane's muffled cry came.

Shocked and afraid, Lucy stared at the bulky man, his physique more intimidating and threatening than anything she had ever known. He had a white shirt on, the first two buttons undone and causing him to appear sexy. His black plants, barely held up by his belt, rested on his torso, and his wavy black hair rested on his forehead.

“Mrs Westwood..” his gravelly voice sounded, sending shivers down everyone's spines. He slightly raised his face, revealing his gorgeous face. He was nothing short of a Greek god; hazel eyes, perfectly chiseled chin and defined jawline which was covered by a shaved beard and a Roman nose that sat perfectly in-between his gorgeous eyes.

“Mom, who is he?” Lucy asked, terrified.

“Mrs Westwood..” he called again. “Did you really think that you could take my bride away from me?”
