Accidental surrogacy with the mafia heiress
Violet’s POV
I am sitting in a hospital room, tapping my fingertips impatiently, waiting for the doctor to arrive. I was having period issues for the last two months. First, I thought that I was pregnant with Nick, but when I tested negative, then I diverted my attention to meeting a gynaecologist. Nick and I had been dating for almost a year, and we both decided that we didn’t want kids yet, as we both have plans to build our futures. I had the biggest dream of becoming the next generation leader of the Kincaid gang. I came secretly to meet the doctor with my one and only female bodyguard, Beth. She is more trustworthy than my blood. I asked her to stay outside until I figure out with the doctor.
“Miss Violet, sorry I am late.” Carrying a file in her hand, the female gynaecologist entered the room.
“Never mind, doctor; I am more worried about my period being late. Are those my reports, doctor?” Pointing towards the files in her hand, I asked.
“Yes, Miss Violet. Now, let me come to the point. After doing a lot of tests, we diagnosed that you are soon going to face Premature menopause”
“Which means?” The name of the illness looks too tough to handle for me.
“It means your ovaries will soon stop producing eggs, and…” She took a pause.
“And I won’t be able to have children in the future,” I completed her.
“Unfortunately, that’s the bitter truth, Miss Violet. This is a rare situation that 1% of women face.”
“But how is this possible? I am still 25, young, and healthy.” Although I didn’t have a plan for kids right now, I know I will have them in the future.
"Yes, but that’s the nature of this complication. It could happen before 40, before 30, or even before 20. Once you go without a period for 12 consecutive months, that will be the result.” At least I should have one! was the thought that ran through my mind.
"Are you sure about this?” I asked to confirm.
"I am, Miss Violet," she said, handing the file over to me.
“This has every detail, and keep this safe for your future.” I took the file and didn’t bother to open it.
“Wait, but there should be a solution for this, right?” I kept the file on the table. I always look forward. I don’t like to be stuck in a moment and keep regretting it.
“There’s no cure for this, but there are two solutions for this.” I leaned forward to listen to what she had to say.
“You have still left some eggs inside you, Miss Violet. You can make a baby quickly right now or retrieve your eggs and freeze them so you can have a kid in the future through surrogacy.” She threw the two solutions on the table for me to take.
I took the file and stood up with a sigh.
“Miss Violet, whatever you do, do it quickly. You are running out of time.” I nodded in agreement and turned to go.
“Oh, Miss Violet, if you are planning to retrieve your eggs and freeze them for the future, try the Bellucci hospital. They have the best medical care and the latest equipment for these procedures.” Though my blood shook when I heard the name Bellucci, I didn’t show it to the doctor.
“Thank you for the advice, doctor. I’ll see you later.” The loud thud of the door shutting behind me made everyone’s heads turn toward me. I walked toward the elevator as if I didn’t care about anyone’s attitudes. Beth ran into me and got into the elevator.
“Seems like someone is having a bad day.” Beth has been serving us for more than seven years, and five years ago, Dad appointed her as my security detail. She protected me more than her own life—my every up and down, every mood swing, and each tiny change in my behaviour. She recognised changes quickly.
“The upcoming days are going to be tough for me, Beth.” The elevator bell rang, and we came out to walk into the vehicle.
“You can talk to me if you like or…”
“My eggs are going to finish soon, Beth,” Before she finishes up, I said.
“What? How is that possible? I mean, you are not in your mid-forties.” Beth was as surprised as I was to hear this.
“That’s the nature of this. The doc said that I am running out of time.” Beth turned on the vehicle and started to drive forward.
“I’ve never heard this before. I am sorry, boss, but there must be a solution for this.”
“There are two options: one is to get pregnant immediately, and the other is to retrieve and freeze eggs for future surrogacy," Beth was listening carefully.
“Ok, so we have two options. As far as I know, you and Nick don’t plan to have a baby right now. How about going for an egg retrieval?"
“There's a slight problem with that," I said, looking at the road.
“And what is it?" she asked.
“The latest technology and best medical care are available only at one hospital—the Bellucci Hospital." Beth hit the brakes immediately.
"Are you kidding me? It’s like pushing you into water with tied hands. The Belluccis are the biggest rivals of the Kincaids.”
“Exactly. I haven’t decided yet. I need to speak with Nick about this.” I sighed.
“Don’t worry, boss; everything will be fine.” She started to drive the vehicle again, and my mobile rang at the same time. I looked at the screen to find it was Dad.
“What is it, Dad?” I answer the call.
“Violet, where are you? Come home soon,” I was suspicious that something was going on from his side, by the nature of his voice.
“Dad, is everything all right? You seem anxious?” I asked.
“Quickly come home, Violet. The lawyer is going to read the last will of your grandfather!”
