LYLAH POV
The moment I stepped foot into the schoolyard, I was filled with so much anxiety. Today wasn't a normal day like it has always been. Today I turned eighteen and I could only dream about having a mate. Suddenly my nose caught up with a scents of summer berries. They were irresistible and I found myself moving toward the direction of the scent. I halted in my steps the moment I realized there were three leaning against a sleek black car, their eyes fixed on me.
"How can this be?" Kaius NightWalker, one of the triplets questioned. "This weakling can't be my mate?" He expressed with so much disgust.
"Sometimes it leaves me questioning, what's going through the head of the moon goddess." Malaki added.
My legs were shaking as the reality dawned upon me. I was mated to the future Alpha triplets. Kaius, Malaki and Ashton were the most feared and respected people in the school. They also double as my bullies in many cases.
"I think we should reject her." Ashton stated.
"Come here weakling!" Kaius ordered with a growl.
My feet were shaky, my head lowered as I made my way to meet my doom once again.
Kaius grabbed my chin and forced me to stare at him. He had so much disdain in his eyes and it almost felt like he was willing to murder me..
"We will never mate to a weakling like you. I hope you keep this mating a secret." I shook my head as he squeeze my neck fuether.
After he let go, I grasped for breathe, while they moved away saying profanities. I was determined not to let them get the better of me. I stood and watched the triplets disappear into the crowd. This wasn't over yet. Not close.
I took a deep breath and headed to my first class to get rid of the sting of rejection. As I entered the classroom, Ms. Jenkins greeted me with a friendly smile.
"Hello, Lylah ! You can choose your own spot. "
I looked around the room and saw an empty chair in the corner. While I was getting ready, Mrs. Jenkins continued speaking.
"Before we begin today's lesson, I want to tell you something. The next assignment involves group work, and I will assign each of you a partner. "
I felt a sinking feeling in my heart, while my head was filled with dread. Everyone else please join in. Mrs. Jenkins began to list the pairs, speaking monotonously until she reached the last pair. "You will be teaming up with Kaius Nightwalker and Lylah Moonstone."
I felt my heart stop. No way. That couldn't be possible. Kaius 's intense gaze met mine, and his lips curled into a smile. I blushed as he casually walked towards me. His movements were smooth and elegant.
"Well, well well, I guess fate brought us together, my little omega," he muttered sarcastically.
I gritted my teeth and tried to keep my composure. " I don't need your help, Kaius . I can manage this project on my own. "
Kaius laughed quietly, his eyes shining with amusement. "You are shaking with fear. But rest assured, I will support you throughout the project. After all, it's not ideal for your mate to fail, right?" I felt hurt by his words, but I was careful not to let him upset me.
I looked away and tried to focus on the lesson, but my mind was already full of strategies for how to get through this project with my mate.
I arrived at Pack's mansion with a pounding heart. I was overwhelmed by the splendor of the grounds and felt like an outsider. Luxury and wealth had never been something I enjoyed, so the villa's opulence made me uneasy.
When I got to the conference room, Kaius was already there. He stood leaning against the wall and stared at me with a grin. "Oh, Omega, you arrived on time as always," he said condescendingly. "I thought you were going to retreat."
I ignored his nagging and sat down at the table. "Maybe we should get this done sooner?"
Kaius laughed. "Oh, we're just getting started. The villa is mine. Technically it belongs to my family, but in the near future I will be receiving it all. "
He proudly displayed the lavish décor and expensive art of the alpha-rich. I rolled my eyes and clearly not interested.
"Look, if you are not ready to start, I will be on my way." I stated and attempted to leave, but eventually bump into a huge figure.
"Father." Kaius comment sends a series of shock through my brain and I stepped back almost immediately.
"Who is this girl?" He questioned, while I dared not looking him a second time.
"She is my project partner." I shouldn't be hurt by Kaius description of me, but I felt a pain underneath, knowing that will be what I am to the triplets and not mate.
"Very well then, I certainly hope that someday you bring your mate to me." He commented and turned around to leave.
"Father, she is also my mate." I turned around on shock to stare at Kaius. "But she is not worthy of being a Luna." He spat.
"What makes you think she isn't worth of being a Luna?" Alpha NightWalker questioned.
"Father, she is an Omega and we have a long history of not allowing such status of people in this pack." Every word he said has a painful effect on me, as I knew I was nothing to them.
I took a slight glance at the Alpha, whose gaze had been on me all this while.
"Is that so? We indeed have a rule of not allowing these peasants in my pack." The Alpha commented with a tone of disdain.
"Very well then, Kaius get your brothers and meet me at the chamber right now. We have a meeting about this.... mate of yours."
A meeting about me? I couldn't help but wonder how much worse it could get.
