Chapter 1

Chapter one.

Sophia’s POV.

“You are going to mate her?”

I heard Selena’s voice, making me pause and my hand slowly letting go of the door knob.

“Come on, you know I can't choose her over you. I will reject her,” I heard the Alpha's cold voice.

I took a deep breath, trying to process what I was hearing. Alpha Gabriel was my mate and Selena was his childhood friend.

I watched through the crack of the door as he cupped her cheeks, pulling her closer to him.

Tears brimmed my vision as he connected his lips with hers in a gentle kiss. What was worse than this? My mate rejected me before our wolves got a chance to meet each other.

I watched as she unzipped his trousers, biting her bottom lips and pulled him closer.

I couldn't take it anymore. I turned and ran, not looking back. As soon as I reached my room, I slammed the door shut and leaned against it, my legs giving way beneath me. I slid to the floor, overwhelmed.

Tears streamed down my face as a sharp pain pierced my chest. I clutched my chest, feeling crushed.

Why is this happening to me? The pain was suffocating, and I screamed, curling up on the ground in pain.

I was taken away from my parents when I was only ten years old. I thought maybe it won't make a difference after all everyone would be happy to live in the pack house but mine was different.

The Queen mother who was the Luna then, made me quit from school, she locked me in the basement for years and food was shoved to me through the door.

At fifteen, she brought me out and made me live with my fellow Omegas. And now this?

The moon goddess's plan seemed cruel.

How am I mated to someone who clearly didn't want me.

Today was supposed to be a celebration, the mating ceremony and Alpha's coronation, but it turned into a painful revelation.

I had been excited, thinking my life would finally change for the better. I was going to approach the Alpha, proud to declare our bond, but instead, I was greeted with his plans to reject me.

A sharp pain pierced my chest, and I clutched at my chest, trying to ease the ache. But it only seemed to grow, a constant reminder of the rejection that awaited me.

I was snapped back to reality when I heard a knock at my door. I quickly wiped my tears as I struggled to stand up.

I opened the door and I saw Selena standing in front of me. I struggled to bow my head as my wolf, Alia refused to bow down to the woman who my man choosed over us.

She handed me the clothes with a smile. "Take this," she said, "for the mating ceremony." I thanked her, forcing a smile in return. But when I reached for the clothes, her grip tightened. "Today, everyone will know the real Luna," she said, then, she released the clothes

She walked away and I stared at the clothes, attending the mating ceremony felt pointless, but I knew I had to go through with it.

If I didn't, the Alpha Gabriel might become suspicious, and I'd risk facing punishment.

I spent my whole day in my room. Evening came quick and it was the mating ceremony.

I walked to the garden where the event was too be held. Abruptly, everyone rose to their feet and my heart beat accelerated.

The familiar scent hitted my nose and I turned around. Alpha Gabriel climbed the stage with a proud smile, basking in the adoration of the crowd.

"Long live Alpha" Everyone chanted, and he waved graciously before his eyes onto mine.

His roar startled me, approving their greetings. Soon, the ceremony began and everyone shifted to their wolf form, circling around the burning fire.

My clothes fell away, my skin rippling and changing. I let out a howl as I fully shifted into my wolf form, my fur dark and glossy in the moonlight.

"Mate!" we exclaimed in unison.

I transformed into my human form, I quickly put on my clothes as we locked eyes.

“Don't tell me you thought I was going to welcome you with wide arms?” He asked in a mocking tone and laughed. But I didn't say anything. I just stared at him, biting my lips hard trying my best not to cry. I already knew how this is going to end, but why does it still hurts? Why? I swallowed hard, my eyes brimmed with tears. Growing up, I heard of the pain that comes with rejection

A mischievous smile spread on Alpha Gabriel's face. “I, Alpha Gabriel Knight, reject you, Sophia, as my mate!” he yelled.

Taking a deep breath I prepared myself for pains.

“I, Sophia Grant, accept_” but my words were cut off as he kissed me and my eyes widened.

The kiss was aggressive and he pulled out.

“A lowly wolf like you wouldn't dare reject me, I won't allow it!”

Everyone gasped and my eyes locked onto Selena's shocked expression. But it was Alpha Gabriel's declaration that made her jaw drop even further.

"As from today, Selena Grant will be my maid!"

My own eyes widened in stunned silence. First, he'd rejected me, and now he was stripping me of my dignity, reducing me to a personal maid?

What game was he playing?
