Touched by the Savage Alpha
Charlotte's POV
“There's no way in the world I'm getting married to him!” I snapped at my father as I bolted out of the courtroom. I did not care that I was disrespecting or belittling him in front of the council of Alphas. I just needed to be away from them.
As I slammed the door, I caught the scent of my father behind me immediately.
“My lady.” Rubella, my maid, called, but I ignored her.
“This is not just my decision, but the decision of all Alphas, and it's for a great cause.” My father, King Armoni Silver of the Silverwood Kingdom, said, following behind me. Rubella's scent and soft voice fell behind.
“That's a horrible decision, a very selfish one!” I growled. “You did not bother to check in with me before springing it up on me before the council of Alphas! That's very unfair.”
“I am sorry, Charlotte, but it has to happen!” My father snapped, holding my hand, stopping me from moving. “You need to understand the urgency of this situation.”
“The sustenance of the kingdom rests on this.” He pleaded.
I yanked my hands off, and I took to my heels, making straight for my room. I heard his footsteps behind me. He was barely running, which was one of the perks of being the alpha king.
The hallways were endlessly long, and my room was still very far away.
I was close to tears as I ran towards my room.
Why would he ship me off to marry Ethan Diamond? Just why?
My room finally came into sight, and I got there only to be prevented entry by my father's hand. He held the lock and held my arm with his other hand.
“Father, please, don't make me do this.” I begged, shedding sorrowful tears.
“I'm sorry, but it has to happen.” He growled. “Ethan is a nice person, and I'm sure he'd treat you right.”
“We hear the same rumours, and we know that Ethan is a very dangerous and evil person!” I growled. “He even feeds people to dogs.”
“Don't believe rumours.” My father growled, holding me very tightly.
“You'd be signing my death warrant by shipping me off.” I muttered, breathing hard.
“It's not a death warrant, and besides, it saves the whole kingdom. This is your duty as a princess!” He said.
The kingdom had been facing a terrible drought for years, and the only way the Diwood kingdom would trade food with us at reasonable and humane prices was by my marriage to Ethan.
The pirates at sea were making things even worse for us. The little trades we were successfully making were constantly being intercepted by pirates.
I've never hated being in the royal family until now. The thought of not having a mate because of political reasons bothered me, but not as much as it did now.
I'd marry someone I don't love and don't want to love.
“Just let me slide this once, and I promise to obey whatever it is you want next.” I begged, breathing heavily.
“I can't, Charlotte. I'm sorry.” He muttered.
“I'd rather marry a pirate at the sea than to be married to the abusive Ethan you call a royal prince!” I snapped, trying hard to free myself from his grasp.
“Charlotte, don't force me to use my sovereign tone.” He begged, but I did not stop trying to free myself.
“That's the only way I'd do any of that shit you want me to do!” I shouted.
His red eyeballs turned red immediately, and I knew I was absolutely cooked.
“Charlotte Silver! You will obey the instructions given to you, and you will sail to the Diwood kingdom to be married to Ethan Diamond.” My father commanded, using the sovereign tone.
And just like that, I fell to my knees, accepting my commands. He and my mother were the only ones that had such power over me, and now, he had used it.
“I'm sure Lisa put you up to this.” I muttered, on my knees. Lisa was my stepmother. The new love of my father after my mother's death. “You just lost your daughter.”
“I love you, Charlotte. One day, you will see it.” He whispered, walking away from me.
Rubella ran in from the corner she had just turned. She stopped to bow until my father was completely out of sight. She took a few more steps before falling right on my legs. She was breathing hard from running so long.
“Pack our things.” I whispered sadly, “We are headed to Diwood.”
***
It was time for me to leave. Two days after my father had made the decision to cast me away with the help of his dear wife. They all came to wave me goodbye, but I really didn't want to see any of them.
I had no friends because I was apparently too spoiled and highborn to have friends. The ones I had almost had would always do something to irritate me.
Rubella was the only one that I had. The only one dear to me. The only one that could put up with me.
“I'll see you at your wedding.” My father said, kissing me on the head. He hugged me, but my hands stayed firmly rooted by my side. Lisa came to his side, waiting to speak words to me.
“I really don't care.” I muttered, boarding the ship immediately, avoiding any more discussions.
A few minutes after we boarded the ship since it was the fastest way to Diwood, we set sail. I stood outside with Rubella, who was waving at her omega friends. I turned my back to enjoy the fresh breeze of the sea.
The ship was heavily guarded, given the problems of pirates.
“So, what do we do to while away time?” I asked, walking into my cabin. Rubella followed behind me dutifully.
“Scrabble?” Rubella asked, and I chuckled.
We started playing games, we slept, and played more games.
We were back at games again when the ship vibrated turbulently. It was shocking and scary at first, but I didn’t take it too much to heart.
“It's probably just an iceberg.” I whispered.
“Let me go find out from the sailors.” Rubella said, jumping outside.
The turbulence started again, and I got very worried. I never really had to use my wolf powers, and I was absolutely sure my abilities could not match up to any pirate.
It was when I heard the sound of a horn that I was sure that we were being attacked.
I grabbed a sword close to my bed, and I made for the door. I was about to open the door when it was forced open. Rubella's hands were up, and there was a pistol held to her head.
Fear gripped me immediately. I quivered, shifting back immediately as she walked in, and the guy followed behind. He was dangerously handsome. The way his black hair laid lazily around his head, with their tips pointing at his red eyeballs, just made him absolutely attractive.
“Hello princess.” He said with a smirk. “I'm captain Adrian White, and this ship has been seized.”
