Hidden Love for My Lecturer
“Don’t ever force me to get married! I don’t like you always controlling my life.” Emma’s gaze looked quite scary. The anger inside her overflowed uncontrollably. Both of her hands clenched tightly.
“You’re twenty-one years old. You’re ready to get married. I don’t want to know. You have to accept this arranged marriage,” said Regina, Emma’s biological mother, who was now sitting on the dining chair while looking at her daughter.
“You know, I’m still in college. Why are you so selfish? You don’t think about my mental health at all. I’m very disappointed in you.” Emma turned her face away. She was reluctant to look at Regina’s face.
“I’m doing this for your own good. If you accept this arranged marriage, you won’t have to work hard to work part-time anymore. Regina’s eyes looked sad. She really hoped that her daughter’s heart would melt.
“What did you say? For my own good? Did I hear you right?” Emma looked back at her mother. She showed her smirk, as if she was already sick of hearing Regina’s sweet words. "Never twist the facts. This arranged marriage only benefits you. Not me. You only think about how to pay off your debts. Without caring about my happiness, you are indeed the most selfish woman I have ever known. No wonder my father can't live with you," Emma's eyes turned red. Unconsciously, tears fell down her cheeks.
"Enough, Emma! Don't ever talk about your father in front of me. Okay. I'm afraid that I'm not good enough to take care of you. I'm just a poor woman who can't give you a decent life. You're right. I really hope that you will accept this arranged marriage so that my debts are paid off. I don't want to be a hypocrite. I'm tired of living a hard life like this." Regina stood up from her seat, and then she walked away without saying a word again.
Emma's tears flowed even harder down her cheeks. She felt guilty for saying harsh words to her mother. However, she also felt in a dilemma and deserved to defend herself. Her hands cupped her face, which was wet with tears. She tried to express all the emotions that were pent up in her heart. Since her parents decided to divorce, her life had fallen apart. "Oh, God, why is my life such a mess?"
After cleaning the dining table, Emma went to her bedroom. Her intention to go to the library this afternoon was canceled. Her complicated thoughts made her lazy to do anything. She walked towards the window that was still wide open. The night air slowly began to be felt on her white skin that was only covered by a thin cloth. She closed the window, then closed the curtains. Her steps towards the large mirror that stood upright next to the dressing table. The reflection of her face that looked pale and tired was so clear. A long breath was released roughly. After being satisfied staring at her reflection in the mirror, she lay down on the bed while staring at the walls of the ceiling.
"I can't imagine that I will become a wife at my young age. Oh, my God! Help me ...." Her right hand took a pillow, then covered her face. With full consciousness, she screamed as loud as she could.
Regina, who was in front of Emma's bedroom door, of course heard her daughter's stifled screams. It was undeniable that there was a feeling of sadness deep in her heart. However, she also didn't want her daughter to have the same bad fate as her. She knew very well that the man who would be matched with Emma was a good man and, of course, loved Emma very much. She started knocking on her bedroom door. "Emma, can I come in?"
Emma pushed the pillow away from her face when she heard her mother's voice. "Why is she looking for me?" she muttered in annoyance. She wanted to ignore her mother. However, she couldn't. She realized that her mother was the only family she had right now. "Come in! The door is unlocked," she answered loudly.
Not long after, the bedroom door opened and Regina appeared walking towards the bed. Emma, who saw it, immediately turned her gaze the other way. "Sorry if I bothered you. I just wanted to give you this." Regina handed a photo to her daughter.
Emma turned her head and frowned. However, she was reluctant to take the photo in her mother's hand. "This is a photo of the man who will be matched with you. His name is Jason. It just so happens that he is in the same university as you. He is a medical student. He is one year older than you," Regina said, then put the photo on the bed. Seeing no response from her daughter, she immediately left.
Emma was curious about what photo her mother gave her. Finally, she pushed aside her pillow, then her hand took the photo. She stared at the photo closely. "His face is handsome, his skin is white, his nose is sharp. Oh my God! His body is very tempting, dashing and tall," she said unconsciously. When she realized what she had just said, she immediately covered her mouth with her palm. "What am I thinking? And why is he in the same university as me? This is so annoying! How am I supposed to face him later?" Emma messed up her hair, frustrated with her life that was full of plot twists.
The next day, at exactly 8 a.m., Emma got ready to go to campus. This morning her makeup was quite thick because it was to cover her puffy eye bags. "I think it's enough." She looked at her reflection in the mirror. A blue blouse was combined with long levis pants, and she let her long hair down.
Emma got into her car and drove away. The distance from the university to her house was only 15 minutes. "I hope I don't meet him," she said to herself.
A few minutes later, Emma arrived at the university. She immediately parked her car in the parking lot. "Gosh, it's quite hot this morning. If only I had more money, I would fix my broken car AC," she muttered while looking in the rearview mirror. After fixing her makeup, she got out of the car.
Emma started to walk. However, suddenly her gaze shifted to a black luxury car on her right. She walked closer. She looked in the car window to fix her hair. "Oh my! My lips look pale. It looks like there's no one in the car," she said to make sure, then took out lip cream from her bag.
"Even though my life is ruined, at least my face must still look beautiful and fresh," she muttered again, then started to apply lip cream to her lips while looking in the dark car window. However, suddenly the car window opened, making her body suddenly become a statue.
“What are you doing?” Austin, who was sitting in the driver's seat, was now looking at Emma with an innocent expression on his face, not a single smile.
Emma was still stunned looking at the man who looked very neat, wearing a white shirt with the top two buttons of the collar open. "Get out of my car! I want to get out," Austin said with a look that looked quite scary.
"Oh, okay. Sorry." Emma immediately moved aside. "Oh my! Why is there someone in that car? So embarrassing," she thought while covering her face that was starting to turn red.
The car door started to open, and a tall, sturdy, man came out. Emma tried to peek through her fingers. However, when her gaze fell on him, she immediately covered her face tightly.
