Introduction
“Are you going to kill me the way you killed your mate?” I asked, finding it hard to keep my voice and eyes steady. “Only if you behave, Moon. You're my little wife, remember?” He leaned down, pushing a strand of hair down my ear. “And as my wife, you're to obey me even at the cost of your life. Only then will I spare you.” “And if I don't?” I breathed, raising my gaze at him for the first time. “What if I disobey you, Keiran?” “Then, the consequences won't be one you can bear.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Having all you desire was one of the best things in life. A good family, a loving mate who is also my childhood sweetheart and my wolf. I thought it was going to remain that way for a really long time, but unfortunately, my happiness was just for a fleeting moment. I caught my mate having an affair with another woman, and my father, the Alpha of the Lily pack, broke the news of my arranged marriage to the most feared man that ever lived. LYCAN KEIRAN MORENO. A deadly Lycan King who is also the god of the underworld. Rumors flew about that he killed his mate on the night of their mating ceremony. How then was I supposed to get married to such dangerous man? I ended up in his domain as his bride, despite our huge age gap. Good grief... this man was my worst enemy. I would rather die than let him touch me. That's how much I hate him, and fortunately, the feeling was mutual on both ends.

CHAPTER 001 Run away

LUNARIA’S POV

“What are you saying mum? Dad?” my voice trembled slightly as I looked at my parents, they looked like they hated the idea the second they had aired it out.

“Luna, you have to understand,” my mother spoke up, her eyes filled with tears as she approached me.

No, I can’t. Not when you are sending me off to be married to Lycan Kieran!” I yelled, the tears that I had been trying to hold back sliding down my cheeks. “You are sending me off to be married to a monster,”

“He isn’t a monster…”

I scoffed, turning away from my mother. He isn’t a monster now because they want me to marry him. But when he had killed his mate, they were the first people to talk about how much of a beast he was.

But of course I couldn’t say that out loud. Not when I knew how mad it would make my father.

“I have a mate… Donald, you can’t expect me to… to…” he words felt stuck in my throat, I couldn’t even bring myself to say it.

Donald was my life and they want me to leave him?

“Enough!” my father barked, the chandeliers rattling at the force of his voice. “Your duty is to the kingdom, and now, you must marry the Lycan king,”

I gasped, my chest clenching as she repeated the words I had been scared to hear. My father had been blessed, well, cursed by the moon goddess to have only a daughter. And now, at an advanced age, he needed power, he needed to be sure that his kingdom wouldn’t be in ruins.

I was a blessing because I could be auctioned to the strongest Alpha who glanced my way. And a curse because from birth I had been told I had no chance with love.

I was stupid, stupid to have let myself fall for Donald, thinking that if I found my mate, that they would be happy and that they would let me be with whoever it is that the moon goddess had blessed me with.

“Mom,” I turned toward my mother, hoping that she would help soften the blow. But I knew that was useless, she would always stand with her husband, no matter the pain that she saw in my eyes.

“You can’t let Dad do this. I love… I love Donald,” I cried, my breath coming in short pants.

My father had barely spared me a glance as he walked out of my room. He was done. His word was law, and I was meant to live by it.

“Luna, we all have to make sacrifices that will help the kingdom…”

“But what about me? Who is going to make sacrifices for me?” I hissed, wiping the tears that streamed down my face angrily.

She sighed, “You don’t understand, this is politics, if your father fails to secure an heir to the throne, the kingdom, the people… they will revolt,”

There it was, reminding me that I was nothing but a girl child, who had no place on the throne.

This wasn’t going to end well, but I still had to say it, “I am here, I am his heir, why can’t they see that? Why can’t they acknowledge that?”

She stared at me with tears in her eyes, “You are an omega, and you have no…”

I let out a bitter laugh, “I have no wolf,”

There it was, the one thing that I knew made me different from the rest of my pack members. I was the shame they tried to forget. At the age of sixteen, when other wolves had transformed, I had stood by the corner, watching as my peers took on their wolf forms.

Everyone had waited patiently, eyes eager waiting to see the wolf that I would become, but when the moon had been hidden by the clouds, and the rays of the sunlight began simmering through the tree lines. The truth was realised.

I was an omega without a wolf.

I was at the bottom of the rank. But the only thing that had kept me was the fact that I was the Alpha’s daughter.

“Donald, he has a wolf and he is also a beta’s son, shouldn’t that amount to something?” I asked.

My mother sighed, I could tell that she was already getting frustrated with every excuse that I was trying to give. But I wasn’t going to stop. I will keep on fighting till they give me a chance.

“Donald is a beta’s son. The people will never want to be ruled by a beta. They need an Alpha, one from a strong bloodline. Donald, he doesn’t… he doesn’t have that. He is born to follow, not lead,” she said.

“Mom, please,” I begged, my heart clenched in my chest. I couldn’t do what they were asking, not when I knew that my heart belonged to another. I loved Donald, and I couldn’t see myself getting married to someone else.

“Luna, it is an honour that Lycan Kieran even suggested you to be his Luna, his wife,” she said.

Was she even listening to me? Could she see the pain that was in my eyes?

“I haven’t even spoken to the man in my whole life. How do you think that he will… that I will love him?” I muttered.

I sounded stupid, like I was agreeing to what she was saying. But I wasn’t, not in any form. I needed her to see the reason. I need her to see that this could never work.

“Marriage is a whole lot more than love for Luna, you should wake up from the illusion,” she said in a calm tone.

“But you love Dad,” I whispered.

She smiled, a smile that told a thousand stories, “It wasn’t always this rosy, we had our moments, but over the years, I had gotten to love him,”

“Your marriage with Dad, was it arranged?” I whispered.

No one said this, they looked like they were mates, ordained by the moon goddess herself.

“It was, but it was the best decision that I have ever made,” she said.

She looked like she wanted me to believe her so badly.

“But I don’t think that I can stop loving Donald,” I mumbled. If I considered this, that they expected of me, how was I going to let go of the one man who held my heart?

“How do you forget someone that you have dreamed about?” I mumbled, my eyes clouded with pain.

She rose from the bed, her eyes matching mine, filled with pain from an unresolved past, “Time heals everything. You will learn to love Lycan Kieran. Your duty to your pack is to be a perfect Luna and wife,”

Duty.

That word was beginning to sound like my personal nightmare. My duty was to my pack. There was no room for love or happiness.

“Every woman has a role to play, and that is making sure that her home is perfect,” she said, reciting the words like they were something ingrained in her mind.

“You will marry the lycan king, and you will make Lily pack proud,” she said, walking out of the room.

She was gone, but her words still stood, I was nothing but a puppet, ready to be moved when they saw fit.

But I wasn’t going to be subjected to that. I had a life to live.

Donald was my mate, and I will not allow anyone to take that away from me.

Tonight, I am running away.
