Introduction
I blinked to brush past the tears that gathered in my eyes. “No. No. No. I can't. I can't be with those jerks—” I spun around on my heels, and made to run when a strong hand snaked around mine. His cold touch drove heat through my skin. I turned and it was Kieran. My heartbeat slowed to a crawl. Time, the swaying trees that lined the entrance of the pack house, and even the wind stopped. Kieran's face was layers of anger, pain and something else I didn't have a word for. A beat passed, the layers shredded to reveal a cold inscrutable expression. A vicious growl erupted from his lips, his eyes blazing with “You'll never be good enough to be our mate.” *** Ivy Lorenzo was constantly bullied by the Alpha triplets who instigated everyone against her. She dreamt of the day she'll be blessed with her wolf, and finally get her revenge on everyone that hurt her. When she got her wolf and discovered a prophecy binded her to the triplets, would she be consumed by the urge to have her revenge. Or will she take the dreaded path of falling in love with the thorns that pricked her?

BETRAYED

IVY'S POV

I sat by the sidelines, staring dreamily, while the older kids sprinted across the perimeter of the training ground. “Go for it Vuk!” I cheered my brother's wolf as it reached the end of the field, racing against three huge wolves— they had more advantage over him. Troy had just turned eighteen two weeks ago, and shifted into his wolf's form.

When I finally clocked eighteen, I was going to shift into my wolf form…hopefully. Excitement blossomed in my chest at the thought. Most nights, I went to bed thinking about how my shifting night would turn out.

Pain from my bones cracking, before it gave way to stronger hind legs. I often wondered what her name would be, what her special abilities would be. It's not like I cared so much about getting any powers from the moon goddess.

Heck! I just wanted to be in touch with my personal supernatural being, having my own wolf was enough power. Whenever I saw Troy zoning out, while communicating with his wolf, I was equal parts jealous and intrigued.

“One day, I'm going to have my wolf.” I muttered under my breath, my hand clutched against my chest.

A snort. “Don’t get your hopes high daydreaming, you'll never get a wolf!” Mila spat.

Mila Thorne. Tall, curvy, with blonde wavy hair that flattered her waist. Extra blush lined her chin, and pouty lips that dripped with shimmering lip gloss. She was the fanciest girl in school, about the same age as my brother. She was feared in the school, because she was dating the Alpha triplet heirs.

Of course, the other students regarded her as the next Luna. I didn't agree with that. Luna Tovia, the triplets mother was nothing like Mila. She was kind to everyone around the pack, including the Omega's.

She wasn't cocky, and definitely didn't spend bucks trying to have fuller lips. Mila on the other hand was vain. All she ever cared about was to be Luna. I crossed my hand over my chest.

“Mila, if I were you I'd concentrate on upping my grades. You're not all that!” My solemn words pricked a delicate nerve.

Mila covered the small distance between us, her face, the color of a hydrant. She shoved my shoulders violently. I almost stumbled, but quickly regained my balance. Anger simmered in my veins, “How dare you!” I advanced towards her, so we were mere inches apart.

“I'm gonna teach you a bitter lesson, watch and learn honey.” Suddenly, she collapsed to the ground. “Help! Somebody help me!” Mila clutched the side of her head.

Everyone gathered around, including the triplets Jason, August and Kieran. I flinched, too stunned to speak. I hadn't even touched her. I just stared in shock. A low growl rattled from someone standing beside me.

“What have you done, Ivy?” Troy questioned. My veins trembled with anxiety. He scrubbed a frustrated hand over his face, as he inched closer to me. “Ivy, why do you always have to mess things up for me? You know how much I want to be on the same basketball team as the triplets.”

My breath hitched in my chest. “But I-I-I…”

“Forget it Ivy. You're at fault, there's no need to explain anything.”

“Is she your sister?” A rich velvety voice reached my ears. My gaze swept past his shoulders and landed on Jason. He was the second eldest son of the Alpha.

Even through the scowl that rested on his face, he was a delight. Gosh! He had no business being this handsome. His lean muscles peeked from his basketball singlet that was drenched in sweat. He commanded the sort of aura that made knees bucked.

At eighteen, the triplets had a touch of masculine fierceness that was equal parts enthralling and stoic. “Yes!” Troy's voice was laced with embarrassment?

I didn't have the time to wrap my head around it before he spoke again. He bowed his head, avoiding their gaze. “Yes, she is.”

“Punish her!” A cold voice sneered, and my pulse doubled. August sidestepped the others and stood beside Troy. “Heard you wanted to be on our team yeah?”

Troy hesitated, then he nodded his head slowly. “Yes.”

Mischief gleamed in August eyes, “Make her suffer for what she'd done to Mila,”

Mila hissed, making a face at me. How come everyone was blind to her antics? “Yes Troy, make this clumsy little thing suffer!”

Troy turned his head to face August, when he looked back at me, his expression was cold, distant. “I can't–”

“Then you won't be on our team.”

My heart thumped with apprehension. Troy was not just my brother, but my best friend. He protected me even in school. He wouldn't do something like that right?

“Get down on your knees!” He hissed.

My heart froze. I opened my mouth but no words came out. Betrayal roared through my veins. He curled his hands into a fist and I clamped my eyes shut. Still, tears managed to leak out. It wasn't the pain from Troy's intended hit, or the embarrassment. It was the sting of betrayal.

“Let me help you!” Mila pushed him aside and hit me hard across the face. I fell on my face, a sob wracked through my core. Mocking laughter filled the air in the wake of my brother's betrayal.

“Ivy doesn't deserve to be the daughter of Beta jeez! She's too basic!” A girl gritted.

Another laughed. “And most definitely not Troy's sister. He's an all-rounder, while she, an introvert, with blind eyes to aesthetics,”

Slowly, the crowd dispersed. While I remained on the floor sobbing, until a gentle hand touched my shoulders. “Hey, Ivy, get up.” The soothing voice urged. At first, I remained on the floor, till she pulled me up.

I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand. “Are you here to finish what they started?” I quizzed. By now, it was just the both of us on the training ground.

The girl chuckled. “Not in the slightest. Everyone knows Mila is a snob, they just can't stand up to her since they're scared of the triplets.”

“I didn't do anything.” My voice was thick with pain.

She grinned. “I know. I saw her hit you first,” She took in my stained tracksuit. “Come, let's get you cleaned. I'm Maya by the way. And you're Ivy, daughter of Beta Eric.” I nodded and followed closely behind her.

Throughout the entire day, Troy avoided me. After closing hours, he'd driven home in his sports car, while I had to use the train station home.

Perhaps, if I had a wolf I'd have sprinted through the woods back home, “Please moon goddess, bless me with a strong wolf.” I said as I trudged in the chilly weather to the train station.
