"You should be happy about going to uni Lyra" my mom who has been nagging me since morning stood in front of me and said, she has been pacing around and complaining since morning, because I said I don't want to go to Wellington university.

I was also happy two days ago when I found out I got a scholarship to study at Wellington, but immediately I saw the list of students from our high school who were also going to the college, all the joy I had suddenly disappeared.

My mom rushed out of the kitchen "what happened? What's wrong?" She questioned, I zoomed into the photo and looked at the university name again "Halebridge" I whispered "that means she didn't get accepted into Wellington".

"No" I screamed collapsing on the couch, my mom rushed to me looking at me with wide eyes "what's wrong lyra?" She questioned impatiently.

"Mom.. It's sandy, she got an admission at Halebrigde not Wellington .. We are not going to the same university now..." I said covering my face with my palms.

My mom released a breath, she glared at me angrily before she removed my legs on the sofa and sat there, she sighed heavily "lyra that shouldn't be your concern... You are now a university student, your studies should matter first before anything" she stated.

I already knew where this talk was leading to, so all I wanted to do was get out of here, whenever my mom started with this lecture she will take at least two hours going on and on about it.

Especially on my 18th birthday, she spended more than five hours lecturing me about how adults were supposed to act, about relationship life and school life, my mom gets worried about every little thing, she is always looking out for me...

We lost dad when I was eight, which Was ten years ago, and for all those years mom had been the only one taking care of me, she didn't remarry or stopped taking care of me, instead she showed me more love and care, always protecting me from all those kids who bullied me.

Braxton martinez took everything away from me, I was the top student in the entire school but immediately he came he took that position, I was the one the teachers admired most, but they all grew more fond of him, made him the class captain, he did whatever he wanted and even ordered us around.

I wanted to speak up about it, but when I went to the principal's office I found out I was the only one complaining, all the other students were totally fine with him doing all that.

I left the principal's office disappointed only to come to school the next morning and find my locker filled with trash, and a note saying "officially on brax's shit list".

I didn't even knew what that meant at first, so I threw the card away and cleaned my locker room.

But that letter was the beginning of braxton Martinez officially ruining my life, until the day I graduated from highschool.

"Lyra!!!" My mom yelled, I looked at her my heart pounding against my chest from the sudden shock "I was speaking to you young lady" I nodded trying to pretend as if I heard everything she said.

"Its settled then, she said standing" I raised an eyebrow confused "you are going to Wellington" she stated noticing my confused look.

"I never said I was going to Wellington" I murmured "you just nodded" she said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"I didn't even heard what you said" I responded "well now you did, and my decision is final, so you better get your things ready, in the next two days I am dropping you off at Wellington" she declared, before I could argue she walked back into the kitchen leaving me with no option.
