He was the butcher but you were the knife.

SONIA’s POV:

I smiled sweetly, “If this does the job, I might even give you a place in the pack house. And no one would find out, I suggest you also keep your mouth shut.” I applied the substance to one of the wooden cups and stirred it with my fingers, clearing the small whites on its surface.

“Thanks for your help” I took both the cups and headed towards Laura.

“Hope you haven’t been having fun without me” I joked, handing her the poisoned wine. “But who says wine wouldn’t bring happiness? Drink” I drank my whole cup in one go.

I slammed the empty cup on the small table. “Drinks are on me!” I shouted, making all the men and a few women shout in ecstasy and bliss.

I smiled as Laura slowly drank the wine. Happiness exploded in my chest and spread through my body as I stared and waited for the poison to take effect and end her.

This was not what I had planned but seems like the moon goddess has shined her upon me. The goddess must have seen that I was one to take over the throne and become Luna. I would control everything from that part.

But now, my plans changed, and even for the better without even stressing myself.

I never knew a girl's out would be so easy and I would kill Laura without wasting a breath. After Laura is dead, all blame would shift to that ugly lady since I already planted evidence in her homes before I came to this place.

Well, Alex helped me plant evidence as I didn’t have that luxury of time since I was busy with Laura at the moment.

I couldn’t find out how I had to keep Laura close and make her trust me completely. And then, when the time was right, I would strike. But the time arrived faster than I imagined.

The thought sent a thrill through me, and I smiled, trying to appear enthusiastic about our little fun. Laura didn't suspect a thing as she finished the drink, and that was exactly how I wanted it.

As the night wore on, Laura seemed to relax more and more, laughing and joking with me and every other man In the Tarven. Even here, they worshiped Laura as their Alpha and even a queen. Everything she said, they all laughed and worshiped her words.

I locked eyes with the ugly woman who handed me the poison and narrowed my eyes at her as if to say never to tell anyone else……

“Sonia, look. I’m winning” Laura hurriedly played her card as she was winning.

“The ladies are winning!” I shouted excitedly, clapping. I knew I had to keep up the act, to make her believe I was genuinely interested in repairing our friendship. So I played and watched her attentively as she boosted about her wins.

Eventually, she was like an open book and talked about her plans for the pack and her dreams for the future. I nodded and smiled together with the other drunk men. I made supportive noises, all the while thinking about when the poison would take effect.

I checked the sunlight and it was almost nightfall. It’s been two hours since Laura took the poison and she wasn’t dying.

I glared at the ugly Tarven woman who tried to avoid my gaze. When she finally locked eyes with me, I communicated to her through my eyes.

“Why hasn't it worked?”

The lady shook her head. She moved her mouth and I was able to read her lips. “It takes time” I nodded, feeling impatient already.

As the evening drew to a close, Laura suggested we take a walk through the pack's grounds, enjoying the cool night air.

I groaned internally as that stupid poison took too much time to take effect. Laura has complained about her stomach hurting her but shifted it that it was the effect of too much drink. I smiled at the thought.

She doesn’t know.

I agreed to go with Laura, and we strolled side by side, the only sound being the crickets and the rustling of leaves beneath our feet.

"Hey, Laura?" I said, trying to sound casual. "Can I ask you something?" "Sure, what is it?" she replied, looking at me curiously.

"It seems weird but I was just wondering...have you ever thought about if we could ever go back to how things were before? You know, before your parents died and everything between us fell apart?"

Laura hesitated, looking unsure as she scanned the surroundings. "I don't know, Sonia. Ever since my parent died, I’ve always felt lonely”

I went in and held her hands, squeezing them tightly. “You don’t have to be alone. I am here and will always be.” I looked deep into her clear eyes. “I would do whatever I can to gain your trust back even though I never knew how I lost it in the first place.”

Laura looked at me searchingly, as if trying to read my intentions. After a moment, she nodded. "Okay, Sonia. We can be friends again like before. I’m tired of being alone and I need my best friend back too."

I smiled, feeling a small victory at my accomplishment. It was a start and also an end.

The poison must have started destroying her body even if she doesn’t know it. It was mistletoe and even the strongest werewolves die to such deadly poison.

Soon, she would be beneath my feet; dead.

Goodbye, Laura. It was worse knowing you and I would celebrate your death.

“Sonia, I think something’s wrong. I don’t feel well” Laura stumbled and I held her for support.

“Why won’t you be, Laura? You’ve been drinking the whole day.”I slowly dragged her deeper back to the pack house. “Let me take you back to your chambers” I smiled, mission accomplished.

I will finally get what I want. Even though Laura never actually did anything to me, she was still the cause of what I had become.

She always showcased her beauty and title all around, making me more jealous as the day grew by. Though my uncle was involved, I blame Laura mostly.

Uncle Magnus was the butcher that affected my life but Laura was the knife.

“Uncle was the butcher, Laura. But you were the knife.
