INVADED

Valerie.

'Something wasn't right, I could feel it.' I thought to myself hating how silent everywhere suddenly was, my thoughts were shattered by screams.

"Help, someone please, we are being attacked." I immediately got to my feet, my body becoming alert as I watched flames lit up the sky at a distance.

My heart skipped a beat as the smell of burning woods and flesh reached her nose long before I saw people on fire as they all ran, children scattered around, wailing.

I stood frozen at first, on the dirt path leading from the stream, forgetting to grab a bucket till a man ran into me, and we both crashed to the ground.

"What is wrong with you? Save yourself. The Lycans are here" He screamed right into my face before dashing off.

'Lycans?' I thought with shock as I felt shivers run down my spine because I had heard tales about them.

They were beast-like creatures, superior to werewolves who thrived on destruction and control but I could never imagine in a million years that they were real or truly here, a hidden village.

We were neither rich nor poor, with nothing special to offer, we were just people who thrived on love and cooperation but now, I watched all those of vanishing as everyone deserted their friends to save themselves.

“Mother!” I watched a teenage girl yell as she ran through her burning hut to save her family—an old-woman with broken legs who was also bleeding from her nose.

"Someone please, help us, she is dying." The girl weeped but everyone ignored her. I wanted to move but surprisingly, my feet were stuck, a lump formed in in my throat and it became too late.

Her mother’s body laid limp and I stumbled backwards, bile rising in my throat as tears rushed to the brim of my eyes.

My legs trembled, and before I could flee; someone had grabbed me by the neck.

I woke up to the sounds of Chains clinking and the cold metal biting into my wrists as I realised I was lying on the cold floor.

'Where am I?' I pondered as I glanced around to comprehend that I was in a moving cage, in an unfamiliar realm.

I jerked upright as the carriage stopped, and a soldier opened the cage door before yanking me out roughly, before I could say a word.

“I told you she wasn't dead but just shocked, we can use her.” The man holding me said to someone behind me.

He then chuckled and shoved me into the arms of another guard, who glared down at me, a long scar running down his face from his left eye.

“No! Let me go!” I screamed, but my voice was hoarse, as life drained out of me.

'Where was everyone? My mum and family?' I pondered, realizing all my struggles were in vain.

They dragged me through towering doors into a throne room that looked more like a dangerous lair than a royal court.

Two beautiful men were sitting on golden thrones, looking so identical and terrifying that they sent shivers down my spine.

'They must be the head of these monsters.' I thought, a lump forming in my throat.

They both had long golden hair, rare moonlight blue orbs and heavy builds. Their gaze ran all over me, not filled with sympathy but something darker.

“So this is the omega?” one of them asked, his voice low and menacing, unconsciously causing me to shiver.

“She is petite and looks like a peasant." The other sneered, frowning down at me.

He was pissed at that fact? Well then, he should let me go or kill me as well so I could be with my clan members.

It seemed I was the only survivor, because I was the only one in that carriage.

I struggled against the guard's grip again but seemed to be wasting my efforts as one of the twins chuckled.

“Scents doesn't lie, she is ours." He pointed out and rage burned through my veins.

'I belonged to no one— least of all to them, I'd rather have burned.' I thought.

“She’s our mate,” the second confirmed and my eyes widened in disbelief as I rapidly shook my head sideways, my heart stopping.

"Mate? O moon goddess, no!" I wanted to scream out but instead I whispered,

“That’s not possible,” my voice quivered, “You all are monsters, the moon goddess can't be that cruel." I yelled, fighting back the tears that stung my eyes.

The Lycan twins didn't even flinch and just furrowed their brows at me.

“We didn’t kill your parents.” the second twin said with a bored expression and I fought the urge to scoff.

“Our warriors did, and you aren't here for compensation." He added, standing and walking over to me slowly, like a wolf circling its prey.

“Our Luna cannot conceive. And we need an heir, so you will do just fine." He said infuriating me and I balled my hands into fists.

'How dare they? After everything they did to my people—my family.’

“I’m not someone you can command!” I shouted, breathing heavily, I tried to back away, but the chains were still bound to my wrists.

Both twins stepped closer, and the overwhelming stench of their aura exhilarated me.

They said they were my mates but why couldn't I feel anything?

I felt my knees buckle, and a strange heat bloomed in my belly.

Why, why did it have to be the people I hated so much?' I pondered, trying not to cry.

“Even if you're our mate,” the first twin murmured, tilting my chin up,

“We already have a Luna, so bonding with you isn't necessary." He said and tears slid down my cheeks as the realization set in.

I was nothing more than a breeder to them, a pawn in their plans whom they didn't give a shit about.

“She will be staying in the West wing." One of the twins said to a guard.

“Prepare her and we will come to her tonight." They both added at the same time and my heart skipped a beat.

“No! Don’t touch me.” I screamed, struggling as I was being dragged away.

My bedroom was luxurious and big with pink bedding, golden chandeliers and a massive bath steaming in the corner. It wasn’t comfortable, didn't feel like home.

I sat at the edge of the bed, as I wrapped my hands around me myself. My thoughts spun and were filled with grief, rage and confusion.

Those monsters were so cruel, but they were also my mates, I was beginning to feel the connection and I hated it.

A maid entered quietly, placing a silver tray with food and water on the table. She was about to leave when she suddenly paused in her tracks making me arch my eyebrows at her.

"Don’t try to escape, you wouldn't succeed." She said and goosebumps covered my entire body.

'What? I couldn't just stay there.' I thought and I noticed the maid gave me a pitiful glance before leaving.

Night fell even though I dreaded it and wished it didn't.

They didn’t speak. They simply entered, removed their cloaks, and approached me as I sat there with a beating heart.

One of them touched me and I flinched, especially when he grabbed my face and brought it closer to his.

"Relax, this is necessary." He commanded, his eyes meeting mine and I found myself relaxing, allowing him to touch me as I wondered if this was part of the bond.

But then in the next minute I flipped, bared my mouth open and bit his arm hard, while his twin's eyes widened in the corner.
