The Omega's Secret Baby
~ ZARA'S POV
The night sky was clear, stars twinkling above Pack Gabring.
I stood in the large hall where the wedding ceremony would take place, wearing a simple white dress that felt unfamiliar to me.
Across the room stood Alaric. The man I had admired from afar. But tonight, his cold gaze pierced my heart. We were not here because of fate or love.
I had been chosen to be his bride in a marriage arranged by the pack elders—a marriage contract that somehow became our fate.
I took a deep breath, trying to gather the courage to go through with this marriage. “This isn’t what I imagined,” I thought bitterly.
Finally, Alaric steps closer, his face still unreadable, only a stiff calmness. When he stands beside me, he glances at me briefly, as if just to make sure I’m ready.
“After this marriage is over, you know what I expect, right?” he says softly but sharply, reminding me that this marriage is merely a formality to satisfy the elders’ demands.
I swallowed the pain that was crushing my chest and nodded slowly. “I understand, Alaric. I will fulfill my duty as Luna,” I replied softly.
The ceremony began, and the sacred words binding us were spoken. Each passing second felt like a thorn piercing my heart.
Amidst the crowd surrounding us, I felt alienated, as though I were a stranger in a place that should have been my home.
“My partner should have been Gralind, the Beta wolf. Not this weak Omega!” he muttered angrily.
After the ceremony ended, we were taken to our small cottage. In the awkward silence, Alaric approached me, trying to fulfill his role as a husband despite the absence of love.
Amid the tension, somehow we slowly drew closer, trapped in a brief moment of togetherness.
The first night after the wedding ceremony was long and cold. I sat on the side of the large bed I now had to share with Alaric. Yet between us lay a distance as wide as a chasm.
Alaric stood near the window, his back to me. He seemed lost in his own thoughts, completely oblivious to my presence.
His gaze drifted far away, piercing through the dense forest outside as if he were searching for something—or more accurately, someone.
I swallowed the pain that was beginning to cut into my heart. I knew exactly who was on his mind.
“Alaric,” I called softly, trying to catch his attention.
He only mumbled without turning around.
I fell silent, feeling that his voice was cold, far from the tenderness I had hoped for. It felt like this marriage was only pushing him further away, not bringing us closer.
“It seems… you’re not comfortable with this marriage,” I finally said, trying to be honest despite the difficulty.
Alaric paused for a moment, then sighed deeply. “Zara, you know this wasn’t my choice,” he replied flatly.
I looked at him bitterly. Those words pierced straight to my heart. I knew, but hearing them from his mouth made the wound feel deeper.
“Then… who do you want?” I asked, my soft voice almost drowned out by the silence of the night.
He turned to look at me, and in his eyes, I saw a shadow—the shadow of the woman who had always filled his heart.
“Gralind! The Beta wolf,” he finally murmured.
“She’s the one who should be here with me. She’s the one who deserves to be by my side as Luna.”
I bowed my head, trying to hold back the tears that were about to fall. Gralind, the strong woman, the Beta wolf, someone who could stand equal to him as an Alpha. Unlike me, the Omega wolf was considered weak and unworthy to be by an Alpha’s side.
Every time we were together, I could see how his thoughts always returned to that woman. His vacant gaze, his indifferent murmurs—all of it proved that I was merely an invisible shadow to him.
He never even tried to get to know me or get close to me. My heart was slowly breaking in silence.
Several days passed with Alaric always seeming lost in his own thoughts. He treated me with such cold distance.
He only spoke when necessary, and every time I tried to get close, there was always an invisible wall separating us.
That night, I saw him outside the cottage, standing under the moonlight. Alaric stared at the full moon with an expression I rarely saw, sad, almost fragile.
I approached slowly, hoping to comfort him. But just as I was about to speak, he murmured softly, as if talking to himself.
"Gralind... if only you were here," he murmured softly. But it was clear enough for me to hear.
It felt like a knife had pierced my heart. On a night that should have been ours as a couple, he was longing for another woman.
My body felt stiff, and I held my breath, hoping what I had heard was just an illusion.
I turned away, leaving him alone under the moonlight. Tears finally fell, even though I tried to stay strong.
I realized I might never be the Luna he wanted. Even though we were married, his heart belonged to that other woman.
Days passed without much change. Alaric grew colder and more distant, and I became increasingly trapped in painful jealousy.
It felt pointless to try to win the heart of a man who never saw me as his true partner.
One night, the elders summoned both of us to the meeting room. They looked at us with hopeful eyes, and Elder Rolf finally began speaking.
“We need an heir from the two of you,” he said firmly. “An Alpha and Omega united will create a strong lineage, a successor who will protect the Gabring Pack from external threats.”
I bowed my head, unable to look at Alaric. Those words made me feel even smaller, just a tool desired to produce the pack’s successor. However, Alaric, standing beside me, seemed increasingly tense.
“I won’t do it,” Alaric finally said, his voice cold and firm, causing the elders to look surprised and disappointed.
Elder Rolf sighed deeply, then looked at Alaric with a serious expression. “This isn’t just about you, Alaric. We’re talking about the future of this pack.”
“I understand,” Alaric replied without hesitation. “But I won’t be forced to do something against my will.”
Those words felt like a slap to my heart. He didn’t want me and didn’t want to be with me in any way, even though the future of the pack depended on him.
