Chapter 1

Lorelei

Slavery has long since been abolished by the Lycan King, but Alpha Brian somehow got away with not just owning an assortment of slaves but also selling them and using them to secure deals with other alphas.

We were too numerous to count, and yet I stood out like a sore thumb among them. Most call it beauty, but to me, it's nothing but a curse. I was pretty, prettier than girls raised to become future Lunas, and my body was starkly different from most girls. I didn't know my body was my most potent tool until guards started looking at me longer than necessary until I could get them to do anything I wanted by just smiling at them until I could bring them to their knees by wearing a shorter dress or exposing a part of my body that should be covered up.

My mom begged me to hide it, and I did, but that became impossible when Alpha Brian started paying attention to me. He was as ruthless and power-hungry as they come, and when he discovered the enormous power my body had even when I was 15, the rest became history.

Now at 19, I have become the much-needed sexual weapon Alpha Brian uses to bring his enemies to their knees. This has landed me in an uncomfortable position with other slaves, but I've learned to deal with the hair pulling, accidental shaving cream in my shampoo, welts season, and other nasty things I've been thrown with an even bigger bitch attitude. I refuse to be put down further by jealous slaves.

Because of this, I hated men and vowed to only use them as tools; hence, I refused to let any of the lowly bastards have my virginity.

Despite the cruel conditions we face, some slaves are willing to go the extra mile to secure favor with any of the alphas. It's been a couple of months since Alina, one of the only slaves I could speak to freely, got chosen by Alpha Mason of the Ridgeway pack, and let's just say, the rumors portray her life to be a complete 180 degrees from what it used to be.

I stood in front of the large oak door, dreading whatever duty I had to perform inside. I was scantily clad in a plunging V-neck dress that barely covered my butt. Knowing that I'd be punished for being even a minute late, I pushed open the door, bowing my head to show submission immediately.

Alpha Brian's cold gaze tracked my movements like a wolf eyeing wounded prey. Across the table sat Alpha Gideon, his gnarled hands splayed over the armrests of his chair. Rumor painted him as a monster who'd broken his youngest daughter's spine for refusing a suitor.

"Ah, the famous 'refreshments,'" Alpha Gideon purred, his yellowed teeth glinting. I kept my eyes lowered as I poured wine, but his fingers brushed mine deliberately. "Brian here claims you're… 'thorough' in your duties."

I lowered my head even more as I tried to hide my nose scrunching up in disgust. My entire body was rigid as his fingers traced my thighs, moving upwards. I tried my best to stay in character, but these days it's becoming more difficult.

Through the periphery of my eyes, I watched as Alpha Brian leaned back, his face smug. "The wench ensures my alliances are… cemented."

My jaw clenched at the derogatory name Alpha Brian called me. Alpha Gideon's gaze raked over me. "I'd like her to service me tonight."

The air thickened. My knuckles whitened as I gripped the decanter with all my might. Alpha Brian studied me, waiting. He had given me one rule… never draw attention to myself. Alpha Gideon personally requesting me is the exact opposite of Alpha Brian's instructions.

I didn't even have time to speak before the silence was broken by Alpha Gideon. "Sit," he commanded, patting his lap.

Every cell in my body froze. I felt my throat tighten with a mixture of fear and apprehension. If I obeyed, Alpha Brian would assault my mother as a way to punish me for "welcoming" another alpha's touch. If I refused…

My gaze darted to Alpha Brian, who had the scariest expression I have ever seen; his face was calm, almost too calm. If not for the bulging vein on his forehead that ticked off like I was about to explode and his clenched jaw, I might have missed it.

"I… cannot, Alpha," I said softly, staring at the floor. What I just did was tantamount to insulting an alpha, a crime punishable by death, but I had no choice; I was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Alpha Gideon's chair screeched as he stood. "You dare—"

"Enough," Alpha Brian interrupted, smirking. "She knows her place." The unspoken threat hung in the air: 'Mine.'

Alpha Gideon seethed but dropped it. I let out an inaudible sigh of relief; my mind had already factored in all the possible scenarios, and none of them were in my favor.

Alpha Brian motioned with his hand for me to step back. My legs moved faster than I thought was possible as I scrambled to make myself as small as possible by the wall, anything to divert the attention from me.

The men continued their discussion, ignoring my presence like I was a fly on the wall. I have never been more grateful at being ignored. I tried my best to keep my ears away from the conversation, but I couldn't help but pick up a few words.

Vampires

Alpha Brian was dealing with vampires. After being a member of this pack since birth and working closely with the alpha, I still had no idea what business he conducted.

The discussion pivoted to the Blue Moon Festival, which was supposed to happen tomorrow. Alpha Brian boasted about the Lycan prince who would be personally gracing the ceremony with his presence for the first time. The prince was interested in signing an alliance with Alpha Brian.

I felt a pit settle in my stomach.

The blood moon festival is one of the most important celebrations for werewolves. The festival is to celebrate our werewolf heritage and the new year for wolves. The blue moon marks the start of our calendar year with the moon shining so brightly in the sky that it appears to be blue. This festival is one of the rowdiest celebrations. The full moon's presence acts like a mating ceremony, causing she-wolves to go on heat and male wolves to experience their rut once they discover their mates.

Because I'm only half-wolf, I've never felt the blue moon's presence like the other wolves; instead of euphoria, I'm plagued with constant discomfort, like my insides are being torn apart.

Alpha Gideon's excited chuckle broke my spiraling thoughts, bringing me back to the present. I didn't know when they stood up, but now both men faced each other, their hands clasped in a firm handshake as they agreed to meet during the ceremony.

I watched as Alpha Brian walked Alpha Gideon out of his office. I was glad that I wasn't mentioned in their parting discussion. I stood up straighter, glad I had nothing to worry about. I dreaded having to spend even one more minute in Alpha Gideon's presence.

Alpha Brian entered the office soon after. My eyes traced his movements from my position by the wall.

"Don't just stand there, make yourself useful," Alpha Brian barked as he settled in his chair. He didn't have to tell me twice. I quickly scrambled to the table, clearing away the dishes and cups, careful not to make a mess of things.

As I made my way to the door, Alpha Brian's last words stopped me.

"You know what to do."

Those five words shattered every hope I had. I turned to face Alpha Brian, whose eyes were already on me.

"Alpha, I…"

He slowly walked to me, stopping a few inches from me. I dropped my head down to prevent him from seeing the malice and hatred in my eyes, but I believe he could still sense it.

He lifted his hand, jutting my chin upwards as his hand traced its way to my neck, pressing slightly.

Alpha Brian squeezed my neck slightly before applying more pressure, sucking the air away from my lungs. Every trace of defiance and anger in my eyes faded as I struggled against his vice grip on my neck.

I tried to balance the tray with one hand as I used the other to claw at Alpha Brian's tightened hold on my neck. The tray fell from my hands as I scrambled against his hold. He let out a hiss, lifting me off the ground with ease to show his dominance as I thrashed against the wall.

"When I give an order, you obey without question." Alpha Brian growled, his hand tightening even further.

Black dots danced at the edge of my vision, making my movements more frantic as I struggled against his hold.

Alpha Brian released my neck, causing me to fall in a heap on top of the broken glass pieces. I let out a strangled scream as I felt the glass splinters tear into my body.

I coughed out, gasping for breath as I scrambled away from the broken glass. I heard Alpha Brian scoff and murmur about how pathetic I was.

"Get this mess cleaned up and prepare to satisfy Alpha Gideon this night. I want to hear nothing but good reports from him, or this…" He said, gesturing to my bloody mess on the floor, "This would be the least of your worries when I'm done with you. I'll carve out your mother's eyes and make you feed them to her."

I let out a muffled groan as I managed to arrange the broken pieces together. I silently cleaned the mess on the floor before exiting the room.

As I walked through the halls, I fought the blinding wave of dizziness threatening to consume me.

I pressed my hand against the wall to stabilize myself, and when I finally moved, I was greeted with a bloody handprint on the wall.

I ignored the looks I was getting from the other omega slaves as I walked as fast as I could to our tiny cottage situated in the woods.

When I reached the cottage, I burst through the door, startling my mother, who took one look at her battered daughter and let out a strangled gasp before rushing to cradle me. In her arms, I felt a fleeting peace.

She led me to the bathroom, cleaned the gashes, pulled out shards of glass, and wrapped the wounds. She applied a healing salve without saying a word. I collapsed on our small bed, eyes fluttering shut as exhaustion dragged me under.

I woke up hours later. Despite the ache in my body, I struggled my body into a barely-there dress that clung to my curves. Careful not to wake Mom, I tiptoed to the hidden crevice in the wall.

From it, I retrieved a tiny bottle—my secret weapon.

Uncorking it, I let two drops of the forbidden potion fall onto my tongue. Enough to ignite Alpha Gideon's deepest desires—and bring her one step closer to freedom.
