Melissa

This is not the end. It’s not over yet.

I tell myself as I see the rest of them fall dead in front of my eyes.

The fire surrounds me, devouring everything in its path. The air is thick and humid, almost impossible to breath. Smoke filles my lungs and stings my eyes. I can't see anything clearly anymore. Only flickers of light and shadow dancing in the haze.

I think about Jonathan and his brothers,

'You did this. This is all your fault.'

I can feel it now. My body growing cold, my limbs numb. The pain is leaving me. The electricity inside me, once alive and burning, now flickers out. My body falls hard onto the burning ground.

through the smoke, I see a figure running towards me.

It's her.

"Mother."

I whisper. Barely able to hear my own voice.

Forgive me mother. Forgive me.

The last thing I see is her crying next to me. She drops to her knees, her eyes wide with fear and sorrow. I can feel her hands trembling as she cups my face. Her touch is gentle, just like always. Soft and comforting. She pats my cheeks, tryin to keep me awake, and hugs me tight to her chest.

“It’s okay. You did well my child. You did well. It’s not over. This isn’t the end. You will all come back to me.”

She says in a shaking voice.

I can feel her pain. I have never seen her cry like this before.

I want to say something. To tell her how sorry I am, To say that we tried our best.

But my chest hurts so bad. Breathing is hard. I give up and let the words remain inside me.

The pain won't be for long, Dear Mother.

You will cry now. But soon, everyone will forget about my existence. Our existence.

I have so much more to tell you. Even crying is not possible at the moment. I will let this remain within me.

Goodbye… Mother.

I whisper in silence.

Her face begins to fade. The warmth of her arms slip away. Her voice becomes distant, like an echo in the tunnel.

The darkness engulfs me, death holding me in its cold embrace as my vision gets clouded, covered in a hazy mist. And then everything turns black.

No pain, no Fire, no sound.

All black.

All I see is nothing.
