Chapter 1: The Stage of Shadows

The concert hall was trembling with noise. Thousands of fans screamed in unison, their glow sticks lighting the darkness like scattered stars. Every chant, every heartbeat in the air was calling for one name Lucien.

Aiden stood in the crowd, chest tightening, unsure if it was excitement or fear. He had seen idols before, had even sung in small cafés himself, but nothing compared to the fever around this man. Lucien wasn’t just famous; he was a phenomenon. His posters covered city walls, his songs dominated every chart, and his beauty seemed almost unreal.

The stage lights dimmed. A hush fell. Then, with a slow burn of crimson light, Lucien appeared. He wasn’t simply walking; he moved like liquid shadow, each step dripping with allure. His black coat shimmered with faint silver embroidery, and his pale skin glowed under the red beams. When his eyes lifted, sharp, glowing, almost too alive, Aiden felt the world stop.

The music hit. Lucien sang, voice velvet and thunder at once. It seeped into the bones, heavy and intoxicating. Aiden felt his throat go dry. It wasn’t just singing. It was like a spell, wrapping itself around every heart in the hall.

Somewhere deep down, Aiden realized: This isn’t normal.

Fans cried, shouted, and even fainted as Lucien’s gaze swept across them. But for a fleeting second, Aiden was certain those glowing eyes were locked on him. His chest clenched. He should have looked away, but he couldn’t. There was danger in that stare, but also something irresistible.

By the end of the performance, Aiden was trembling. The applause was deafening, but his own world felt strangely silent. Something inside him had shifted.

Later, outside the venue, Aiden waited in the cold air, trying to steady his breath. He couldn’t explain why, but he lingered. The city lights blurred, and he thought of leaving, until the sound of quiet footsteps froze him.

A tall figure emerged from the shadows of the alley. Lucien.

Up close, he was even more terrifyingly beautiful. His presence pressed against the air, heavy yet magnetic. His lips curved in a knowing smile, sharp at the edges.

“You,” Lucien said, voice like silk laced with hunger. “I saw you in the crowd.”

Aiden’s heart stuttered.

“You… noticed me?”

Lucien stepped closer, and Aiden instinctively moved back against the wall. The idol’s gaze glowed faintly in the dark, almost inhuman. He leaned forward, too close, his breath brushing Aiden’s skin.

“You’re different,” Lucien whispered. “Your heartbeat… it sings louder than the rest.”

Aiden swallowed, trying to make sense of it. But before he could reply, Lucien’s fingers brushed against his wrist, cold, impossibly cold. The touch sent shivers racing through his veins.

“Don’t be afraid,” Lucien murmured, though his eyes told another story. They promised danger. They promised obsession.

And for reasons Aiden couldn’t explain, he didn’t

Later, outside the venue, Aiden lingered in the cold night air, unsure why he hadn’t gone home. He told himself he was just overwhelmed, but the truth was stranger, he felt pulled. The city lights flickered against the wet pavement, neon signs glowing faintly in the mist. He tried to steady his breath, stuffing his hands into his jacket, when quiet footsteps echoed from the alley.

A tall figure emerged from the shadows. Lucien.

Up close, he was terrifyingly beautiful.

Lucien stepped closer. The faint scent of smoke and something darker, iron, perhaps, clung to him. His eyes glimmered, catching the dim light unnaturally. Aiden found himself pressed against the wall without realizing he had backed away.

“You’re different,” Lucien whispered. “Your heartbeat… it sings louder than the rest.”

Aiden swallowed hard, his pulse pounding in his ears. He wanted to ask what that meant, but the words stuck. Lucien’s fingers brushed his wrist cold, impossibly cold. The touch sent shivers racing through his veins.

“Don’t be afraid,” Lucien murmured, though his eyes told another story. They promised danger. They promised obsession.

And for reasons Aiden couldn’t explain, he didn’t run.

A car honked nearby, breaking the spell. Lucien straightened, stepping back, his smirk curling like smoke.

“You’ll see me again,” he said, almost like a command rather than a promise. Then, as suddenly as he had appeared, he slipped back into the shadows, leaving Aiden shaken and breathless.

That night, sleep refused to come. Aiden tossed in his bed, Lucien’s voice replaying in his mind, the feel of his icy touch lingering. He told himself it was just adrenaline, a surreal encounter with a celebrity, but deep inside, he knew it was more. That gaze had pierced through him, like something ancient had marked him.

The following day, Aiden dragged himself through work at the tiny café where he sang on weekends. The smell of coffee clung to his clothes as he wiped tables and forced smiles at customers. But every moment, his thoughts drifted back to the concert. His co-worker, Mia, noticed his distraction.

“You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” she teased, sliding a latte across the counter.

“Something like that,” Aiden muttered, staring at the swirling foam.

Mia leaned closer. “Don’t tell me you’re obsessing over Lucien like the rest of the world. He’s… untouchable.”

Aiden gave a weak laugh. “Yeah. Untouchable.”

But the word felt false. Because Lucien had touched him.

That evening, as Aiden closed the café alone, the bell above the door chimed softly. He turned and froze.

Lucien stood there, dressed in black from head to toe, his aura filling the small shop like a storm cloud.

“You…” Aiden’s voice cracked.

Lucien’s smirk was faint, almost secretive. “Did you think I wouldn’t find you?”

“How, why are you here?”

Lucien walked closer, every movement deliberate, predatory. “Because you intrigue me, Aiden.” His voice dropped lower. “And I don’t let intrigue slip away.”

Aiden’s breath hitched. He should have been afraid, truly afraid, but instead he felt that same dangerous pull, stronger now, undeniable.

Lucien stopped just inches away, his gaze burning. “Do you want to know the truth about me?”

Aiden hesitated. His mind screamed to push him away, to run, but his heart whispered, 'yes.'

And in that charged silence, Aiden realized his life had already changed forever.
