CHAPTER 1

After so many years, good news had finally arrived at the BloodMoon pack. The news of the Supreme Alpha's son brought into the world sent the whole pack into a celebration mode. Congratulations rang everywhere as people rejoiced; people trooped in from everywhere to celebrate with the Alpha and his newborn.

Tomorrow was going to be the Grand Feast, the day the baby was finally going to be named, and a lot of people had arrived already. Invitations were sent to all of the Alphas, and most of them showed up, except a few who sent back messages apologizing for not being able to come. Haven, as the Luna, had a lot of work to do. She had been up and about, performing her Lunar duties, welcoming guests, and making sure everything was going according to plan.

"You should have something to eat, you've been running around since morning, aren't you tired?" Rosie walked out of the kitchen holding a plate of steamy pancakes. Her eyes were fixed on Haven and Avena, who were seated in the living room.

"Don't even bother," Avena shook her head at Rosie. "She wouldn't eat. I've tried my best, but she always says—"

"I'm busy, I'll eat later," Haven spoke up, her eyes glued to a list in her hands. She murmured something to herself and ticked some boxes off the list.

"That," Avena shook her head again. "She always says that."

"I can't believe this!" Rosie set the plate down and slumped on a sofa beside Avena. "Why on earth is she drowning herself in so much work?"

"I don't know.. I think she's just trying to pass the time.. You know," Avena lowered her voice. " The Alpha has been way too busy these days— especially with the baby— he hardly has time to come home— and Haven's probably using this as an excuse to get away with loneliness"

"This is all that evil woman Natasha's fault." Rosie clenched her fists. "She's intentionally making the Alpha stay back. She wants to come between the two of them."

"I know, right?" Avena gritted her teeth. "I really despise that woman."

"If you two are done talking, then you can keep quiet and let me concentrate." Haven's eyes were still glued to her list. It wasn't hard to hear them whispering as they sat just opposite her.

Rosie groaned, "Oh come on, Haven. Can't you see what's going on? That bitch is trying to take your man away from you."

"Yes," Avena supported, " If we can see it, why can't you? You have to do something, you can't let Natasha win—"

"No one is trying to take anyone," Haven interrupted, finally looking up. "I've told you this several times. Lucious is just busy, he's busy with work and with his child."

"His child?" Rosie scoffed, "She's using the child as an excuse, can't you see that? She's just using that poor child to get to Lucious, and it's working. He doesn't even have time to come check up on you anymore."

"Lucious is just busy with work, I told you!" Haven didn't know why she suddenly felt offended, maybe because deep down, she too knew Rosie and Avena were telling the truth.

"What kind of work doesn't allow you to come to your own home, which is barely two doors away?"

Haven opened her mouth to say something, but gave up and got to her feet instead. "You know what? I can't with both of you right now. I have a lot of work tomorrow, so I'll go get myself some good night's sleep." She glared at both of them, "Goodnight," She added and stormed off. Avena sighed while Rosie shook her head. They quietly prayed that Haven would see what Natasha was trying to do before it was too late.

The moment Haven reached her apartment, she headed straight for her room. She stepped into the room she shared with Lucious; it looked dull and felt empty with him here. The only thing that gave her little comfort was his scent, which still lingered in the air. She sighed and went to the bathroom to take a bath.

Once done, she put on her sleeping bed and headed to bed, alone, just like every other regular night. But tonight was different. As Haven lay there, she felt hot tears start to wet the pillow beneath. She sucked in a sharp breath, her body racked quietly with sobs. Everything Rosie said earlier pricked her heart. She knew they were right, but she couldn't bring herself to agree with them.

It's been days since Natasha was put to bed, and ever since Lucious had returned to the pack, she had caught sight of him only a few times, and during those times, he never looked her way. He always seemed to be in deep conversations with others, giving out some orders, or even rushing off.

Haven had even forgotten the last time they had talked. The only time she heard from him was when his Beta or Gamma had official Alpha orders to deliver to her as the Luna. She felt extremely horrible. She chose to stay back here only because Lucious had stopped her from leaving that day.

Had she known things were going to turn out like this, she would have left the moment she regained her consciousness. But no, she had to allow herself to be such a fool and stay back, thinking things would improve. They had only gotten worse.

There was a sudden movement at the door, and Haven paused her crying, her ears perked in alert. She heard someone push open the door and stepped in, then she felt footsteps start to approach her. Her body was on high alert now, but she didn't move. She wondered who would have the audacity to step into the Alpha's room when the scent of earth after rain suddenly hit her nose.

Haven's eyes closed, she felt her wolf stir in delight at the lovely scent. She knew who it was even before he reached her bedside. The space beside her caved in as his weight landed on it. The smell was much more pungent now, and Haven resisted the urge to open her eyes to see the one person she had been craving to see all this time.

No, she wouldn't open her eyes. She was so angry at Lucious that she didn't even want to see his face, let alone talk to him, so she pretended to be asleep. Lucious wouldn't want to disturb her once he sees she's sleeping, so he'll have no option but to leave from here. Haven planned to keep up with the act till she heard Lucious leave the room, but all her plans went down the drain the moment she felt him lean towards her, his breath hot on her face.

"My love…" He called out in a low voice, "Won't you open your eyes to see me?"
