Introduction
Synopsis Luna was born the weakest wolf in her pack, an omega who couldn’t shift, couldn’t fight, and was mocked by everyone, even her destined mate. On her twentieth birthday, Alpha Damon shattered her heart with two words: “I reject you.” Banished and broken, Luna vanished into the wilderness, discovering the truth of her bloodline and a gift no wolf had ever possessed. She returned five years later, not as the helpless girl they once scorned, but as a powerful healer who could command life itself. Now the pack that once rejected her is on its knees. Damon, the alpha who betrayed her, wants her back. Desperate for her power, desperate for her love. But Luna is no longer the same omega he abandoned. She has already given her heart to Kai, the dangerous rogue alpha who claimed her when no one else would. The Night Everything Changed

The kitchen knife slipped from Luna Silverwood’s trembling hands, clattering to the floor. Twenty-one years old, and she still couldn’t hold a blade steady for more than a few seconds.

“Pathetic,” sneered Scarlett Morrison from the doorway. The Beta’s daughter leaned against the frame with effortless poise, her cold blue eyes glittering with cruel delight. “Can’t even prep vegetables without shaking like a leaf.”

Luna bent quickly to retrieve the knife, her light brown hair falling forward like a curtain to shield her burning cheeks. Around the kitchen, other pack members snickered and whispered, their voices sharp enough to cut her skin.

“Weakest omega in pack history.”

“Can barely shift for two minutes.”

“Why does Alpha Damon keep her around?”

Their laughter twisted into her ribs like a blade. Luna’s wolf stirred weakly inside her mind, a tiny silver creature that shimmered faintly but could barely maintain physical form. Most wolves shifted for hours without strain. Luna’s wolf collapsed from exhaustion after mere minutes.

Why am I even here? She thought bitterly, though she swallowed it down, as always. Showing pain only fed their cruelty.

“Hurry up,” Scarlett snapped, her long nails clicking against the counter in impatience. “Tonight’s the mating ceremony. Everything has to be perfect when Damon chooses me as his Luna.”

Her tone dripped with certainty. Of course, everyone expected Alpha Damon to pick Scarlett. She was strong, stunning, and came from a powerful Beta bloodline. Luna was nothing, an orphaned omega whose parents had died when she was only seven, leaving her with no protection, no allies, and no status.

“Yes, Scarlett,” Luna whispered, gripping the knife tightly, forcing her trembling hands to slice the carrots into even pieces.

The Moonstone Pack house was full of energy. Laughter, footsteps, and the clinking of glasses echoed through the wide space as guests from nearby packs gathered to watch their Alpha choose his mate.

At twenty five, Damon Blackwood was the most desirable Alpha in North America. His Luna would not only stand at his side but also strengthen his leadership with prestige and bloodlines.

Luna had been foolishly in love with him since she was sixteen. Not that he had ever noticed her beyond barking orders in the kitchen or assigning menial chores. Someone like her could never catch the attention of the strongest Alpha alive.

“Luna!” Beta Marcus’s voice thundered across the kitchen, startling her so badly she nearly cut her hand. “Alpha wants to see you. Now.”Her heart hammered against her ribs. Damon never summoned her personally. What could he possibly want with her before the most important night of his life?

She wiped her hands on her apron and followed Marcus through the corridors filled with guests. Wolves from visiting packs stepped aside as she passed, though their sneers and whispers lingered like poisoned thorns.

“Look at her walk. No presence at all.”

“Twenty-one and still can’t hold a proper shift.”

“Embarrassment to our species.”

Every word scraped against her ears, but she forced her chin lower, praying they wouldn’t notice her trembling.

Marcus stopped at the Alpha’s office, knocked once, then shoved her inside before walking away.

Damon Blackwood sat behind his massive oak desk, blue eyes as cold as winter storms. His dark hair was perfectly combed, his broad shoulders straight beneath his tailored black jacket. The sheer force of his aura pressed against her like an invisible hand, demanding submission.

“Luna,” he said. His deep voice rolled through the room, smooth and dangerous.

“Alpha,” she murmured, keeping her eyes fixed on the floor.

“Tonight I choose my mate. You’ll serve at the ceremony. Stay invisible. Don’t embarrass me in front of the other Alphas.”

Her throat tightened. “Yes, Alpha.”

“If you cause any disruption,” he added, his voice colder still, “you’ll be banished permanently.”

Luna’s blood turned to ice. Banishment meant death for someone like her. She couldn’t hunt, couldn’t fight, couldn’t survive alone.

“I… I understand, Alpha.”

Damon gave a curt nod, dismissing her with a wave of his hand. She fled before he could speak another word, her stomach twisting with dread.

Hours later, the great hall overflowed with wolves from five different packs. The air was thick with the musky mix of dominance and perfume, and the polished wood floors shone beneath the golden chandeliers. Luna worked in the shadows, head bowed, refilling drinks and clearing plates, trying to remain unnoticed.

The visiting Alphas spoke in hushed but audible tones, their approving voices cutting into her chest.

“Scarlett’s perfect for him,” said Alpha David from Creek Pack. “Strong bloodlines, good birthing hips.”

“Beautiful too,” agreed Alpha Robert. “She’ll make fine Alpha pups.”

Luna’s chest ached at their words. She forced the pain down, clinging to her task like it was the only thing keeping her alive.

“Attention!” Damon’s commanding voice boomed, cutting through all conversation. Instantly, the massive hall fell silent.

“Tonight, under the full moon’s blessing,” he announced, his presence filling every corner of the hall, “I claim my mate.”

Thunderous cheers erupted. Luna shrank deeper into the shadows as Damon stepped into the center, looking magnificent in his black formal wear.

Scarlett moved to the front, glowing in a crimson dress that hugged her curves, radiating confidence. She already looked like the Luna everyone expected her to be.

“But first,” Damon continued, raising his hand for silence, “ancient law requires me to check for any goddess-chosen bonds within our pack.”

A ripple of surprise spread through the crowd. Most modern Alphas ignored the old rituals, preferring to select mates for politics and power. Why was Damon bothering with something so outdated?

Elder Patricia stepped forward, carrying an ornate silver chalice. “By moon’s light and ancient law, we call upon the goddess to reveal destined bonds.”

She handed Damon the chalice filled with blessed water. He drank deeply, then raised his head and spoke words that would change Luna’s life forever.

“Great Moon Goddess, mother of all wolves, if my destined mate walks among us tonight, let the sacred bond be revealed.”

The moment the words left his lips, agony exploded through Luna’s chest. Something deep inside her roared to life an inferno blazing between her and the Alpha.

Her weak wolf surged suddenly with desperate strength, howling a single word over and over: MATE! MATE! MATE!

No… no, Goddess, please not him. Not here, not in front of everyone. Please, anyone but him…

The invisible bond yanked her forward. She stumbled into view, catching herself on a serving table as every eye in the room swung toward her.

“No,” Damon whispered, horror twisting his handsome face. “This is impossible.”

The bond pulsed like a living thing, chains of destiny linking them together. Luna tried to back away, to disappear, but she was trapped in its pull.

“The goddess has spoken,” Elder Patricia declared, her voice clear and strong. “Your fated mate stands revealed, Alpha.”

“She is NOT my mate!” Damon roared, unleashing his Alpha power. The very walls rattled, windows shuddering in their frames. Weaker wolves dropped to their knees, gasping under the crushing weight of his aura. “I will not accept this abomination!”

The bond seared through Luna’s body. Blood trickled from her nose and mouth. Her fragile wolf whimpered inside her mind, buckling under the strain.

Gasps and whispers filled the hall:

“She can barely shift!”

“Weakest omega in pack history.”

“How can the goddess make her a mate?”

“This must be a test.”

Every word was a dagger, but Luna forced herself to stand tall. She would not collapse, not here, not now.

Damon strode forward, towering over her small frame. His blue eyes burned with revulsion.

“Look at her,” he spat to the crowd. “Look at this pathetic excuse for a wolf. Twenty-one years old and she can barely shift for minutes. She can’t fight, can’t hunt, can’t do anything useful.”

“Damon,” Alpha David interjected carefully, “the mate bond is sacred”

“Not this one,” Damon snapped, cutting him off. “This is a cruel joke that needs correction.”

His glare cut into Luna like a blade. “You disgust me. You always have. You always will. The sight of you makes me physically sick.”

Her wolf whimpered, desperate for the bond to be accepted, desperate for love. But Luna already knew better. Hope had always been dangerous.

“I, Damon Blackwood, Alpha of the Moonstone Pack,” he declared for all to hear, “formally reject you, Luna Silverwood, as my mate.”

The rejection struck like lightning. Luna doubled over as the bond shattered, agony ripping through her soul. Blood poured from her mouth and nose. Her wolf screamed in anguish, then fell silent, leaving her hollow.

But Damon wasn’t finished.

“You are nothing. You have always been nothing. And you will always be nothing to me. I would rather die alone than be cursed with something as weak and defective as you.”

“Alpha,” Elder Patricia said sharply, “such cruelty goes against”

“I’ll speak how I choose,” Damon cut her off coldly. He turned to Scarlett, who practically glowed with triumph. “Scarlett Morrison, will you accept my proposal to be my chosen mate and Luna?”

“Yes!” Scarlett rushed forward, slipping her hand into his, her eyes gleaming as she threw Luna a victorious look. “Of course I accept!”

Through blood and tears, Luna forced out the required words. “I… I accept your rejection, Alpha Damon.”

The formal acceptance severed the bond completely. Something inside her chest tore apart, leaving a gaping void. The pain was so raw she couldn’t even scream.

She knelt bleeding on the floor, four hundred wolves watching in silence. Some looked ashamed of their Alpha’s cruelty, but none dared challenge him.

Slowly, Luna pushed herself upright on shaking legs. She scanned the crowd of wolves she’d cooked for, cleaned for, served since her childhood. Not one reached out. Their eyes avoided hers, as though she carried some deadly disease.

“Congratulations,” she whispered to Damon and Scarlett, her voice hollow.

Then she turned and walked out of the hall. Past the whispers, past the stares, through the pack house doors, into the cold night.

Behind her, the mating ritual began as though she had never existed.

The pack house faded into the distance as Luna stumbled into the dark forest. She had no destination, no plan, only a desperate need to escape the humiliation burning in her veins.

Her body burned with fever, rejection poison spreading through her like wildfire. Every step was agony.

Branches whipped her arms and face, but she didn’t care. She just kept moving, farther and farther from the pack that had never wanted her.

Her breaths grew ragged. Her wolf whimpered weakly, fading in her mind. Don’t leave me, Luna pleaded silently, but the little silver wolf only shivered, too weak to answer.

Just a little farther, she told herself. Only away.Away from them.

Hours passed. Her legs shook violently, threatening to give out. When she finally stumbled upon a creek, her body collapsed against the muddy bank.

Blood from internal injuries stained the earth. Tears blurred her vision. She was too broken to rise.

This was where she would die. Alone and forgotten, just as she had lived.

At least the pain will end, she thought faintly. At least I won’t have to see their disgusted faces anymore.

Her eyes fluttered shut. Her last thought was simple, broken.

So this is how I die.

Darkness closed in.But just as it did, the water beside her began to glow with a faint, silver light…
