Chapter 40 Drag Her into the Room

Zhang Kai sat aside and looked at Song Shuang's expression. He was afraid that Qu Xiaobo would babble.

Qu Xiaobo and he had known Song Shuang and his wife for a decade. Gu Baisheng's death was a hard hit to Song Shuang, and Zhang Kai and Qu Xiaobo were all aware of that.

Besides, they were still terrified when thinking about how Song Shuang went to Hancheng and brought back Gu Baisheng's body.

Song Shuang acted like normal now, but that was only in front of others.

Who knew how he would feel when he was alone?

"Alright, Bobo, stop it."

Zhang Kai tried to cover Qu Xiaobo's mouth.

Yet Qu Xiaobo suddenly bit Zhang Kai's finger since she was drunk.

Zhang Kai was hurt by the bite, so he quickly moved his hand away.

Song Shuang also took down Qu Xiaobo's arm that was dragging him and gave her to Zhang Kai, "She's drunk. Take her back."

"Oh, Ok." Zhang Kai held Qu Xiaobo in his arms and tried to stuff Qu Xiaobo into the car. When he finally put her in the back seat, he closed the door with a bang to stop her. He turned back to talk to Song Shuang, "Bobo was really close to Gu Baisheng. You know that ever since Gu Baisheng was gone, Bobo has been sad. She always babbles when she's drunk. Please don't..."

"Bai Shengsheng just had dinner with you two, didn't she?"

Song Shuang interrupted Zhang Kai as if not hearing what he said before.

Looking at Song Shuang's horrifying look, Zhang Kai said weakly, "Yeah... We had dinner together because we met in the night market. It was a coincidence, so we..."

"I'm heading home. You guys should go home too."

Song Shuang didn't have the patience to hear all these. His eyes were deep and dark like a black hole, which scared Zhang Kai.

Song Shuang turned back and got into his car. He speeded up and left.

Qu Xiaobo was still slapping the window in the back seat.

After a while, her numb brain suddenly remembered there was a button to open the window. She then pressed it to lower the window. She grabbed Zhang Kai's sleeve and asked, "What's going on? Where's Song Shuang? Why did you lock me in the car? I was about to give him the wonderful news. He would be so happy to hear it! So happy!"

Qu Xiaobo was so drunk that she started rambling. Seeing that, Zhang Kai put her hand back inside the car. He opened the door and got in as well. He then said to the taxi driver, "Jianqiao Apartment, thank you."

"No problem." The driver responded. He raised his eyebrows and looked at the rearview mirror. The driver couldn't help but reminded him, "Don't let her puke in my car."

Zhang Kai immediately covered Qu Xiaobo's mouth, "Stop talking. In case you'll puke."

Qu Xiaobo was very drunk. Feeling her mouth being covered by Zhang Kai, she tried to take his hands off. But Zhang Kai wouldn't let go, and Qu Xiaobo couldn't do anything. Her mouth was covered all the way back.

On the other hand, Song Shuang was holding the steering wheel. His cold and handsome face was as emotionless as usual.

But one could see it if looking at him carefully.

He had a different look in his eyes, unlike his usual calmness.

He was troubled.

He was troubled by something urgent.

What Qu Xiaobo said was like a seed that started to grow in his heart.

...

When Gu Baisheng got off the car, she walked on the pebble road.

The wind was getting cooler at night.

Maybe because it was late.

Gu Baisheng pulled the hood of her down jacket over her head and pulled up the turtleneck of her sweater to block the cold wind that blew to her face.

The streetlamp was shining brightly.

She could hear the sounds of a young couple walking and flirting.

Gu Baisheng heard the girl who was walking on the pebble road beside her giggled. She asked the boy flighty, "Pan proposed to Ya. When are you going to propose to me?"

"Propose?"

The boy laughed too. He flirted back in an indecent manner, "Then I'll propose to you tonight when we get back. I'll propose to you in a pose we never tried before."

"You're awful. Someone might hear you."

The girl gently punched on the chest of the boy.

Gu Baisheng looked through the gap of the branches of the plants and saw the girl blushing.

The girl met her eyes. She immediately threw herself into the arms of the boy embarrassedly. She mumbled and complained, "Someone really heard it. You just can't stop saying nonsense."

"So, what if someone heard it?"

"You're shameless."

The girl laughed and joked with the boy and walked away.

Gu Baisheng touched her nose and suddenly slowed down under the streetlamp.

Because when she walked under the lamp, she saw some pieces of snowflakes falling from the lamp slowly.

She reached out her hand curiously and let the white snowflakes fall in her palm.

She was surprised, "It really snowed."

The snow on Christmas Eve was always exceptionally beautiful in young people's eyes.

All kinds of nice sayings were also attached to it.

Looking at the snowflakes that fell on her palm, Gu Baisheng suddenly remembered the New Year when she was twenty-one.

It was also the time near the New Year. Everyone was busy stocking for the Spring Festival in the market.

Gu Baisheng walked on the thin snow with her mother. When she looked up, she saw Song Shuang across the street in the crowd. He put his hands in the pocket of his coat and looked at her surprisingly.

Their eyes met.

Gu Baisheng didn't know whether she should greet him. After all, there was a street in between them.

Yet at this moment, the signal turned green on the sidewalk. Song Shuang walked towards her from across.

He first greeted Hu Hui politely.

At then, Song Shuang wasn't someone who was so warm that he would greet the parents of his schoolmates actively.

Yet, Song Shuang did that.

She thought that was rare. So, when Song Shuang left, she gave Song Shuang a bag of chestnut roasted with sugar that she and her mother bought from the supermarket.

Song Shuang rejected it politely. They had a quick chat, and he said goodbye.

During the whole time, he seemed gentle and calm.

Gu Baisheng even thought that Song Shuang was a fake one.

Because when he greeted his mother with a smile, he also looked a bit nervous, which was something that never happened.

Because he was always calm.

Only that once was he not.

Because when she stuffed the chestnut in his hand, she noticed his hand was slightly shaking.

When Song Shuang was still a student, would he get nervous when he met the parents of his schoolmates?

Thinking about that, Gu Baisheng suddenly smiled.

Her mood was also much better in an instant.

Even though she had a lot of conflicts with Song Shuang, she couldn't deny that Song Shuang was cute on occasion.

Gu Baisheng went on the elevator with a smile. She then took out her keys to open the door.

She just stuck the key into the keyhole.

She only twisted half of a circle, and the door was opened.

She was startled.

When she saw it was Song Shuang, she was relieved, "You..."

"Come in."

Song Shuang coldly spitted out two words and dragged her into the room.

He was fast and sudden. She didn't even get the time to pull the key out of the keyhole.

"Wait. The key is still outside... Um..."

She didn't finish her sentence.

Song Shuang grabbed her hand impatiently and pressed it on the wall. He then leaned over and kissed her.

Gu Baisheng opened her eyes wide. Her mind was blank.

Song Shuang's kiss was intense, as if he had been suppressing it for long and suddenly letting it out. He kissed so hard that her lips hurt.

She was not unfamiliar with Song Shuang's kiss.

Because at the time when she was at her best with Song Shuang, they were a very normal couple.

They did everything a married couple would do, and she fulfilled her responsibility to satisfy her husband.

When Song Shuang had sex with her for the first time, he was impatient and careful.

At then, it had been over a year and closed to two years since she gave birth to her child.

It was also the third year of their marriage.

Song Shuang had sex with her for the first time since they got married. She was scared and embarrassed.

Song Shuang comforted her and kissed her gently.

But later, the deeper he reached, the more he showed signs of losing control.

But in the end, Song Shuang didn't completely lose control. Yet that was quite a torment for her.

When they did it for the second time, he had to coax her for a long time to get her to adapt to him.

This time, Song Shuang didn't say anything and directly kissed her. He followed on and kissed her neck and collar bone. She felt something was going wrong.

She took a breath and smelt alcohol in the air. She understood immediately, "Have you been drinking?"

Song Shuang didn't answer, but he stopped.

As if suddenly becoming sobber.

He stepped back suddenly and let go of her hand. He stared at her with his black eyes, "You're not her..."

Gu Baisheng was confused by what he said.

After thinking for a while, she realized what Song Shuang meant.

He probably thought she was Gu Baisheng.

Drunk men were prone to fool around.

She knew that.

"I'll make you tea to sober up. Go take a shower."

Gu Baisheng didn't show a hint of anger or embarrassment after being kissed and offended by him as if she were used to this. She tidied up her collar and walked past him.

Song Shuang watched her walking past him. He suddenly raised his hands and covered his face. He exhaled a long breath agitatedly.

What was wrong with him?

He listened to that drunk woman, Qu Xiaobo, and he believed that wild nonsense.

Or maybe he just hadn't touched a woman for too long, so he simply wanted a woman to release his stress.
