Xiao Rong slept till the afternoon when all the classes were finished.

When the bell was ringing after school,

Xiao Rong opened his eyes dazedly as if being woken by the ring.

Gu Baisheng was checking on equipment and sanitary environment of patient wards nearby. Hearing the noise coming from Xiao Rong's sickbed, she opened the curtain and came in.

"Are you awake?"

Xiao Rong saw Gu Baisheng, but his memory was a bit blurred. He thought for a while dazedly and then nodded. He raised up his hands and tried to sign.

Gu Baisheng couldn't understand much sign language, so she asked, "I'll pour you a glass of water. I can't understand what you mean. Can you write it in a notebook later?"

Gu Baisheng left and poured Xiao Rong a glass of tepid water. She then took a notebook and a pen to let Xiao Rong write on it.

After taking over these things, Xiao Rong didn't drink the water first. Instead, he wrote "Thank you" on the notebook with the pen.

Seeing that, Gu Baisheng handed over him the glass of water with a smile, "You're welcome. It's my duty. I'm the school doctor now."

While speaking, Gu Baisheng pointed at the nameplate hung on her white coat.

It was clearly written: School Doctor, Bai Shengsheng.

Xiao Rong was surprised.

Gu Baisheng hinted that he should drink the water.

So he raised the glass and took a sip.

Gu Baisheng looked at him with a smile, "What a coincidence! It's lucky that we meet again here."

Xiao Rong nodded.

He raised up one hand and tried to sign. But remembering that Gu Baisheng couldn't understand it, he quickly picked up the pen beside him and wrote, "I'm sorry I left without saying goodbye last time. They're looking for me and I didn't want you to implicate."

"Who are they?"

Gu Baisheng asked Xiao Rong.

Xiao Rong looked down. Clearly, he didn't want to carry on.

Gu Baisheng had her guesses. But since Xiao Rong didn't want to say anything, she couldn't just ask him to confirm her guesses.

So she just smiled, "That's OK. This time you won't let me implicate me again. I just work at this school."

Xiao Rong looked up. One could see his struggles from his eyes. It was as if he couldn't make the decision about something.

He fell silent for a while and wrote a line of words. Then he showed it to Gu Baisheng.

Gu Baisheng saw the words.

"You should quit. This is not a good school. You'll be out of luck when you are staying here. Many teachers resigned. No one dares to apply for the school doctor here even with such a high salary."

"But I came. Relax. I can handle it. You don't need to worry about me."

Gu Baisheng was confident that she could take this job.

Xiao Rong blinked and looked worried.

"Are you sure?"

Gu Baisheng looked at him and nodded, "Of course. If I'm not, I won't apply to this job."

"Then will you leave in the future?"

Xiao Rong was hesitant when he wrote this.

Gu Baisheng looked in his eyes and smiled, "No. It's hard enough for me to find this job. I won't leave any time soon."

"Then under what situation will you leave?"

Gu Baisheng thought about it and joked, "Maybe maternity leave."

Xiao Rong looked surprised.

He didn't seem to be expecting this answer. He hesitated and asked again, "Are you married?"

"Yeah."

Gu Baisheng nodded.

Xiao Rong looked at her quietly as if he was memorizing something, "Have we met before last time?"

Gu Baisheng was surprised.

She didn't expect Xiao Rong to remember the fact that they had met even before. She smiled, "Yes. Last time, at Jinshayuan, when you were bit by that pit bull, I stopped your bleeding and patched you up temporarily."

What Gu Baisheng said shocked Xiao Rong into widening his eyes.

No wonder he thought she was so familiar.

It turned out that they had met before.

"It was you..."

Xiao Rong wrote down three words.

Gu Baisheng smiled gently, "Yes."

Xiao Rong wrote another "Thank you" on the notebook.

His frequent expression of gratitude made Gu Baisheng feel that he was too polite. She knew that Xiao Rong didn't eat for a whole day, so she had already bought food from the canteen.

The food in this institute was quite nice. Especially for teachers, they got five different dishes. The students also got three.

Gu Baisheng couldn't understand what kind of serious situation in this school would make everybody reluctant to work here.

"I grabbed some food from the canteen. Have some."

Gu Baisheng brought Xiao Rong's food over and put it on the small table by the bed.

Seeing the food in the container, Xiao Rong glanced at Gu Baisheng. He laid his eyes on her face for a longer time.

Xiao Rong reached out for the chopsticks.

When he just grabbed them, he heard a voice that was full of respect coming from the entrance of the infirmary, "Miss Yo, here it is."

"Why does he make trouble at this school every day?"

The woman sounded displeased.

But her voice sounded beautiful. If she weren't talking in such an impatient tone, she could sound charming.

"This is not Xiao Rong's fault."

"What?"

The woman asked suspiciously.

The one who was talking immediately changed his words, "Mr. Xiao Rong looks quiet but he constantly fights with his classmates when the teacher is away. Even though he can't talk, he makes a lot of trouble. The teacher on the news, jumped off the building because he was too annoying."

The woman then said slowly, "Then why aren't you regulating him? Don't you know why my dad sent him here?"

The woman sounded serious.

She frightened the two teachers so much that they didn't dare to speak.

Hearing the sound at the door, Xiao Rong's finger trembled and he dropped the chopsticks on the ground.

Maybe the sound of chopsticks dropping attracted the attention of the people who were at the door.

The woman who was called Miss Yo turned around.

For the first time, Gu Baisheng clearly saw Miss Yo's face.

She praised her beauty at heart.

But then looking at how scared Xiao Rong turned when he saw this Miss Yo, she felt sorry for her.

Even though she was beautiful.

But Xiao Rong clearly would attract more attention than her.

They should be sister and litter brother.

Gu Baisheng remembered the dog that bit Xiao Rong. It was also Xiao You's dog. She smiled and gave another pair of chopsticks to Xiao Rong. She then stood up and closed the curtain, blocking the sibling's views.

Xiao You saw an unimpressive school doctor daring to close the curtain. She frowned her beautiful eyebrows and asked the dean by her side, "Is this the new school doctor you hired?"

"Yes."

The dean nodded with sweat on his forehead.

"Why doesn't she understand the rules here? Can't I see my own brother? Your school doctor is really idle. She has time to mind other's business."

Even though Xiao You was talking to the dean, she was looking at Gu Baisheng.

She clearly was unhappy about Gu Baisheng meddling with her business and keeping her from seeing Xiao Rong.

The dean was obsequious, "She is new here."

"New?" Xiao You smiled coldly. Her fire-red lips curled up and she looked at Gu Baisheng, "So the new one wants to make some troubles, huh?"

Hearing that, the dean trembled.

He knew that Xiao Yo was infuriated.

He looked at Gu Baisheng with an awful expression and hinted her to open up the curtain with his eyes.

Gu Baisheng not only didn't open the curtain but stood in front of it. She looked at Xiao You with a smile, "The patient is not in the state for visits. Miss Xiao You, stop talking so loud. It's quite noisy."
