Chapter 260 The Happy Event

"What?"

Lin Fengya smiled and asked, "What is the happy event?"

She wanted to know what her sister-in-law was up to.

"A happy event that you don't know about." Song Zhaolu's eyes flashed with a nasty smile.

Lin Fengya saw Song Zhaolu laughing, and the smile on her face instantly faded a bit.

They had competed decades ago.

Although she didn't get anything out of the property dispute, she was not easy to deal with.

For so many years, she had not set foot in Beicheng. It was suspicious that she suddenly came.

She mentioned a happy event that Lin Fengya did not know now.

What was the happy event?

Song Zhaolu saw Lin Fengya's expression changing.

"You still don't know, do you?"

"Sister," Song Zhaoyang's voice suddenly came from behind Lin Fengya.

Hearing Song Zhaoyang speaking, Song Zhaolu's sister-expression instantly turned, as she missed them all the time.

"Song Zhaoyang, after so many years, we finally meet again."

Song Zhaolu acted as if they had had deep feelings for each other.

Song Zhaoyang knew that she must have come over for a purpose.

But he also pretended to miss them.

He walked down the stairs and hugged her.

Song Zhaolu even managed to squeeze out tears from her eyes.

Song Zhaoyang immediately asked Song Zhaolu to have seat.

Song Zhaolu took the opportunity to introduce her son to Song Zhaoyang. "Yi. This is your uncle that you have been looking forward to meeting."

Song Yi had never been to the Song family in Beicheng since he was a child.

Although he had been in the entertainment industry in Beicheng, he had never dealt with Song Zhaoyang.

And yet, Song Zhaolu said that Song Yi seemed to miss his uncle very much.

They were both in Beicheng but had never contacted each other.

She pretended to be they were close.

Lin Fengya thought it was funny.

She held her hand on the railing, snickered, then turned her head and slowly went downstairs.

When Song Yi saw Lin Fengya walking over, he addressed her politely, "Auntie."

Lin Fengya nodded and smiled at him, but her attitude was cold.

When Song Zhaolu saw Lin Fengya's attitude, she smiled and didn't express any dissatisfaction.

Anyway, her purpose of the visit wasn't to make Lin Fengya pleasant to them.

On the contrary, she was hoping Lin Fengya show defiant arrogance.

She wanted to know whether Lin Fengya could maintain her pride when the truth was made public.

She wanted to see the broken, shocked look on that beautiful yet seemingly commanding face.

Song Zhaolu found it interesting.

When Gu Baisheng got off the plane and just left the airport with Song Shuang, she met Qu Xiaobo who came to pick her up.

She said they were going back to Beicheng this morning before going to bed last night.

Qu Xiaobo was waiting for her at the airport.

After picking them up, Qu Xiaobo yawned with tears in her eyes.

Seeing she was drowsy, Gu Baisheng asked, "When did you sleep last night?"

"After 3 a.m., I think."

"Three o'clock?"

Gu Baisheng frowned, "Why were you up so late?"

"I didn't even stay up all night." Qu Xiaobo said while driving, "I used to stay up all night every New Year's Eve. But since Zhang Kai is not here, I did not stay up all night."

Speaking of Zhang Kai's absence, Qu Xiaobo glanced at Gu Baisheng sitting next to her "Zhang Kai was busy last night. I called him, but he hung up in a hurry. He seems to have other people talking around him, can't hear clearly, but it was messy."

Because Zhang Kai was still on a business trip on New Year's Eve, Gu Baisheng guessed, "Could it be a case?"

"Do people in Gui Town like to make trouble so much? Don't they ever rest on New Year's Eve?"

"Whether it's on a holiday or not, there will be civil disputes."

Gu Baisheng replied helplessly.

Qu Xiaobo looked at the road in front of her.

It was a red light, so she stopped and waited for it to turn green. She said, "Actually, I don't like Zhang Kai's job very much."

"Do you want him to change his job?"

Gu Baisheng asked Qu Xiaobo.

Qu Xiaobo considered. "Honestly, I think being a police officer is dangerous."

"There are dangers in any profession."

Gu Baisheng said.

As she said, Qu Xiaobo remembered the Hancheng earthquake. She nodded and sighed, "You're right. There are dangers in any profession."

She thought to be a surgeon meant working in the hospital operating room or surgical outpatient.

However, who would have known that Gu Baisheng lost her life in the Hancheng earthquake?

Qu Xiaobo saw the light turn green, and the cars in front started one by one. She also followed to speed up and said slowly. "Drivers may suffer car accidents. Doctors are likely to encounter patient troubles. Teachers may be complained about by the parents of students. Police officers may be hurt by thugs."

"But most people are fine," Gu Baisheng advised her, "You don't want to think too much."

Qu Xiaobo nodded, "Yes."

Gu Baisheng comforted Qu Xiaobo all the way.

Qu Xiaobo drove them to the Song family's old residence.

Before leaving, Gu Baisheng asked Qu Xiaobo to pass on the message, "Tell me... Auntie Hu, I'll go over to see her this afternoon."

Gu Baisheng still didn't get used to it. She almost addressed Auntie Hu as "mom". If she hadn't been quick enough, she would have been exposed.

She looked at Song Shuang next to her restlessly.

Song Shuang acted as if he hadn't heard anything.

He said, "Let's go home."

Gu Baisheng watched Qu Xiaobo drive away.

She waved her hand and turned around to walk into the Song family's old mansion with Song Shuang.

Inside the Song family's old mansion, Song Zhaolu had just said a few words to her brother, Song Zhaoyang.

Lin Fengya sat next to Song Zhaoyang.

The surface of the sofa was slightly pressed. Song Zhaoyang smelled the faint fragrance of his wife.

He turned to look at his wife.

Lin Fengya smiled and said, "Song Zhaolu didn't say she was coming home for New Year's Eve before either, then she suddenly came. We didn't have the chance to prepare properly."

Lin Fengya's tone was easygoing.

But what she meant was that Song Zhaolu was an uninvited guest.

The Song family had no intention of letting her--an outsider--come back for New Year's Eve. Then she came back without an invite.

Song Zhaoyang understood his wife. He smiled slightly and said gently, "After all, Song Zhaolu is one of Beicheng's and misses her hometown."

"Why didn't Zhaolu inform us in advance? We weren't even able to prepare in advance to welcome you."

Lin Fengya asked Song Zhaolu.

Song Zhaolu raised her hand and gently stroked her sideburns. She glanced at her son next to her. "I didn't plan to come back this year. However, Song Zhaoyang's father passed away last year. I've been healing for a whole year and am finally feeling better. My husband passed away, so I was lonely living alone in Switzerland. I decided to go back to Beicheng early because Yi will work there for a long time."

Song Zhaoyang also knew the news of his brother-in-law's death.

Their mother was in a nursing home in Swetzerland and had never returned to Beicheng for many years.

When Song Zhaoyang and Song Zhaolu almost turned against each other because of their father's inheritance, the old lady did not go back as if she had been broken-hearted against Beicheng.

His mother did not seem to live with his sister.

No wonder his sister lived alone and felt lonely.

"Then where do you want to stay?"

Song Zhaoyang asked Song Zhaolu.

Song Zhaolu smiled when she heard this question.

She looked at Lin Fengya thoughtfully. "I do not want to trouble you, although the villa in Que Hua hills is in disrepair."

Song Zhaolu replied cunningly.

The first half of it said she did not want to trouble Song Zhaoyang.

However, the rest of her words told him that her house was in disrepair and they couldn't stay there.

Lin Fengya noticed the trap in Song Zhaolu's words and understood that she wanted to lure Song Zhaoyang to let them live in the old mansion.

She said ahead Song Zhaoyang. "Zhaolu, since the house is in disrepair, you can live in a hotel first. I recently acquired a hotel chain with environmentally friendly and non-polluting decoration. You guys can go live there."

Since Lin Fengya spoke before Song Zhaoyang made the decision, Song Zhaolu said, "Lin Fengya, you are Song Zhaoyang's wife. I have no problem with your arrangement. However..."

She looked at Song Zhaoyang with a smile. "If I stayed in the hotel, would others say that Zhaoyang still holds a grudge for what happened back then and won't even let me step into our old mansion?"

Lin Fengya frowned.

All the rich families paid the most attention to their family reputation.

Even if they were fighting behind the scenes, they still had to pretend to get along in public.

If they didn't do this, it might cause trouble.

People would make up a lot of gossip and rumors based on this.

Song Zhaoyang heard it and looked at Lin Fengya.

He wanted to let Lin Fengya make the decision.

It was obvious.

What Song Zhaolu said was making Song Zhaoyang a little worried.

Song Zhaoyang was concerned about reputation.

He didn't like being gossiped about by others at all.

Song Zhaolu's words worked.

Lin Fengya knew that even if she was deciding for her husband, she couldn't let him feel humiliated.

She thought quickly, then said: "The old mansion was decorated before Chinese New Year, only one guest room left. Otherwise, I wouldn't have let you and Yi stay at the hotel."

She could let both mother and son stay in Beicheng.

But only one of them could live in the old mansion with them.

If these two were allowed to live in the Song family altogether, no one knew what kind of chaos would occur?

Her sister-in-law was difficult to deal with.

How could a thoughtful mother raise a simple son?

Therefore, they must not stay together in the Song family's old mansion.
