Without any intention of teasing He Xiaoyu, Li Mu spoke sincerely and heart-warmingly. Speechless, He Xiaoyu took a bite of her apple. Who knew if she would take his advice seriously?

“Alright, if I listen to you, will you come back to work?”

“I will if you listen to me, but ...”

“No buts. It’s a deal!” He Xiaoyu reached out her pinky finger. “Pinky swears. Whoever breaks the promise is a brat!”

Li Mu hesitated for a while, but eventually, he smiled and promised her.

“Although I made a promise to you, you’ll have to give me some time. My wife already knows about my resignation. I will have to get her permission before I go back to work.”

“No excuse. What else do you want to do if you’re not going to work? Lying around and doing nothing? She can’t even afford to pay her car loans with that pitiful salary of hers!” He Xiaoyu said disdainfully.

“She already resigned too,” Li Mu replied.

Stunned for a moment, He Xiaoyu smirked and said, “Then why are you hesitating? Both of you are already jobless. Are you waiting to rot at home? Shouldn’t you be in a hurry to search for a job? Why are you still wasting your time?”

“Just give me some time, will you?”

“Alright, but don’t try to fool me, or I swear we will be involved in an open relationship. I’ll be the wife. She’ll be the mistress. You’ll be the third man.”

“Again, with the nonsense! Who will be your husband if I’m the third man?”

“It will be you too of course!”

“Shut up. Are you done eating? Hurry up and get lost. I have to pick up Lin Wan.”

On the other hand, in Private Room 209, Lin Wan sniffedbefore carrying her purse and walking away gracefully, leaving two unconscious young men lying on the ground.

Flashback to a few moments ago, these two young waiters entered the room and started causing chaos for no reason.

Lin Wan knew that they were looking for trouble. It seemed like she was right. This dinner was indeed a set-up, and Wu Heping might be the one behind all this.

After understanding the whole situation, she stayed calm instead.

Lin Wan sat down comfortably in her own chair, waiting for them to be done. Then, she smiled and said, “So, tell me. What do you guys want? What can I do in order for you to let me go?”

“Like what our manager has said, this is a breach of contract. We have prepared all the cooking ingredients. If you withdraw at this time, we will suffer a great loss. You can still choose to leave, but you must first compensate us for our losses!” Liu yelled.

Smiling faintly, Lin Wan then uttered calmly, “Sure. Name your price.”

“Twenty thousand!” The newbie waiter yelled.

Liu grabbed his sleeve and yelled, “Twenty thousand is only for the ingredients. There is also a fine as well, so it’s one hundred thousand in total. We’ll let you leave once you pay up!”

Having to pay without eating or drinking a mouthful of anything at the restaurant was beyond ridiculous. The youngsters thought that anybody with a right mind would never agree to these terms, so Lin Wan would definitely objec4t and argue with them.

As long as the argument started, everything would fall into place and the show could go on.

However, unexpectedly, Lin Wan smiled, took out a card from her purse, and said, “Sure, I’ll pay. Here you go. I’ll give you one hundred thousand bucks.”

Damn it! This lady was cunning. The two youngsters were dumbfounded. Letting out a dry cough, Liu retorted, “No! You can’t just pay. You will have to apologize to us!”

Anxiously, the other youngster said, “Yes, yes, apologize! You will have to apologize!”

“Alright, how do you guys want me to apologize?”

“Since you are a lady, we don’t want to trouble you too much as well. We would like to ask you to drink as a punishment, but since there is no wine right now, you can use tea as a replacement. What do you think? Fair enough?”

Feeling triumphant with their own act, the men got excited seeing Lin Wan picking up the teapot. Liu thought things would be easier if they could force her to drink the tea.

Surprisingly, Lin Wan tilted her hand and poured the pot of tea on the table, spilling the tea and wetting the tablecloth right in front of them.

Glancing at each other, the two youngsters rushed towards Lin Wan. They initially thought that they could take down Lin Wan easily, and things would go according to their way.

If they were lucky enough, their boss might recognize their effort and let them join the fun. With that thought in mind, they felt motivated.

But never once did they think that Lin Wan, who they deemed weak, could defeat them just like that.

Before they knew it, Lin Wan had them knocked down.

Although they could no longer move their bodies, they were still conscious. They could only feel pain all over their body.

It felt as if there had been countless needles piercing through their bones. Their clothes were soaked in cold sweat as they were experiencing excruciating pain, but none of them could cry out loud.

Standing up, Lin Wan walked towards Liu, gave him a kick, and said, “Answer my question now! You’ll be dead if I find out that you’re lying!”

Liu shrieked in pain. He was well aware that he was no match for her. Quickly, he climbed up and went down on his knees, “Forgive me, Miss. I’m being forced to do this. I beg you. Please let me go!”

“It’s Wu Heping, right?”

“Yes!”

“Who else is behind this?”

“Our ... our boss.”

“Don’t stutter. Speak clearly! Do you want to have a taste of more?”

Frightened, Liu shivered. He then quickly told her everything he knew.

Lin Wan gave him another kick, and he fell to the ground. Feeling the pain tearing through his body, he could not move an inch.

With light and graceful footsteps, Lin Wan left the private room. Taking a glance at Room 227, she snorted, left the restaurant, and headed towards the parking lot.

As she walked, she put on her earphones, turned on her wrist phone, and whispered to someone.

Then, she fished out her phone and called Li Mu. Cutely, she said, “Honey, the party’s over. Come pick me up!”

“What?” Li Mu’s surprised voice came from the other side of the phone, “That fast? What kind of party is it?”

Giggling, Lin Wan answered, “Come on! I’m no longer their colleague. I don’t feel like hanging around with them. I don’t want to spoil the mood, so I left after taking a few drinks.”

“You drank?”

At the mention of that, Lin Wan smiled even happily, “I drank a whole liter of tea instead of alcohol. Come pick me up quickly. I’m hungry. I’m craving for some western food!”

“Alright. I’ll be right there!”

After hanging up, Lin Wan felt her mood lighten up. All she could think of was to have some nice food with Li Mu.

“Lin Dantong, is that you?” Suddenly, a man’s voice rang out behind her.

At once, Lin Wan froze on the spot. Without looking back, she fled.

There were a lot of taxis in the parking lot. Jumping into one of the taxis, Lin Wan mumbled something, and the taxi driver sped away instantly.

A man was chasing her from behind while shouting, “Lin Dantong, don’t run away! Wait for me!”

Seeing Lin Wan’s taxi disappearing into a corner, the man grew anxious. Wasting no more time, he leaped into another taxi and said to the taxi driver, “Did you see the taxi earlier? I’ll pay you a thousand bucks. Chase after that taxi!”

“Alright!” Without hesitation, the driver stepped on the accelerator, and the taxi shot out.

A chase began as the two taxis sprinted down the road. It was only until they arrived at a block-up junction that Lin Wan’s taxi finally stopped.

Right away, the man jumped out of his taxi and ran up to Lin Wan’s taxi. Violently, he pulled open the back door, only to realize that there were no passengers in the taxi.

Dissatisfied, the taxi driver said, “Sir, you can’t get on here. There are security cameras everywhere. We’re going to get fined!”

Ignoring the driver’s words, the man opened the driver’s car door. Strangling the driver, he asked, “Where is Lin Dantong?”

“Who are you talking about?”

“Lin Dantong!”

“I don’t know anybody named Lin Dantong! Let me go!”

After some time, the man calmed down and released his grip. “I’m sorry to offend you, sir. Do you know where the lady that got on your car just now is?”.

“Oh, that lady! She got down at the intersection just now. You can try looking for her there.”.

Hearing that, the man facepalmed himself. Right then, his taxi driver chased after him, “Sir! My money! You haven’t paid for your taxi fare!”

In Room 209, both Mr. Nan and Wu Heping stood frozen, looking terrified and confused.

Both the waiters were lying on the ground, tensed up and staring at them. They were breaking into cold sweat.

Mr. Nan kept asking them what had happened, but both of them could only stare at him blankly. None of them could answer any of his questions.

Wu Heping, who was already freaking out, kept blabbering on.

“Brother Wu, Lin Wan is not that easy to handle. We might be in trouble right now. Why don’t you deal with your colleagues while I’ll handle my boys? But remember to stay calm no matter what will happen. Do not do anything that might expose yourself.”.

“What happened to the two guys? Are they dead?”

“They are not dead. We have no idea what happened. It must be that lady. We’ll know once we find her.”

“Why not call the cops?”

Mr. Nan looked at him as if he had been out of his mind. Called the cops? Was he nuts? What were they supposed to tell the cops when they arrived?

“Brother Wu, we can only solve this issue by ourselves. We can never call the cops. We will be in trouble if the cops are involved. Don’t worry. I’ll be here. Now hurry up and leave!”

Wu Heping agreed and left the room in a rush.

Right when Mr. Nan wanted to call his subordinates, his phone rang. Taking a look at the screen, he picked up the phone quickly and greeted the person on the other side of the phone respectfully, “Mr. Gou, are you looking for me?”

“You bastard! You’re in big trouble!” Mr. Gou, the usually venerable man, started shouting from the other side of the phone.

Hearing Mr. Gou’s voice, Mr. Nan broke into a cold sweat immediately. He had never seen Mr. Gou so angry before. Right away, he knew it was related to Lin Wan.

“Mr. Gou, did I do anything wrong? Please tell me.”

“How dare you offend Ms. Lin. Do you have a death wish?”

“Ms. Lin? Which Ms. Lin?” Mr. Nan was confused. Nervous, he started stuttering.
