They were just putting on an act, and it was time to bring the show to an end. Han acted pretentiously and ordered Su, “Wang, register them and settle the Traffic Accident Determination Letter!”

He proceeded to tell Zhou Zijian and the driver, “If there are no objections by the two of you, sign this as a form of acknowledgment, and we’ll proceed with a fast claim settlement!”

The BMW driver was very satisfied with this decision, and patted Zhou Zijian’s shoulder with a hint of sympathy, “Buddy, don’t be upset over this. It is your responsibility indeed. Fortunately, you weren’t driving under the influence of alcohol, otherwise, you’d be in huge trouble.”

Discouraged, Zhou Zijian responded, “Alright, I’ll take full responsibility for this accident. I’m sorry, buddy!”

“Don’t worry about it. It’s not uncommon to have some minor accidents when we’re out and about. How much is your Third-Party Liability Insurance?”

“A hundred million, would that suffice?”

“Definitely, it doesn’t cost much to repair a car. Don’t worry. You won’t need to fork out your own money.”

The two drivers then proceeded to smoke and talked to each other about family matters.

Lin Wan let out a sigh of relief. It was already getting late, and hailing a cab would be hard considering she was in the middle of nowhere. Her husband would definitely be anxious if there was any further delay.

When she got off the car just now, she contemplated whether she should ask her husband to come and pick her up. It was just that it seemed a little inappropriate for her to just walk away when the car accident occurred while she was given a lift.

Seeing that the accident scene was handled quite smoothly, she decided not to contact her husband for the time being and to take Wang Shen’s car home.

“Alright then, evacuate the scene immediately, resume the traffic, and pull over to the side of the road once you’re out of the tunnel!”

The two cars left the scene one after the other and drove out of the tunnel under the guidance of a police car, stopping in front of a hotel on the roadside.

“Everyone in the car, follow me!” Han shouted to Lin Wan and the others.

“Officer, why are we going to a hotel?” The puzzled BMW driver asked.

“The reception around here is still pretty weak. Let’s use the hotel’s Wi-Fi signal.”

The crowd had no doubts and followed the two fake policemen into the hotel. Wang Shen walked beside Lin Wan. Zhou Zijian deliberately slowed down just to stay at the tail of the crowd and successfully captured the whole scene of them both entering the hotel together.

The two fake policemen spent around forty minutes or so inside the hotel. When they were finally done with the registration process, Zhou Zijian took the lead when the crowd left the hotel. He was able to perfectly capture down the scene of Wang Shen and Lin Wan leaving the hotel together.

Once the vehicle was back on the road, Lin Wan’s phone rang.

Lin Wan felt a little frustrated. She still hadn’t returned home before her husband got suspicious. Had she known that this would happen, she might as well have insisted on taking a taxi in the first place.

After picking up the phone, Lin Wan spoke before her husband could. “Honey, there was an accident just now and it took me some time. I’m on my way home and will be arriving soon.”

“Are you alright?”

“I’m fine, I’m fine. I was in my colleague’s car, and his car was scratched when he dropped me off. We’re all fine. Don’t worry. I’ll be back in a while.”

“Where’s your car?”

“My car broke down due to a punctured tire. I left it in the hotel car park.”

“Alright. Come back early. I’ll wait for you downstairs!”

Wang Shen got out of the car hurriedly with the intention of sending her off, but Lin Wan stood still and rejected him politely, “Mr. Wang, my husband is here to pick me up. I don’t want to spark any misunderstandings, so it would be great for you to just send me off here!”

“Ah! Alright, I won’t see you off then. Take care, Miss. Lin!”

Lin Wan responded briefly and walked towards her neighborhood. Wang Shen stood still and only drove away when Lin Wan was out of sight.

When she almost reached the entrance of her neighborhood, a man sprang out behind Lin Wan all of a sudden and shouted in a displeased tone, “Stop right there!”

On the defensive, Lin Wan turned around smoothly. Upon turning around, she found her husband standing behind her with a sullen face.

“Honey, you scared me!” Lin Wan pouted.

“Who was that man?” Li Mu asked with a sullen face.

“Wang Shen. He’s the new vice-principal. My car broke down and he insisted on giving me a ride back. He was so enthusiastic about it, so I didn’t have the heart to reject him. Honey, please don’t think too much about it.”

“So he’s the handsome young vice-principal you were talking about. I wonder why all the vice-principals in your school tend to cling to you. Can’t you figure out why by now?”

Lin Wan didn’t like what she heard. She turned around angrily and left. With Li Mu behind her, the two of them returned home without a word.

When they entered the house, Lin Wan said angrily, “Since when have you became like this? Don’t you trust me at all? Do you think of me as an easy girl who loves to seduce men?”

“I’m not saying you’re an easy girl, I’m just trying to remind you. You’re very pretty, so men are easily attracted to you. I’m a man myself, so I know men well. “If your car tire was punctured, can’t you call a cab?”

Lin Wan was speechless. This was what frustrated her the most. She should’ve insisted on taking a taxi. If she did, she wouldn’t have got herself into all this trouble.

Deep down, she knew the reason very well. To be frank, she felt bad to refuse Wang Shen’s act of kindness again after refusing him multiple times. She didn’t want him to feel embarrassed.

This included how she answered the resignation questions in a perfunctory manner. It was also a well-intentioned lie in consideration of how other people would feel.

After saying that, she blew a breath of air towards her husband.

At the private detective agency, a few of them were busy sorting out the pictures they took today. The first thing they sorted out were the photos that Han had taken without anyone noticing. Upon inspecting them one by one, Zhou Zijian shook his head in disappointment.

“These photos are useless. All of them are useless. It was just an ordinary party, and their actions showed nothing over the top. Lin Wan did not act inappropriately at all. You can delete all of these.”

“Which ones?”

Su pointed to one of the photos and said, “This one. Look, they both drank together right after clinking their glasses. I think this photo could come in handy.”

“What are you implying? Clarify yourself!” Zhou Zijian asked.

“Mr. Zhou, don’t we have image processing experts in our company? Let’s have them alter this photo. Look at the height and angle of their arms, if you edit it a little, it’ll look like they’re drinking a “cross-cupped wine” from one another’s glasses!”

Zhou Zijian stared at the photo carefully, and gave Su a strong pat on the shoulder, “Call Brother Wu and the others over, and tell them they have a big task to complete tonight. Ask them to edit this photo and the photos I took of the hotel room. I want the photos to be done by tomorrow morning.”
