Chapter 67 Wang Shen’s Reluctance to Give Up

The next morning, Zhou Zijian and the others were woken up by Brother Wu, who placed a stack of photos in front of them and said with a pair of red eyes, “Take a look at this. Is this alright?”

Zhou Zijian rubbed his eyes and picked up the photos. The first one was a scene of the two of them toasting each other, which was a total of three photos. The set of photos were all correlated, which reflected the process of the both of them drinking a “cross-cupped wine” when they were linked together.

The handsome man and the beautiful woman looked like a match made in heaven in the photo. This left one to wonder how Li Mu would react when he saw these photos.

Moving on to the other photos, Zhou Zijian saw that the other photos were pictures of them at the car park. Lin Wan was getting into the car, and they were entering the hotel together and leaving the hotel together forty minutes later. With pictures like this, one could not help but suspect that something fishy was going on between them.

All irrelevant people had been edited out of the photos. This could be seen especially when they were leaving the hotel. Brother Wu rotated the characters at an angle so that Wang Shen appeared to be holding Lin Wan. This action resembled the attentiveness and affection of a man towards his partner after a fiery night.

The crowd exclaimed praises and complimented Brother Wu and the others. When his boss came, Zhou Zijian handed over the photos to him immediately.

The boss enquired in detail about what had happened and complimented them.

Zhou Zijian took the opportunity to ask, “Boss, should we contact He Xiaoyu right away?”

The boss pondered for a moment and said unhurriedly, “Wang Shen is a clever guy. He knows his chances very well and plays a good game of lust. I believe he’ll still pounce at chances to contact Lin Wan. Be patient, and follow them for a few more days. If there is nothing new in a week, you can submit this evidence. But if there are any new updates, submit it altogether to He Xiaoyu at one go, so she has better evidence to back her up!”

“Understood, boss. I know what to do!” Zhou Zijian responded cheerfully.

In the car park, Li Mu’s face was distorted with rage. Lin Wan was astonished, as her car tire was surprisingly fine and had sufficient tire pressure. There were no signs of it being punctured at all.

Li Mu didn’t say anything, yet Lin Wan was already at a loss for words. What was going on? The tire was obviously punctured before this. How could it be repaired by itself?

“Honey, I’m not sure what happened, but the tire was clearly punctured by someone else last night. Wang Shen can testify for me!”

“You’re finding him to prove your words? Don’t you think it’s ridiculous?” Li Mu taunted.

“Honey, don’t be like that. I’m not lying. Let’s go check the surveillance. The surveillance camera can prove my words.”

Li Mu shook his head, pulled the car door open, and told his wife, “I have no interest in knowing what has happened before this. All I want for you now is to keep your promise, avoid contact with that man Wang Shen, and resign as soon as possible. Please behave yourself!”

“Honey, I’m not lying to you. I have nothing to do with Wang Shen. You must believe me. Let’s go and check the surveillance camera now. I want to prove that I’m not lying.”

Li Mu shut the car door, “Okay, I’ll accompany you to check the surveillance!”

They arrived at the front desk of the Renaissance Hotel and explained their intentions. The staff responded politely, “Sir and Miss, I’m really sorry. Because the car park is free of charge, the facilities inside have not been serviced for a very long time now. The surveillance camera has been damaged since a very long time ago, so I couldn’t provide you the help you need!”

Whether or not it was the truth, it was impossible for them to check the surveillance camera now. Lin Wan left the hotel disappointed and regretted her decisions.

Call a cab! If only she had insisted on calling a cab, nothing like this would’ve happened. Just because of that teeny moment of weakness, she was given a day of trouble. And now having everything pointed against her, she was defenseless.

In this case, lying wasn’t the major issue. The point is that this lie of hers could cause one to make unnecessary associations, which would make her husband feel suspicious.

At this point, Lin Wan was a little uncertain whether it was a lapse in her judgment, or whether someone else was playing a trick on her.

“Honey, do you think I’m a flirt?”

“No, I know you’re not. But I don’t like how you’re constantly surprising me like this. Do you understand what I’m saying?”

“I didn’t mean to surprise you like this either. I have no clue what’s going on as well. How about going to an auto repair shop and check what’s going on with the tire?”

“There’s no need for that. I trust you. Maybe someone is playing a trick on you in the dark. Let’s not dwell on this matter anymore! But let me remind you, you’d better stay away from Wang Shen. I think he’s trying to get close to you on purpose. I can’t guess his motives or intentions at the moment, but you’d better be careful.”

“Alright, I’ll listen to you.”

Lin Wan stopped going to school again and didn’t show up for three days in a row.

Her fickleness made Wang Shen feel helpless.

It was all back to square one. All he wanted was to strengthen the bond between them, yet he got stood up.

However, unlike before, Lin Wan’s attitude now was very firm. She did not show the slightest bit of mercy and had no intention to take things back to how it was before.

Wang Shen had used all the methods he could think of, which were all to no avail.

When he tried to invite her back to coach the choir, Lin Wan would politely advise him to let the students continue practicing on their current songs and that she didn’t need to coach anything else.

When he invited her to go to a party with him, Lin Wan would simply decline his invitation, making it clear that she was not interested in partying and did not want to waste time doing so.

When he asked her out, Lin Wan would politely tell him that if there was something, he could talk about it over the phone. She didn’t see the need for the two of them to meet.

When he asked her to return to the school to go through her resignation procedures, Lin Wan couldn’t care less and said that the school would take care of it. She didn’t really care about the procedures and from now on, she had already resigned.

With her being so geared up, he had no chance at all. In her eyes, she couldn’t care less about what his intentions were. The only thing she should and would do was to stay a distance with him. This would be the best for both parties.

Wang Shen struggled to think of a way to deal with this situation, but there was nothing he could do. All of a sudden, he could put himself in Wu Heping’s shoes. What he yearned for was right in front of him, yet he couldn’t afford to own it. And after countless tortures and temptations, he decided to take the risky route.

Of course, Wang Shen would never do that, nor would he dare to do that. Wu Heping was ignorant and fearless, but Wang Shen knew of Lin Wan’s background very well. He did not want to become the second vice-principal that ceased to exist just because of his lustfulness.

He just wanted to reach out to Lin Wan and make friends with her by virtue of his poise and talent. And if he could elevate their relationship to that of lovers, that would be the best outcome.

Even if he didn’t get what he wanted, at the very least he wanted to be someone Lin Wan could trust. His ultimate goal was the estate anyways.

If Lin Wan’s beauty was likened to a fish, the estate could be likened to a bear’s paw.

The most desired outcome for Wang Shen was to get both the fish and the bear’s paw. However, if things didn’t work his way, he was willing to give up the fish for the bear’s paw, choosing the latter of the two.

Why not give up the bear’s paw and get the fish, you might ask. Alas! If you could get the fish, you would get the bear’s paw as well. Don’t forget. In this story, the bear’s paw belongs to the fish.

He still had to find a way to get closer with Lin Wan. If they weren’t close, how could they be friends? And without being friends, all his goals were nothing more than just empty talk.

This was what Mr. Gou disliked about him. He made a complicated mess of what could be a simple matter.

If it was Mr. Gou, the old man would have gone straight to Lin Wan and talked about the deal openly. Even if it didn’t work out, at least he took the effort to let the other party know how sincere he was. He would definitely not even bother to use these crooked methods at all.

Alas, Wang Shen was not Mr. Gou and didn’t have the courage and wisdom to do so. He would only stick to his own way of thinking and continue to think of ways to plot against Lin Wan.

Maybe youth played a part in his intelligence, he really did come up with a way.

After some arrangements, Wang Shen contacted Mr. Yan and started a new round of plotting.

“Mr. Yan, with the help of Miss Lin Wan, the choir’s preparations are going well. I sent the rehearsal video to the judges’ teachers through my personal connections and asked them to evaluate their performance. According to their feedback, our choir’s performance was of a very high standard and would definitely be able to place in the top three. In fact, they might even take the title!”

Mr. Yan was delighted. Although he didn’t like to mind his own business, it didn’t imply that he would ignore good things when they came his way.

If the choir won the city championship, not only would it bring fame to them in the city, but it would also bring glory to the district. Consequently, the school building’s renovation project next year would definitely receive strong support from the district’s finance department. These are all beneficial to him!

Mr. Yan who had not been paying much attention to the choir matters decided immediately to personally take charge and actively engage in the preparations for the finals.

“Terrific! Thank you for all your hard work. If you have any requests, feel free to come to me. I’ll make sure I do a good job of supporting everyone logistically.”

“Thank you for your support, Mr. Yan. However, there is something that I would like to ask for your advice.”

“There’s no need to be so polite. Go on. What is it that’s bothering you?”

“According to the judges’ feedback, our school uniform is too old-fashioned and doesn’t quite match the singing style of our choir, so it’s kind of a pity!”

“Oh, what suggestions do you have then? Let me know!”

“I would like to have a costume custom-made for the choir. What do you think, Mr. Yan?”

“No problem!” Mr. Yan agreed without hesitation. It was no big deal at all, as there were only a few students in the choir. It wouldn’t cost much to get them a custom-made costume.

“All costs will be sponsored by school funds. I’ll give you the authority to handle this matter personally!”

His first step was a success! His proposal had indeed been supported by Mr. Yan. Wang Shen was pleased. His next step was to pursue his plan.

“Mr. Yan, I have contacted a clothing factory and asked them to make a few sets of samples. They will send the clothes to the school when the clothes are ready. By then, would it be alright if I ask for your and Miss Lin’s opinion on the clothes?”

Mr. Yan hesitated. He had been in an official position for a long time, so he took many more things into account and consideration. He was definitely supportive of this matter, but taking the clothes to the school and exposing them in the public’s eyes seemed a bit problematic.

After pondering for a while, Mr. Yan said to Wang Shen, “Wang, I’m pretty old now, and my taste would definitely not be on par with the current generation, so it’ll be better to leave me out of this.”

“On top of that, don’t bring the clothes to the school. After all, there are many people here. It wouldn’t be a good decision to let everyone else know about this issue. Keep it low-key, and do not publicize it. Maybe you could find a place outside and take a look at the clothes together with Ms. Lin. That would suffice.”

This was something Wang Shen had not anticipated. Mr. Yan’s proposal was amazing! His intention was only to invite Lin Wan to the school, so he could stall her by using the costumes as an excuse.

Unexpectedly, Mr. Yan’s considerations as a leader would lead him to settle this issue out of school. This offer was simply too good to be true, and for him, it was the best thing that could have happened.
