Without any scruples, Li Mu left the office with He Xiaoyu’s car. Now that his marriage felt like a joke, he no longer cared about anything.

He was unsure what exactly he was feeling right now. Anger, sorrow, shame, and bitterness washed over him all at once, ripping his heart into a million pieces.

Upon arriving home, he stood in front of the door for about half an hour, not daring to push open the door. Finally, he took a deep breath and entered the door before slamming the door shut.

Hearing the noises outside, Lin Wan came out of the house. As soon as she saw Li Mu, she flashed him a smile, “Why are you back so early today? Did you come back earlier to accompany me?”

Li Mu ignored her question, changed into his slippers, and went straight to the sofa with the envelope in his hands.

“Are you going out today?”

In fact, Lin Wan was getting ready to go to the Renaissance Hotel. The garment factory came up with a few samples based on her request, so she made an appointment with Wang Shen to check out the outfits again.

Noticing Li Mu’s strange expression, she did not dare to tell him the truth. Hesitating, she asked, “No. What’s wrong? Do you feel unwell?”

Li Mu signaled her to sit down. After keeping silent for a moment, he spoke, “Since we’re husband and wife, I have a request. Can you do me a favor?”

Beaming, Lin Wan answered, “What’s the matter? Why are you talking to me in that tone? Go ahead, and tell me what you need me to do. Of course, I’ll help you out.”

“Can you treat me with more respect and not treat me as a fool? I’m not your puppet. If you want to leave, just leave. You don’t have to lie to me!”

Stunned, Lin Wan stared blankly at Li Mu. A few moments later, she snapped back to her senses, moved closer to Li Mu, and hugged his arm.

“What’s wrong with you? We’ve been doing pretty well. I’ve never thought of leaving you. Why would you say such a thing?”

Li Mu pulled himself away from her and threw the envelope on the coffee table, “See for yourself!”

Lin Wan was feeling very uneasy. She did not know what was inside the envelope, but her intuition told her that it was nothing good.

After hesitating for a moment, she opened the envelope and poured the contents onto the coffee table. Instantly, pictures fell out of the envelope. As soon as she laid eyes on a few of the picture, she felt her head spinning.

It had been long since she was faced with such a crisis. Right away, she knew that someone was scheming against her, wanting to end her marriage.

Lin Wan forced herself to calm down. The more she tried to explain now, the more Li Mu would think that she was guilty. She had to stay calm and composed in handling this matter.

Studying the pictures, she did not cry, neither did she make a fuss or panic.

It was as though she had been looking at other people’s picture.

After looking through all the pictures, Lin Wan threw them on the coffee table and casually picked up the USB before tossing it onto the table, too.

“Honey, do you actually believe them?”

“Give me a reason why not to believe them.”

A trace of sadness flashed across her eyes immediately. She wanted Li Mu to have trust in her. If Li Mu could trust her unconditionally, she would have broken out in tears of joy.

“There’s no reason. It seems like I can’t refuse it at all. I don’t want to waste my time going around collecting pieces of evidences to prove my innocence because I know those people who want to bring me down have already destroyed all remaining evidence. I don’t want to make things worse.”

“Are you admitting to cheating on me now?”

“Think whatever you want. If you insist on saying that I cheated on you, I’ll admit it then. So are you going to divorce me now?”

“I can’t stand my wife cheating on me behind my back. This is my limit. We’ll get a divorce then!”

Anguished, Lin Wan lowered her head. Feeling her heart tearing apart, she bit her lips and sat on the sofa without uttering a word, looking lonely and pitiful.

Li Mu could not bear to see her in that state. He felt an urge to pull her into his embrace, but he could not accept the fact that Lin Wan actually cheated on him. He could forgive her, but he could no longer stay together with her.

Turning away, he said in a low voice, “The house, car, and money are all yours. If you want to go back to work at the school, I won’t stop you. We don’t have kids, so the child maintenance fee is not a problem. If there’s nothing else, we’ll proceed to sign the papers in the afternoon.”

“Are you trying to be kind to me?” Lin Wan asked miserably.

Li Mu answered truthfully, “No. I earn more than you. After all, you were once my wife. I don’t want to see you suffer after we divorce.”

“I guess I’ll have to thank you then. How generous of you, huh? You claimed that I cheated and decided to leave me just like that. Oh, right. You still have He Xiaoyu. I bet she won’t mind having to provide for you.”

“Stop being ridiculous. You’re the one who’s at fault here. Do I have to apologize to you and beg for your forgiveness?”

“How dare you claim that I’m guilty just by looking at a few fabricated pictures? Don’t worry. I won’t get a divorce. Even if I agree to get a divorce, I don’t want to live the rest of my life having others calling me a cheater!”

“You don’t want to?” Li Mu continued, annoyed. “In that case, explain those pictures and videos to me.”

“Don’t you have any trust in me?” Lin Wan asked, staring at him.

“I told you to prove yourself innocent.” Li Mu stuck to his guns.

“I don’t have proof, but I have witnesses to prove my innocence. However, I believe they’re no longer around. Someone is framing me. Why would they leave such traces behind?”

“Someone is framing you? Speak clearly. Who is framing you?

“I don’t know. It’s not cheap to fabricate evidence. I have two people in mind now. They have the ability as well as the motive to frame me. One of them is He Xiaoyu, while the other one is Wang Shen.”

“Xiaoyu is not a person who would do such things.”

“Yes, although I hate her, I know she’s not that kind of person. She wants to take you away from me, but she won’t use such lowly method to do so.”

Hearing that, Li Mu kept quiet. Wang Shen wasn’t the one who passed him those photos. Instead, He Xiaoyu was the one who did it. If Lin Wan was really framed, He Xiaoyu could be either the culprit or an accomplice.

Why would someone want to frame Lin Wan though? What was the culprit’s purpose for framing Lin Wan? He Xiaoyu and Wang Shen could not possibly be the culprit. In that case, who was the real culprit?

What the h*ck was going on? Li Mu’s head was about to burst.

If Lin Wan admitted that she cheated on him, everything would make sense. However, on the contrary, Lin Wan insisted that she was framed.

Staring at Li Mu, Lin Wan said remorsefully, “I should’ve listened to you and avoided him. I was too naive. Wang Shen is the most suspicious. He appeared in my life all of a sudden and tried to approach me. I think he’s the one behind this.”

Plopping down onto the sofa, Li Mu kept silent.

Lin Wan’s gaze never left Li Mu. Tearfully, she uttered, “I never betrayed you and will never do so. These pieces of evidence are fabricated. Someone is trying to destroy our marriage!”

“Just cool down and think about it. We’re so in love with each other. How can I bear to cheat on you? You know I love you more than anything. Don’t you believe me?”

Letting out a sigh, Li Mu looked at Lin Wan, and they locked eyes with each other. None of them shied away or panicked.

After some time, Li Mu said softly, “I trust you!”

Right away, Lin Wan threw herself into Li Mu’s embrace and started bawling. Then, she began to throw punches at him, “B**tard, how dare you to think of getting a divorce with me?”

Li Mu waited for her to finish venting before picking her up.

“We have to figure this thing out. We need to find out who is the one who framed you and for what purpose did he do so. Although I believe in you, we can’t let this go just like that. You get what I mean?”

Hurriedly, Lin Wan nodded her head and agreed to Li Mu’s words, “Give me some time. I’ll look into this!”

“You want to look into this? Forget it, how are you going to start investigating? Leave it to me. You keep out of this.”

“No, I have to look into it. Honey, Mrs. Hong is back, and she’s doing business in Shanyang. I’ll go look for her now. She has a lot of connections, so I’m sure she can help us find out the truth.”

Stunned for a moment, Li Mu thought of someone else.

Quickly, Lin Wan said, “She’s here alone. The rest of them are not here.”

“Lin Wan, why did you call me using this number? Aren’t you afraid that Li Mu might find out?” Mrs. Hong teased her.

“Mrs. Hong, something happened. Someone tried to frame me and ruined my marriage. I need your help.” Lin Wan uttered anxiously.

“Don’t worry. I’ll be there right away!”

After hanging up, Lin Wan saw Li Mu studying the pictures again. Hastily, he took the photos away from him, “Honey, don’t look at them. They’re just part of the story, not the whole truth.”

However, Li Mu stopped her and explained, “It’s fine. I’m reanalyzing these photos from an outsider’s perspective. Don’t worry. I won’t let it affect my judgment.”

“You’re not allowed to ask for a divorce then!”

“Alright, I won’t ask for a divorce. I just want to find out the truth.”

Li Mu stared at the pictures and put some of the pictures where Lin Wan was seen to be drinking cross-cupped wine with another guy.

“Honey, I hope you can be honest with me. It’s fine if you made a mistake. As long as you realize your mistake and are willing to turn over a new leaf, it’s okay. Lying doesn’t make me love you more, it’ll only lead to more suspicions. If this goes on, our marriage will be completely ruined. I believe you know that, right?”

“Yes. I got it. Ask me anything. I’ll answer truthfully.”

“Did you drink cross-cupped wine with another guy?”

“No. I didn’t touch any alcohol that day. Before I left, I thanked him with a cup of tea. We just clung to glasses like normal without crossing cups. I have no idea where these pictures come from.”

“It’s simple. You can just get them by editing a few pictures together.”

“What about these pictures? Why are you guys at the hotel?”

“After the accident, the signal under the tunnel was bad. The police wanted us to register our names using the hotel’s signal, so me, the driver, and the polices were supposed to appear in the picture. I don’t understand why only Wang Shen and I are in the picture.”

“Okay. So it means these pictures are edited too. They took out other people in the pictures and hence it became the so-called evidence.”

With that, he picked up the last few pictures, “What about these? Are these fake as well?”

Frustrated, Lin Wan said, “These... These are real.”

“Both of you got a hotel room?” Coldly, Li Mu questioned her.

“No, no. Honey, listen to me!”

Lin Wan told Li Mu everything that had happened the other day. Then, Li Mu studied the pictures as well as the videos again.

Especially the video when they were about to walk into the room. Li Mu set the playback speed to the lowest, and it was then that he noticed something weird about the video.

When the two of them entered the room, Wang Shen pushed open the door before moving away and let Lin Wan enter.

After Lin Wan entered the room, it seemed like she was staring at someone and greeting someone while smiling.

Li Mu asked Lin Wan about that, and she exclaimed excitedly, “Yes! I saw Zhou Li! She waved at me, so I smiled back at her. Honey, she might be able to prove my innocence.”

“Can you call Zhou Li and ask her about this?”

Shaking her head, Lin Wan smiled bitterly, “It’s no use. She likes Wang Shen. If Wang Shen is the one framing me, she must have been bribed by him. There’s no point calling her. She won’t tell you the truth.”
