“I just couldn't understand. You have a husband and you claim to love me a lot. But why did you be someone else’s mother and that man’s nominal partner? You even went to the extent of lying to me to cover up this matter! And now you’re accusing me? Was what you did right?” Flustered, Li Mu yelled.

Many passers-by looked this way but walked away indifferently right after. Arguments and fights between couples like this happened near the Divorce Registrar so often to the point where it wasn’t surprising to see incidents like this anymore.

“I have always admitted that I was at fault and that I was foolish enough to fall into someone else’s trap. I should not have lied to you either. These were all my mistakes and I will never deny them! But I have never been his nominal wife. He and I aren’t even friends. Please do not accuse me of that!”

“Well, explain to me then. Why did you do all that?”

“I can't tell you yet. But you'll find out sooner or later!”

“Forget it. I don't give a d*mn anymore. Your secrets are no longer my business!”

Disappointed, Lin Wan shook her head and said bitterly, “You’re right. We’re divorced now. And my secret no longer matters to you. In that case, I wish you a happy life, too. Goodbye!”

After saying that, she took the initiative to shake hands with him and turned around to walk towards another direction.

Looking at her leaving, Li Mu never moved his gaze. He felt uncomfortable yet couldn’t exactly pinpoint his feelings.

At a distance, Lin Wan suddenly turned around and asked, “Did you really throw the watch and ring away?”

“No. They are all locked up in my drawer!” Li Mu didn't even know why he was lying but he just felt like doing it. Satisfied, Lin Wan smiled and nodded at him before turning to leave.

Li Mu returned to the office in a daze and saw He Xiaoyu, who immediately asked him, “How did it go? Have you settled the divorce procedures with her?”

“Yeah. The divorce papers are in the bag. Take a look at it yourself!”

He Xiaoyu hurriedly fished out the divorce papers and smiled happily after reading it.

“Great. We finally got rid of that bad woman, Li Mu! Eh? What happened to your face? Why are your clothes so dirty? Did you get into a fight?”

He Xiaoyu finally noticed that something was wrong with Li Mu. His nose was bruised and swollen, his hair was in a mess and his clothes were stained. It was obvious that he had been in a fight.

“I had a fight with Lin Wan!” Li Mu said furiously.

He Xiaoyu let out a gasp. Li Mu fought with Lin Wan? Judging by how messed up he is right now, Lin Wan must have got it worse!

After a moment of silence, He Xiaoyu said, “Well, the two of you were once married after all. You should’ve parted ways in good terms. There’s no need for a fight. After all, you are a man. You should’ve acted like a gentleman and treated her better!”

“She was the one who hit me. I couldn't even fight back! For God’s sake, I couldn't even touch her even I wanted to! I was the one who was being beaten up the whole time. And you still want me to be a gentleman? Should I just let her beat me to death then?”

He Xiaoyu was shocked and took a long time to realize what had actually happened. This was not what she expected! Guess it was true that one should not judge a book by its cover. To think that she usually acted as gentle and weak, who’d knew she was so fierce when it came to fighting?

“Stay here. I'm going to get you some ointments and medication. I’ll get you a new set of clothes too along the way!” After saying this, He Xiaoyu left the office hurriedly.

Li Mu waited for her to leave before leaping up from his seat. He rummaged through his office bins, which all turned out to be empty.

He rushed to the cleaning room and rummaged through the department's bin. He rummaged through the three bins one by one and finally found the broken watch.

Slipping the watch into his pocket, Li Mu rushed downstairs. He found the park property manager and asked for his help to retrieve the ring from the artificial lake.

He was now very popular in the company as many people knew about his relationship with He Xiaoyu. The property manager immediately patted his chest and assured him, “Don't worry, Mr Li. As long as the ring is still in the lake, I will find it for you and deliver it to you personally.”

Li Mu hurriedly stopped him, “Don't send it to the office. I'll give you an address. Send it to me by courier after you find it!”

In a watch shop, a watch repairer inspected the broken watch repeatedly.

After looking at it for a while, he placed the watch in front of Li Mu and shook his head. “Sir, I suggest you not repair it. It's badly broken. Many parts are incomplete. To be honest, the cost is too high to be of maintenance value.”

“Sir, please try your very best to fix it for me. I'll pay whatever it takes for it to be repaired. You must help me out. It's very important to me.” Li Mu pleaded sincerely.

The watch repairer picked up the watch again and examined it carefully before muttering, “This watch has long been discontinued and can only be repaired with dismantled parts. It costs a lot to fix and might even cost more than buying a new watch.”

“It's okay. I'm happy to pay whatever it costs as long as it’s fixed.” Li Mu said hastily.

“Alright! I'll give it a try then!”

While waiting for the watch to be repaired, He Xiaoyu called him and asked angrily, “Didn't I ask you to wait for me in the office? Where did you go?”

“I was in a bad mood so I went home!” Li Mu gave an excuse.

“Went home? You went to see her again!” He Xiaoyu asked unhappily.

“She chose to divorce without taking anything away with her, including our house. She has moved out already so I can go home. By the way, Xiaoyu, do help me check out the hotel room!”

“Oh. Alright then. I'll come and see you later then. Don't go anywhere!”

“Alright. I won’t!”

After putting down the phone, Li Mu stared at the watch repairer, only to see the latter rummaging through different boxes and drawers. After some dismantling and mending, he proudly placed the watch in front of Li Mu.

“Look at it. It's as good as new. Sir, I’m not bragging to you, but I’m sure no one else could fix it. I’m the only one who could’ve done it!”

Li Mu thanked him repeatedly and was so grateful that he even felt like bowing to him! He paid the bills and left in a hurry.

When he got back to the house, he found that everything remained the same. Lin Wan had only taken her clothes with her. Nothing else had been touched.

Putting the watch in the jewellery box, Li Mu let out a long breath. He wasn't even sure why he did that. Maybe he couldn’t bear to let her go? Or was he afraid of being beaten up by her again? Or maybe, both.

After taking off his dirty clothes, Li Mu lied on his bed and closed his eyes to think about the recent events all over again. While he was recalling, a wave of drowsiness gushed over him. He was just about to fall asleep when the doorbell suddenly rang!

It must be He Xiaoyu. Li Mu got up immediately and put on his shoes. He went to the foyer to open the door and was taken aback.

He Xiaoyu was standing at the doorway with a big bag while smiling at him.

“What are you carrying?” Li Mu couldn't help but asked.

“It's all food. You're in for a treat today! I’ll cook you some food!" He Xiaoyu replied cheekily.

Seeing that Li Mu was still standing dumbfounded, she snapped, “Why are you in a daze? Come and help me out!”

Li Mu hurriedly responded and took over all the things she was holding.

The two of them went to the kitchen together. He Xiaoyu was not shy at all as she started to sort out the ingredients she bought after putting on the gloves and apron.

Li Mu who was standing aside gave her a hand by helping to sort out the ingredients and placing them on the counter.

It was only when he took out everything did, he realised that He Xiaoyu had really bought a lot. There was a whole bunch of chicken, duck, and fish. He felt full just by the sight of it.

“He Xiaoyu, how many dishes are you going to make? There are so many things. It's too much for us!”

“We both have to work, and don't have time to go grocery shopping since we always leave early and come back late. This is to stock up for the week. It's not for you to eat it all in one day.”

It dawned on Li Mu. So this was for the whole week. Immediately right after that, he realised something and asked nervously, “What do you mean?”

“You tell me what does this mean?” He Xiaoyu asked him back.

“Wait. But why are you buying me so many foods? It’s not like I know how to cook!”

“I didn't say I want you to cook!”

Crap. I got it right. Li Mu asked apprehensively, “You're moving in?”

“Yes!” He Xiaoyu replied boldly, “I'm your fiancee. Isn’t it normal for me to live with you?”

“Are you really moving in? Xiaoyu, you have to calm down. The fact that you’re moving in right after I had a divorce, is a little, a little…” Li Mu couldn't go on, and looked at He Xiaoyu awkwardly.

“You still can't let her go?” He Xiaoyu asked with a hint of sadness.

“It has nothing to do with her. I just think it's a little insensitive. Besides, it’s a bit of a rush. You moving in right after she left will ruin our reputation amongst our neighbours. They’ll think we planned this beforehand.”

“Are you going to marry me?” He Xiaoyu asked seriously.

“Of course!” Li Mu answered stiffly.

“Exactly! You've already been single and divorced. And I'm now your fiancee. What's the difference between me moving in now and me moving in in the future? What are you worried about? It's not like you're living in a huge neighbourhood where everyone knows each other. Nowadays, who’d pay attention to you?”

She had a point. Neighbours weren’t close with each other these days, and in most cases, were not familiar with each other either. They didn't pay attention to what happens around them.

Since Xiaoyu had already put it this way, he’d better let her stay if she wanted to. She was already here with all her stuffs. He couldn’t possibly ask her to leave!

He Xiaoyu pushed Li Mu outside and pouted, “All of my luggage is in the car. Go get it for me!”

Li Mu had no choice but to do some hard work and bring up all of He Xiaoyu's luggage. He sweated profusely after bringing up five of her large suitcases.

“Just leave my bags in the living room. I'll pack them after dinner!” He Xiaoyu poked her head out of the kitchen and went back in after instructing him.

Pretending not to hear it, Li Mu carried all her bags to the guest room and placed them side by side in front of the wardrobe.

He hadn't fully accepted that he had divorced. Plus, he didn't want to act irresponsibly towards Xiaoyu just because he was trying to trigger his ex-wife.

On the other hand, He Xiaoyu had already started cleaning up the fridge. She threw away all the leftovers in the fridge, including food that were fresh and unprocessed.

Lastly, she ended up with three huge bags of garbage. She asked Li Mu to help her again by throwing them all in the garbage bin downstairs.

She was trying to show her power as the new owner of this house. This left us to wonder if the old owner would be furious when she found out.
