“There’s something else.”

Lin Wan suddenly squirmed and Mrs. Hong couldn’t help but look at her curiously. She muttered to herself, “What's wrong with Miss Lin? Why did she become so shy all of a sudden for no reason?”

“Are you up to no good?”

Lin Wan bowed her head. It was as if she had wanted to say something but she couldn't do so. Her hesitation made Mrs. Hong anxious.

“Hey. Just tell me if you have something to say. Why are you acting like that? Tell me what you need me to do. Don't worry. I can do it for you whether it's good or bad!”

She suddenly realised what she said and hurriedly emphasized, “Except for killing Mr. Cheng! We can’t kill him. At least not for now!”

“It has nothing to do with him. Can you… Can you lift part of the love spell that I casted on my husband?” Lin Wan's voice got smaller and smaller. And in the end, it became inaudible.

Mrs. Hong froze for a moment before she bent over laughing while shaking her head.

Mrs. Hong stopped teasing her and said seriously, “Since you don't want to be controlled by the love spell anymore, why don't you lift it yourself? This is the only way to eradicate it completely without any after-effects.”

Lin Wan mumbled for some time before she managed to squeeze out a few words, “Don’t lift all of it. Just a little!”

“Just as I expected.” Mrs. Hong thought to herself. She knew what was going on in Lin Wan's head completely. She did not want the love spell to cause any accidents. But at the same time, she didn't want to lose the means to control Li Mu.

“Lin Wan, you should know the consequences of doing this. Are you sure it wouldn’t be too cruel for him?” Mrs. Hong reminded her solemnly.

“Remember to not move around and don’t talk too much!” Mrs. Hong reminded, “All I did was numb your nerves. I didn't cure your injury. Your injury can only be healed through recuperation. So you better don't trigger your injury again.”

“Alright. Understood!” Li Mu responded obediently.

Lin Wan stroked his cheek and choked with sorrow, “Honey, I'm sorry. You were beaten up all because of me. Don't worry. I will never let that idiot go. I’ll help you take revenge as soon as possible!”

“He's the one you ran away from?”

“Honey, stop asking me. Mrs. Hong will explain everything to you. She will tell you all my secrets and you will understand everything.”

“You’re still hiding secrets from me?” Surprised, Li Mu said.

Lin Wan leaned forward and whispered softly in his ear, “Yeah. In fact, there are a lot of things that you’re yet to know. You will be able to put yourself in my own shoes once Mrs. Hong tells you everything. Be patient. I am ready to tell you everything.”

He Xiaoyu went back to rest. At first, she was reluctant to leave. But with a snap of her fingers, Mrs. Hong said gently, “Xiaoyu, be a good girl. Go home and have a good rest. Come back tomorrow!”

“Alright. I'll leave first. Li Mu, remember to rest well!” He Xiaoyu carried her bag and left without any other words.

Horrified, Li Mu couldn't help but ask, “What kind of spell is this? What have you done to her? Was it hypnosis or drugging?”

“Have you ever used it on me?”

Lin Wan nodded and said, “Alright. Don't worry. This is the last time. I promise I won't do that to her again.”

Still feeling uneasy, Li Mu asked another question, “She won't be in danger, will she?

Mrs. Hong answered before Lin Wan could, “What danger can there be? She’s just going home to sleep. Li Mu, don't worry. I swear I won't hurt her!”

Lin Wan stood up, kissed Li Mu on his forehead and said to him, “I’ll leave too. Mum and Dad will be worried if the two of us aren’t home this late. Get some rest first. I'll be back later.”

Horrified, Li Mu asked, “You're going back to hypnotize my parents?”

Lin Wan glanced at him gently and pouted, “Why are you so smart?”

After saying that, she left without looking back. Li Mu was horrified and wanted to get up, but was pressed down by Mrs. Hong who warned him seriously, “Are you trying to kill yourself? Have you forgotten that you're injured?”

“Mrs. Hong, chase her back this instance!” Li Mu said anxiously.

Li Mu finally stayed silent.

Mrs. Hong rolled her eyes and sat down beside him. She continued to massage the acupuncture points on his hands.

“Don't worry. We often hypnotise each other to regain strength and energy. There are no side effects at all. I’ll put you to sleep after telling you Lin Wan’s secrets too. This tactic is much better than anaesthetic.”

Li Mu suddenly recalled that Lin Wan told him that she intended to tell him all her secrets. It seemed like Mrs. Hong was going to get to the point.

As expected, Mrs. Hong coughed lightly and said in a whisper, “Lin Wan's real name is Lin Dantong. Lin Wan is her fake identity. And her real identity is the eldest daughter of the Lin Family in the South Seas.”

Mrs. Hong went on and on. And all Li Mu did was listen quietly. His expression changed along the way. He was sometimes in shock, sometimes frowning, sometimes pitying her, and sometimes angry.

About an hour later, Mrs. Hong finally finished and looked at Li Mu without a word.

Li Mu struggled to digest all the information. He did not doubt what Mrs. Hong said at all. For some reason, he was willing to trust her and thought that she was someone trustworthy.

“So, her parents are fake as well?” Li Mu asked.

“Yeah. They were temporary actors from the university’s acting club. They acted pretty well, right? I didn't even notice any flaws!” Mrs. Hong replied with a smile.

“She shouldn’t have done stuff like that!” Li Mu frowned.

"It has something to do with her family background. She had no parents ever since she was a kid, and was a little too obsessed with pursuing perfection. She didn't want you to know who she really is, and couldn't explain Lin Kun's true identity either, so…”

“I'm not talking about her lying. Sigh, how do I say it? Well, what the Lin Family is doing right now isn’t really a good thing. She should stop involving herself in such matters in the future!”

Mrs. Hong looked at him like she was looking at an idiot. She could finally understand why Lin Wan had lied to him all this while. She leaned forward and whispered into his ear, “Li Mu, your wife is the head of the Lin family. How can she escape such responsibilities? And that includes you. How could you say no?”

Li Mu was horrified and stared at her with his eyes wide open.

“What are you staring at? Do you think I'm lying to you just to scare the crap out of you? I'm very serious about this. You're the husband to the head of the Lin Family. In fact, you’re the only one. This makes Lin Family your responsibility.”
