Li Mu woke up because of his nature’s call. Upon opening his eyes, he found that Mrs. Hong was sitting by his bed as she dozed off. Judging by her expression, she seemed to be exhausted.

“Mrs. Hong!”

She woke up right away, reaching out to touch his forehead as she said with a smile, “Li Mu, you’re up? You should sleep more. It hadn’t been long since you fell asleep.”

“Lin Wan isn’t here yet?”

“No. She needs to cook, eat, and chat with your parents at home. She’ll probably take some time.”

Li Mu understood what she meant. Although the two elders would fall asleep under hypnotization, they’d become suspicious upon waking up. Lin Wan needed to explain the situation to them first before she could put them to sleep comfortably.

“In that case, could you get a caretaker for me?” Li Mu asked with slight embarrassment.

Mrs. Hong didn’t understand why he requested for a caretaker, “Where can I find one at this time? Why do you need a caretaker anyway?”

“Then please get me a nurse!” Li Mu pleaded as he felt his urge getting stronger. His expression turned tenser, too.

Mrs. Hong suddenly knew what was up with him and said, “Do you need to pee?”

Li Mu nodded awkwardly.

“You don’t need a nurse for that. I can help you. Just think of me as a nurse!”

Mrs. Hong rolled up her sleeves and got up to lift the quilt off Li Mu. This made his cheeks flush red as he stopped her fervently, “No. It’s okay, Mrs. Hong. I’m fine. I can wait till Lin Wan gets here.”

It was fine if he didn’t say such words. But once he did, it riled Mrs. Hong up.

“Look, Li Mu. I still remember what you said earlier. What are you trying to do? You don’t want to remarry Lin Wan, but you still expect her to serve you? What do you take her for? Your mom?”

“That’s not what I mean!” Li Mu quickly defended himself.

“Stop right here! The both of you have divorced. She is your ex-wife now, not your nanny! It’s not suitable to get your ex-wife to help you pee, is it?”

Li Mu was speechless. Mrs. Hong was right. Lin Wan had nothing to do with him anymore. How could he still want her to do anything for him? She didn’t owe him anything.

Mrs. Hong lifted the quilt forcefully and said in a harsh tone, “It’s your blessing to have me help you! If it weren’t for Lin Wan, I wouldn’t bother about you at all! How dare you still be choosy? There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. So just cut the crap and pee!”

Then, she got into action. Li Mu was unable to move and could only allow her to help him.

At the most critical moment, the door to his hospital room was pushed open. Lin Wan dashed in at the speed of light and grabbed Mrs. Hong’s wrist as she asked coldly, “What are you doing?”

Mrs. Hong was bewildered. She swung Lin Wan’s hand away and turned to leave the room as she grumbled, “It’s just a stack of meat yet you treat it like it’s a treasure. Your man needs to pee. You can help him all you want. I’m going home to sleep!”

Lin Wan helped Li Mu pee and cleaned him up before putting the quilt back on him again. Then, she sat by his side and landed a kiss on his forehead.

Li Mu looked at her as he blushed. He felt embarrassed, wanting to thank her but seemed to have lost his voice at this moment.

After holding back for a long while, he finally asked, “When did you get here?”

“I was already here when you said that you didn’t want me anymore. I was sulking out there. You’re a really heartless man!” Lin Wan said gently as if she was merely narrating someone else’s story.

“I’m sorry.” Li Mu said in a deep voice. This apology came from the bottom of his heart as he sincerely felt that he had wronged Lin Wan in this matter.

“I’m the one who messed it up. My stupidity ruined our marriage. I should be the one who apologize to you, and towards our relationship too. Don’t say sorry to me. You did nothing wrong!”

The two stayed silent after that. And one could hear a pin drop in the VIP single ward.

“I should try to move on from you.” Lin Wan said out of the blue.

Li Mu’s body trembled a little. And soon a wave of excruciating pain spread to all parts of his body, causing him to grit his teeth uncontrollably.

Lin Wan acted as if she didn’t notice his expression and continued to say, “Don’t worry. I won’t bug you anymore. I’ll find myself a new lover. You know that many men are interested in me. I’ll try to start something new with them, to make love with them, then to choose a man I like most and finally marry him!”

Li Mu was furious. He grabbed Lin Wan’s arm tightly and groaned out in pain loudly as his body hurt too much.

She screamed in fright and quickly held his hand, helping him to massage the acupuncture points in hope of relieving his pain.

After a moment, Li Mu’s expression returned to normal and Lin Wan finally let out a sigh of relief. She whined, “You said you didn’t want me anymore. Yet you reacted so fiercely when I mentioned what would happen in the future. Are you sure that you can leave me?”

Li Mu, looking defeated, bowed his head down as he listened to her complaints.

“You’d better not talk big like this in the future. I can’t live without you. So did you think you could without me? Think about it. If you really marry Xiaoyu, that would be unfair to everyone.”

“How so?” Li Mu asked, unconvinced.

“It’s great that you don’t want to be a scumbag. But if you are to marry a woman you don’t love for your so-called benevolence and morals and live a loveless marriage with her, don’t you think it’s too cruel for her? If you do that, all three of us would be in agony. Do you think that’s being fair and responsible?”

“But…” Li Mu hesitated but couldn’t finish his words.

“But you’ve already promised Xiaoyu, and that she wouldn’t let you go easily. That’s what you wanted to say, right?” Lin Wan asked with a smile.

Li Mu just stared at her. Although he did not reply to her question, his answer was clear.

“You don’t need to worry about it. Actually, I made a bet with Xiaoyu. We are going to compete for your love fairly so you don’t need to be too concerned. We will compete while you just sit back and wait for the results.”

At this point, Lin Wan moved closer to Li Mu’s ear, “Honey, why don’t we make a bet too?”

“What will it be?” Li Mu asked anxiously.

“We’ll bet on if I can leave you, and if I will accept you again. How’s that?” Her voice suddenly turned cold.

Li Mu shuddered subconsciously and looked at his ex-wife questioningly.

Only to see Lin Wan raised her brows, widened her eyes, and pointed her finger at him as she snapped, “Who the hell do you think you are that I can only marry you but no one else? And how dare you choose between Xiaoyu and me? Do you think you’re a king who’s choosing his concubines? Since you said that you would give up on me, why wouldn’t you let me get in touch with other men? Do you even have the right to do that?”

Li Mu’s face turned red while she scolded him. He did not dare to look into her eyes. So he shut his eyes closed instead.

He had an inexplicable feeling in his heart, not knowing what was wrong with Lin Wan these days. She didn’t seem normal to him because she would be joyful one moment and turned solemn the next. She’d always switch between being rational and unreasonable at times. Had she gone mad?

Lin Wan had scolded him for half an hour and had only calmed down a little when a nurse came in and asked her to speak softer.

After the nurse left, Lin Wan got close to Li Mu and asked again in a sweet voice, “Honey, do you still love me?”

“Are you trying to make me a lunatic from the tortures?” Li Mu asked irritably.

“Yeah, I won’t let you live well. I hope you won’t sprout nonsense and say things such as you’ll give up on me again.” Lin Wan’s voice got louder again.

The nurse who came in earlier hadn’t gone far. She frowned after hearing the commotion. But because she couldn’t afford to offend any of the patients from the VIP wards, she could only let out a few coughs outside the door, hoping the people in the room would get the hint.

Lin Wan laid her head on Li Mu’s pillow and asked him once more in a soft tone this time, “Tell me. Do you still love me?”

Li Mu was going crazy. But he’d be lying to himself if he said that he didn’t love her anymore. In the end, he gritted, “Of course I do.”

Lin Wan giggled and kissed him on the lips. Then, she said with a smile, “Seeing that you are performing well, I’ll allow you to chase after me and give you a chance to compete fairly for my love.”

“What do you mean compete fairly? Who am I competing with?”

“Other outstanding men in their respective professions. Aren’t you confident about yourself? Then show me what you’ve got and keep me away from those men! Oh right, you still have Xiaoyu as your backup plan though. You’re not going to lose anything either way.”

“Honey, let’s not fight anymore. Okay?” Li Mu said with an unconscious mind.

Lin Wan was stunned for a moment before she wept in tears and said, “Okay, honey. I won’t fight with you anymore. Get some rest. I’ll give you a massage.”

Lu Fangliang had been restless for the past few days. Both he and his daughter couldn’t contact Lin Wan anymore. It was as if she had disappeared into thin air without a trace. Now that his daughter was on a school break, she had been asking to see her mother every day. This added to his frustration.

After the final round of the competition, Lu Fangliang took the initiative to host a grand celebration while everyone was filled with happiness. He planned to strengthen his relationship with Lin Wan during the party. And if possible, he wanted to confess to her as well. The party was a success. Mr. Yan, the teachers, the choir members, and all their family members were all present, but not Lin Wan.

It wasn’t that she refused to attend this party. But no one could contact her. She didn’t even know about the occasion. After such a big incident, Lin Wan had rearranged her contact list and blocklist, in fear of making the situation worse. Other than the Lin and Li family, no one could get in touch with her now.

However, she wouldn’t attend the party even if she had received the invitation. The reason was simple. Regardless of the incident that had happened, she had decided to refrain from any communications with Lu Fangliang and his daughter. Moreover, she had known that it was the both of them who had caused her family to fall apart!

Hence, why would she want to maintain any relationship with her enemies? There was no need for both parties to keep in touch. The father-daughter duo would be hit by the Lin Family’s wrath and get revenged soon.

Since no one could contact Lin Wan, Lu Fangliang could only seek help from Mr. Yan, who had thought about Li Mu. They made a call to him, but it was declined right away. And when they tried again, they found that Li Mu had put them in his contact’s blocklist.

Mr. Yan had sharp senses so he immediately sensed that something must’ve happened. He didn’t know what the matter was but he could tell that Li Mu didn’t want to be bothered.

Therefore, he did not try to contact Li Mu again, determined to fulfill his promise that he would not pester the couple in the future ever again. When everyone saw that even Mr. Yan couldn’t contact Lin Wan, they were upset for a moment before giving up on calling her.
