Chapter 127 Ill Intentions

Lin Wan wanted to torture him of what he was proud of the most, which was his career. Lin Wan did this intentionally, as she wanted to kill her ex-husband’s pride and completely turn him into an obedient sheep.

What she did not expect was the sudden appearance of a beautiful woman who appeared to have an intimate relationship with her ex-husband. Who on earth was this woman? Lin Wan was puzzled.

The meeting went on as scheduled. And the conference host invited the General Manager of the Network department to announce the results of the service evaluation.

A bald man turned on the microphone and began to read out the results of each company’s service evaluation. Upon reaching the end, he suddenly said, “Is the representative from Weihua Group here?”

Shen Xingyue stood up immediately and said with a smile, “I’m here!”

The bald man nodded and said kindly, “Weihua Group's annual service evaluation scored ten out of ten! The company is fully staffed, services on point, and has a serious attitude and outstanding technology!”

His compliments made Shen Xingyue a little smug, but annoyed Lin Wan.

“It turned out that this woman was from Weihua Group. Had I known that I would have set another company as the role model. Sigh. What a mistake!” Lin Wan thought.

The role model? Of course. Both mediocrity and excellence had to exist side by side. Otherwise, how else could the inadequacy and inferiority of mediocrity be highlighted?

After complimenting Weihua Group generously, the bald man suddenly said, “Is the representative from Dongyang Group here?”

He Xiaoyu tugged Li Mu, and the two stood up together, “Yes. We’re here!”

The bald man glanced at them and said without mercy, “Dongyang Group’s service quality is very poor. In fact, it is the worst.”

The crowd roared with laughter once again. Who would know that the best and the worst would be huddled together and stand up together for different reasons? What a joke! Many people started to laugh and jeer at them.

Shen Xingyue deliberately did not sit down and stood along with Li Mu, raising her hand slightly and waving profusely at those who were laughing at them.

Lin Wan was about to go mad. Who the hell was this shameless woman? How could she have the guts to be so cocky? Lin Wan didn't care about the meeting anymore and left the meeting hall alone after giving a few instructions to the host.

Li Mu and He Xiaoyu were both reprimanded in public. And they knew very well that Lin Wan must be behind all of this. What puzzled them was how did Lin Wan ended up in Shanyang Group? On top of that, she had a pretty high position in the company. Just how did she get to that position?

After the two of them sat down, He Xiaoyu asked in a small voice, “Li Mu, isn't she a graduate of Teachers College? How was she able to enter Shanyang Group?”

Li Mu shook his head with a bitter smile and replied in a low voice, “She faked her identity. So of course her education wouldn’t be true either. It won’t be a problem for her to get into Shanyang Group with her family’s connections.”

“What exactly is her identity? Can’t you reveal just a little of what you know to me?”

Li Mu shook his head firmly and refused her request. This was something that must remain a secret. He would never tell anyone else his ex-wife’s identity no matter who the other person was.

“Let's go report her and bring her down!”

“Don’t be ridiculous! What do you want to report her for? What is your reason to report her if she was hired into Shanyang Group through proper procedures?”

“Report her for abusing her power for personal gains and retaliation!”

Even He Xiaoyu herself thought she wasn’t making sense. Who was she to say that Lin Wan was abusing her power for personal gains? Did she have any evidence? If you could win a lawsuit just by guesses and assumptions, then what was the purpose of having a legal system?

As for retaliation, it was outright nonsense. Wasn’t she clear enough of her own company's situation? Even if Lin Wan was trying to nitpick, they were the ones who gave her a chance to do so with their flaws.

Strictly speaking, the after-sales service of all manufacturers could be faulted by the Bureau. It all depended on whether the users had the intention to find fault in the manufacturers or not. It was indeed an indisputable fact that the after-sales service of Dongyang Group was always considered unsatisfactory.

When Mr. Yan was still in the office, the business division excelled and had outstanding results. All the leaders from their respective subdivisions focused on competing for projects and getting promoted. They refused to invest too much energy, material, and human resources in after-sales service.

By the time Li Mu took over, the business division had expanded both nationwide and worldwide. However, such a widespread protruded their flaws. And their inadequacy in providing services became much more apparent.

It was fair to say that since Li Mu took over, he has been overwhelmed by tons of complains regarding their service. Emails and faxes of customer complaints were not uncommon. And the task that Li Mu did the most at work was apologizing to customers.

Hence, today's public name and shame by Shanyang Group was nothing new. The two of them had long gained the ability to be thick-skinned. “Go on and reprimand us as you want. We wouldn’t care less since we’re so used to it already.” They thought.

But well, being thick-skinned didn't mean they were not scared. It really depended on who was in charge.

If Lin Wan decided to go all out and be totally ruthless, an apology was certainly not going to help. If they strictly adhered to the contract’s terms and conditions, Dongyang Group would suffer a tremendous loss.

There was also another chain reaction that must be taken into account. As part of the Mobile Group, both Shanyang Group and Dongyang Group were in the same city. So, if local companies chose to take a tough stance against Dongyang Group, the mobile companies located overseas were likely to follow suit too. This would be a devastating blow to Dongyang Group's mobile internet business!

The two of them sat through the meeting apprehensively. Right after that, they unanimously decided to pay a visit to the ‘top leader’. They wanted to ask her what was going on and what bad was she up to again today?

Of course, Li Mu was the most suitable person to step forth in this case. He called Lin Wan, who did not refuse to meet him and asked him to come to her office.

The two of them hurriedly headed to Lin Wan's office. Shen Xingyue was sensible enough to not follow them. After all, they belonged to two different companies. What was the point of following them if they wanted to discuss serious matters with their client? It was none of her business.

After finding the office, they couldn't help but grin. They knew this place. It was the general manager's office and they used to be regulars. It was just that they rarely came up here anymore these days. How would they expect the owner inside to be someone else now?

Steadying their minds, the two of them knocked on the door and entered. Immediately they saw Lin Wan sitting behind the boss's desk, looking at them with an expressionless face.

“Why are you here?” Li Mu asked cautiously as he smiled sheepishly.

“Mr. Li, this seems to be my personal matter and has nothing to do with you. I don't want to talk about this at work. If you have no plans to talk about work, please leave. You’re disturbing me!”

“Cut it out. It doesn’t matter if it’s a personal matter or a work-related matter. It all sums down to our family matters anyway. Did you do this on purpose? Tell me. What should I do for you to leave us alone?”

Lin Wan looked at him calmly and laughed suddenly. She said softly, “Alright then. I’ll have a chat with you for a while. You’re right. I applied for this job on purpose. But my intentions were not to go against the two of you. Instead, I came here because I liked how challenging this industry was.”

“Didn’t you graduate from the Teachers College? How were you able to…” Thank goodness He Xiaoyu was not stupid enough to ask it bluntly. Otherwise, she would’ve offended Lin Wan and there would be no going back.

Thankfully Lin Wan didn't take her words seriously. Instead, she said cheerfully, “You only know one thing but not the others. I have several professional diplomas. And mobile communication is just one of them. I guess it's right for me to be in this job.”

Nonsense! The two of them didn't believe Lin Wan's words at all. But what could they do if that was what she said? It was obviously not sensible at all to dwell on this issue. So they were smart enough to stop asking questions.

“Oh my! You're so smart. Mad respect!” He Xiaoyu responded insincerely.

“You don't have to act polite with me. I know what's in your mind. But it doesn't matter anyway. It’ll remain as a fact no matter what you think. Well. Should we get down to business?”

Li Mu and He Xiaoyu started to get nervous. They were finally getting down to business. They just didn't know what Lin Wan would do to them, and whether it would put them in a sticky situation or not.

Lin Wan locked her gaze deadly on Li Mu and asked word by word, “Who was that woman just now?”

“Huh?”

Li Mu was taken aback and stared at her in a daze. Wasn't she going to get down to business? Why did she ask this question instead? It didn't seem to have anything to do with what they were concerned!

“Didn't you hear me clearly? I'm asking you. Who was that woman just now?”

“A friend from university!”

Lin Wan didn't believe him at all and turned her head to look at He Xiaoyu. “I'm not going to ask him any further. You tell me. And if you won't tell the truth either, then I don’t see the point of any further conversations.”

“I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you!” He Xiaoyu replied immediately, “Li Mu isn’t lying. She was really one of his fellow course mates. I can prove that.”

“Nothing more than course mates?”

“There was obviously something more. They used to date each other in university for around three to four years. If it wasn’t because neither of them wanted to go to the other's city after graduation, you wouldn’t even stand a chance to be with Li Mu.”

Li Mu glared at He Xiaoyu. Why did she touch Lin Wan’s sore spot? Why was she telling her all that stuff? It was not like she didn’t know how unpredictable and moody Lin Wan could be. Wasn’t she just asking for trouble?

Lin Wan nodded. She believed what He Xiaoyu said. She knew that He Xiaoyu was not lying to her just by her expressions, and that everything she said was true.

“He Xiaoyu, can you step outside for a moment?”

He Xiaoyu stood up without hesitation and said, “Okay. I'll go out!”

Li Mu stood up hurriedly too and followed her to leave the room.

“Don't you dare walk out that door or you should be ready to suffer the consequences!” The voice behind them rang out coldly.

He Xiaoyu turned to push him back in and said with a smirk, “People are always lenient to those who speak the truth, and cruel to those who refused to do so. Stay here and answer all her questions honestly. Let’s see if you still have the guts to flirt with your ex-girlfriend in the future?”

Li Mu had no choice but to stay back. He looked left and right somehow guiltily and avoided his ex-wife’s gaze.

Lin Wan only proceeded with her question after He Xiaoyu closed the door. “Since when did you start contacting her?”

“What?”

“Don’t play dumb in front of me. I’m asking you again. Since when did you start contacting her?”

“It’s a misunderstanding! We haven't seen each other since graduation. And I just met her today. Yet you’re asking me when did I contact her? That’s nonsense!”
