Mrs. Hong grabbed hold of He Xiaoyu and whispered to her, “Don't simply walk around. This is a dangerous place. We're the guests and not the owner. Do not go against the owner's rules.”

“What do you mean with we being the guest? This is not a forbidden place anyway. I can walk wherever I want. Are you trying to fool me?”

Mrs. Hong shook her head a little and explained in a low voice, “You can do whatever you want here if you're just an ordinary person. Nobody would bring harm to ordinary people. However, we're different because we have killing intent that is against the evil energy. The owner might misunderstand it. So we got to be careful and do not stir up any misunderstanding!”

“Let go of me then. I'm just an ordinary person that doesn't have to follow their rules. Go and wait for me in the car. I'll gather the information for you guys.”

“It's too late. We're in the same boat already. To the owner, you belong to one of us. If you act alone now, you will be in trouble!”

“Mrs. Hong, could you stop talking like this to me? Aren't you just trying to hide Li Mu's information from me? Do you need to act so mysteriously just for that? Are you trying to tell me that there are spiritual beings in this shabby house?”

Mrs. Hong rolled her eyes and rebuked her, “Girl, you don't know what you're talking about right now. There are ghosts everywhere here. Do you want to see them?”

“Sure. I've never seen spiritual beings before. Please broaden my eyesight!” He Xiaoyu said casually.

“You can't see any ghosts on the road in the daytime!” Lin Kun interrupted from behind. “There's a haunted house there. I can see evil energy coming out of there. I'm sure you can see ghosts there. Do you want to see them?”

“Sure. What to be scared of?”

“Don't tease her. We're not familiar with this place and it belonged to some other owners. Let's not go to the haunted house. It's enough for her to have a look at the zombie guards!”

“Zombies? What zombies? Where are they?”

He Xiaoyu looked around and found many people in her surroundings. Some were walking. Some were playing chess and some were gossiping with one another. All of them looked normal to her and did not look like a zombie.

Mrs. Hong dragged her to a corner and stood before her. She instructed her, “Of course you can't see them because you're an ordinary person. I'll awaken your spiritual eye now. You can have a look at them once your spiritual eye is awakened. It may be a little painful. But try not to scream out loud!”

“Alright. Let's do it! I'll try not to scream.”

At once, Mrs. Hong touched her forehead with her right index finger.

Her hand was so strong that her nail pierced through her skin instantly and went deep into her forehead.

He Xiaoyu snorted and tried not to scream. Mrs. Hong was a little impressed by her and instructed her softly, “Don't move. It's almost done.”

“Stop asking me questions. This is not a place to have casual talks. You walk around and see your surroundings now!”

He Xiaoyu looked around and covered her mouth immediately.

The zombies were walking amid the living. Some of them were playing chess with humans, talking to people, and walking around like humans.

Immediately, He Xiaoyu hugged Mrs. Hong's arms. Her eyes were wide open and her body was shivering because of shock.

“Can you see them now?” Mrs. Hong smiled and asked.

“Are they human or ghost?”

“They are neither human nor ghost. We call them zombies. And we usually use them as thugs. It's a kind of secret magic that originated from South Seas. The owner in this place must have some connections with the South Seas.”

He Xiaoyu dared not look around anymore. She clung onto Mrs. Hong's arm herself and lowered her head, walking forward slowly.

“Don't worry. They won't attack us if their owner didn't give them the order. The owner here knows that we don't have any ill intentions. They have been very hospital to us.”

“Mrs. Hong, does the Lin family practice the secret magic that you mentioned just now?”

Mrs. Hong smiled and said, “Of course. We're very skillful in that, better than them at least. We can even transform a living person to be a zombie. It looks much better than the corpse.”

He Xiaoyu clung to her even tighter and asked anxiously, “Lin Wan knows how to do it too?”

“Of course. Why? Are you afraid of us now?”

He Xiaoyu finally understood what Li Mu told her last time. She thought he was trying to threaten her so that she would give up because of the difficulties. She did not expect that to be the truth. All these were beyond her knowledge and turned her worldview upside down.

In fact, Li Mu did not know about all these too. Mrs. Hong had been trying to cultivate his courage and had not told him the scariest things because she was afraid that he could not take it and ran away. However, he ran away from them eventually. They continued to move forward slowly. And the further they walked, the more disturbed Mrs. Hong became.

He Xiaoyu could sense something unusual, so she asked in a low voice, “Mrs. Hong, could you feel the pressure? It makes me feel suffocated.”

“Is this the place?” Mrs. Hong asked.

“Yes!” Lin Kun replied in a low voice. “There are building numbers on the wall. This is the location in her household registration. It must be the place.”

“Can you check which unit it is?” Mrs. Hong instructed.

Lin Kun went to the doorway alone and glared at the unit number. As he was about to walk into the building, a middle-aged man came out and blocked his way silently while staring at him.

“Let's go back!” Mrs. Hong gave the order decisively. All of them turned around and left the shantytown hastily.

They drove to the hotel. Mrs. Hong told Lin Wan, “It's an emergency. Let's leave this place immediately!”

Lin Wan did not ask further and nodded her head.

Lin Kun gathered everyone and all of them left Zhou Feng district in a few cars.

After they settled down at a new place, Lin Wan asked them what had happened.

Mrs. Hong was a little worried and said, “The girl's background was complicated. Her house was filled with evil energy and someone came out to block our way. We couldn't investigate the place. So we're not sure what's happening there.”

“Who came out to block you guys? Have you found out who they are?”

“They practice zombie magic and are probably connected to the South Seas. However, I don't remember there is any Shen family from South Seas. It must be an ancient clan that has been living in seclusion!”

“Maybe Shen Xingyue just happen to stay there. She might not have any connection with the ancient clan!” Lin Kun said in an uncertain tone.

“Xiaoyu, please be honest with us. What exactly is Li Mu's relationship with Shen Xingyue?” Lin Wan asked.

She was worried for him. Her plan was to find her husband and apologize to him so that they could live together again. She did not expect the matter to become more and more complicated. Even an ancient clan that was living in seclusion was involved in it!

“It's the kind of relationship that I've told you. They used to be lovers when they were studying at the university. But they broke up after they graduated. I didn't lie to you guys.”

Both of them left hastily. He Xiaoyu looked at Lin Wan and felt that she was familiar yet foreign to her. The more she knew about her, the more she could not understand her.

“Are you from South Seas?” He Xiaoyu asked.

“Is the Lin family a big clan?”
