“Li Mu can see them too?” He Xiaoyu asked.

“He should be able to very soon. He's my husband and will take over our family business afterward. He will get to see them often.”

“What exactly kind of business is your family doing?”

“I can't tell you that. And you shouldn't care about it too. Ignorance is bliss!”

“Alright. I won't ask anymore!”

Both of them went silent after that. Lin Wan put her pillow against the bedframe and got up to the bed, lying on the pillow. She closed her eyes and contemplated something quietly.

He Xiaoyu kept staring at her and wanted to talk to her. Lin Wan furrowed her brows and said calmly, “Let it out if there is something you want to say. If not, go back to your room now. I want to rest!”

“Alright. I want to ask you whether the bet we made is still valid.”

“What will you do if I say it's no more valid?”

Lin Wan did not open her eyes but replied to her casually with a tone full of disdain and sarcasm.

He Xiaoyu went speechless and lowered her head with a sigh.

Indeed, she could not do anything about it. What she experienced today taught her that Lin Wan was an opponent in a different level from her. As Li Mu said, she could have killed her as if she had been killing an ant.

“It's still valid!” Suddenly, Lin Wan opened her eyes. “Xiaoyu, I hope you are clear by now that I can easily defeat you. But I don't want to do it with any other help. I want to defeat you as a woman so that you will give up on my husband!”

“Okay. I believe in you!”

He Xiaoyu would have sneered at her if she had said this in the past. However, she did not think like that anymore because she knew that Lin Wan was not lying.

Lin Wan had too many ways to defeat her. He Xiaoyu knew that she did not use any magic or tricks in their rivalry because of her pride.

“I'll still thank you no matter whether I win or lose in this betting.” He Xiaoyu said softly.

“Well, I just want you to lose without feeling that I'm playing dirty so that you won't bother us anymore. I hope you will fulfill your promise because I don't want to see tragedy happen.”

“Don't worry. I'm a woman who walks my talks. If I lose, I will not bother Li Mu anymore and will disappear from your life forever!”

“Alright. I'll vouch for the same thing. I will never break the promise!”

“Is it okay if I keep the spiritual eye in the current state? What do you think?” He Xiaoyu asked all of a sudden.

“Sure. You can keep it as long as you're not afraid of seeing those things again.” Lin Wan smiled.

“Lin Wan, do you feel afraid of seeing those things?”

“I used to when I was a child. But I've grown out of it. Nowadays, they tend to hide from me and dare not come near!”

He Xiaoyu lifted her head and looked at her curiously. Subsequently, she smiled. “There is red light around you. Is that Buddha light?”

At once, Lin Wan shook her head and admonished her softly, “Stop talking nonsense. It's not Buddha light but the killing intent. No spiritual beings dare to come near because of it!”

He Xiaoyu looked at her enviously and could not help asking, “If only I can cultivate killing intent!”

“You want to enter our world? If you make a swear that you won't ruin my marriage, I'll consider helping you do it. You should be able to cultivate it since you have powerful physical fitness and mental power. You have high potential in doing it!”

“Let's talk about it again after I lose!”

He Xiaoyu rejected the offer relentlessly. Lin Wan did not persuade her further but said softly, “You won't get a chance to learn it after you lose. Don't forget that the one who loses will have to disappear from the other's life. You can't be in front of me anymore if you lose the betting.”

“We can't even be friends?”

Lin Wan looked at her with a serious face and said strictly, “No. Unless you swear that you will never covet my husband again. Otherwise, I can't stop worrying about it!”

Suddenly, He Xiaoyu laughed in a loud voice. After a while, she said happily, “Seems like you're afraid of me. Do you really think that Li Mu has fallen in love with me?”

“Am I wrong?”

“I thought so. We would have married a long time ago if you did not come into the picture. All these things won't even happen! Lin Wan, you always said that I have ruined your marriage. But in fact, it was the other way round instead!”

Lin Wan looked a little embarrassed and turned her head over. “You started it. I just want to save my marriage. It's pointless to say who was at fault now. We're even in this matter!”

“Yeah. We are even now. We owe each other nothing!”

Both of them went silent again. He Xiaoyu did not say a thing. It seemed like she did not want to leave as she was sitting there quietly. Lin Wan found her weird in the beginning. Suddenly, she came to her realization and could not help chuckling in front of her.

“Why are you chuckling?”

“Xiaoyu, are you afraid of staying alone in your room?”

He Xiaoyu chuckled along with her and admitted honestly, “Yes. I'm afraid of that!”

Honestly speaking, Lin Wan enjoyed talking to He Xiaoyu and wanted to befriend her if she was not her love rival. Sadly, things did not happen as she wanted them to be. Because of Li Mu, both of them could not become friends.

“Xiaoyu, let me give you a tip. If you were to see those things again, never look into their eyes and pretend that you did not see them. Then, you will be fine.”

“That simple?”

“Yes. It's that simple. If those things find out that you can see them, you will be in big trouble!”

“Why so?” He Xiaoyu was puzzled.

“The reason is simple. Let me ask you this. Why do you think those things do not reincarnate but choose to linger in the physical world?”

“Is it because there is something that they cannot let go of in this world? Maybe because of some dissatisfactions or grievances?”

“You're smart. Your answer is correct. They have some unrealized wishes that make them feel reluctant to go for reincarnation. Some want to repay others. Some want to take revenge. Some are not willing to give up on somebody. In short, they have something that holds them back from leaving this world!”

“I guess I know the reason already!”

“Tell me your guess!”

“Is it because they cannot fulfill their wishes themselves because they are no longer human? So, they will force me to fulfill their wishes for them once they find out that I can see them?”

Lin Wan clapped and said, “You're really brilliant. No wonder...”

Suddenly, she felt something was wrong with the line that she was about to say, so she stopped instantly and changed her words, “Yes. That's the reason. Some of their wishes are difficult to fulfill and some are impossible to fulfill. No matter how capable you are, you can't satisfy all of them. Instead of entangling with them, we might as well ignore them so that they will not get a chance to do what they want.”

“Is there any other way to go about?”

“Well, you can cultivate your killing intent like us so that they are scared of you like how a mouse sees a cat. Then, you will be free from troubles.”

“Besides going for cultivation, is there still any other way?”

Lin Wan weirdly smiled at her and said in a low voice, “There is one more though. Are you a brave person?”

He Xiaoyu replied to her instantly, “Yeah, I am. Tell me what should I do.”

“Go and kill as many people as possible so that the killing intent around your body becomes more and more intense. Then, none of them will dare to go near you. Do you have the guts to do it?” Lin Wan asked with a serious face.

Her words frightened He Xiaoyu.

She shook her head vigorously and rejected instantly. “Forget it. I won't commit crimes. Spiritual beings might not come near me, but the police would chase after me. I'll get killed if I dare to do it!”

Lin Wan looked at her with a smile. She was just joking around with her.

He Xiaoyu was not bothered by it either. Somehow, she kept on glaring at the bed.

“Don't tell me you want to sleep in the same bed with me?” Lin Wan asked with a smile.

“The bed is big enough for both of us. Don't worry. I don't really move around when I sleep!”

“That's not the point. The point is I'm not used to sharing a bed with people!”

“So, you and Li Mu sleep separately?”

“Is Li Mu any ordinary people?”

“Fine. I'll sit here and sleep!”

Lin Wan chuckled and started resting with her eyes closed. He Xiaoyu pouted and leaned on the back of the chair with her eyes closed too.

After a while, Lin Wan spoke to her, “I think I should remove your spiritual eye. It's too dangerous for you. And it's not that useful to you at all!”

He Xiaoyu rejected the idea immediately. “No thanks. I feel that it's rather useful. I can keep it for entertainment purposes. Don't have to trouble you!”

“Is it because of him?” Lin Wan asked casually.

“It has nothing to do with Li Mu!”

Her explanation was a little unconvincing because she gave herself away by concealing the truth.

“Humph. You just concealed the truth yourself. Still want to deny it?”

Lin Wan mocked He Xiaoyu unceremoniously with a dissatisfied stare.

“I've told you that it is not the reason. Think whatever you want!”

“Xiaoyu, I'm serious about it and I'm not trying to harm or trick you. You should think about it carefully. If you lose and have to disappear from his life, you don't have to accommodate to his needs even if he is to have any power next time!”

“What if I win?”

“See, my guess is correct!”

Lin Wan snorted coldly. But surprisingly, she did not jeer at her. She continued explaining to her, “If you win, I will disappear from both of your sights. Why would you need that burden after you go back to live a normal life?”

What she said made sense. He Xiaoyu hesitated to listen to her or not.

“What about this? I'll give you a test now and see whether you can pass the test.”

“What kind of test is it?”

“It's a simple one. You look at me now and assume that I'm non-existent. You have to pretend that you can't see me no matter what I do. If you can do that for 10 seconds, I'll stop persuading you then.”

“Alright. Let's do it!”

Lin Wan sat up and smiled. “Let me know when you are ready. Look at me after that and remember to pretend that you can't see me. You got to keep your eyes open.”

“Okay!” He Xiaoyu took a deep breath, “I'm ready. Let's start!”
