Chapter 153 The Reason for Running Away

Outside Shen village, Shen Zixing and Shen Ming’er successfully sneaked out. Both of them were carrying a bulging big bag with something inside.

“Sister, are we really going to find him?” Shen Ming’er asked.

“Yeah. I know where he is. Not too far from here, he is trapped in a steel container. We have to get him out or he’ll be starving to death.”

“Why don’t you inform our people to hunt him down?”

“Are you dumb? We were the ones who let him off. Shame on us if someone else get him back instead. We have to catch him by ourselves to make up for our mistake. Do you get it?”

“I understand now. Let’s get him now!”

Li Mu woke up gradually and tried to get up. But he was still dizzy and could not remember anything.

These days, his mental status was in high tension. He hid himself among the freight after sneaking into the train. He finally loosened up when the train started moving and fell into deep sleep unknowingly.

The train stopped when he opened his eyes again, not sure how long he had been sleeping. He checked his phone for the clock, realizing that it had only been a while.

Li Mu was out of sight as the coach was too dark. He walked toward the door carefully, attempting to push the door. But it wasn’t moving a bit. He pushed the door in another direction but failed eventually. He looked through the crack of the door. Sh*t. Who the hell locked the door?

Li Mu observed the surroundings and found out that he was not at a train station right now. There was a garage over there. And he saw many train coaches around. Gosh. It was a train assembly station!

He was so doomed. Nobody knew when would they move this coach. If they decided to leave it for a few weeks, he was going to be starved to death.

Li Mu was so frustrated because of his lacking of runaway experience. He thought about withdrawing money but had forgotten to buy food and water. How was he going to stay alive without food and water in this enclosed space?

He started smashing the door and yelling for help. But no one could hear his yell, unfortunately.

The more anxious he was, the thirstier he got. Li Mu forced himself to stay calm and check for the freights to see if there was any food in it.

He was getting disappointed as all the freights were being opened. Nothing was related to food.

It had been two days but no one came around the coach, not to say moving it. Li Mu was having a bad feeling, thinking that he was going to starve to death here. He was reluctant to die in this way because it was too cowardly!

Li Mu learned some first aid knowledge before and he watched some mine disaster films too. He knew that he must save himself in this environment without food and water. Or else he was not going to make it.

In those films, people who were trapped under the mine would drink their own urine in order to stay alive.

Another day passed. Li Mu decided to do what they did in the film because he needed to stay alive. But in reality, it was too hard for him to do it.

Miners had caps as containers but Li Mu had nothing! We could never ask him to contain his urine in the shoes, right?

Li Mu went to check the freights again. Most of them were electronic suppliant, and the rest were clothes. None of them could be used as a container.

There was no other way but to rest on the floor to save up energy. Li Mu fell asleep again dazedly without knowing how long the time had passed.

Li Mu felt someone was blowing towards his face when he was still half unconscious. He opened his drowsy eyes and saw a ghost lying beside him, covering her face with hair, staring at him with a pair of red eyes.

Li Mu screamed and backed off to keep a distance from her. By the time he backed off, he touched another person from the back. It was another ghost with the same style.

Li Mu had figured out who they were. So he started to calm down. He was afraid of one ghost but not two.

He sat up and asked, “Why were you girls here?”

The Shen sisters stopped acting and flipped their hair to the back. Each of them pulled each of his ears hard.

Li Mu screamed out of pain and warned them, “Let go of your hand! Or else I’ll get mad!”

The Shen sisters let go of their hands. Shen Ming’er shouted, “Bad brother, you’re full of lies. We should’ve just left you alone and starve to death. See if you still dare to lie to us?”

Mentioned about starving, Li Mu asked immediately, “Did you bring any food with you? Even water is fine!”

The Shen sisters hugged their baggage tightly and looked at him teasingly. That was enough. Li Mu tried to grab the baggage from them. The two girls teased him for a while before actually giving him some food and water.

After filling his stomach, Li Mu lied down on the freight satisfactorily and asked, “How do you find me?”

“My sister has a special ability. She can find people through their hair. You left some on the pillow and she found you through those hairs!” Shen Ming’er explained.

“That’s extraordinary. How did you do it?” Li Mu asked Shen Zixing, out of curiosity.

“Nothing much. Just burn the hair into ashes and conduct a ritual with it. And we’ll locate you just by that!”

“Do your people do that too?” Li Mu asked worriedly.

“Impossible. It’s my sister’s unique ability. No one knows how to do it!” Shen Ming’er answered.

Li Mu was relieved. He was afraid that everyone knew how to conduct the ritual. If Shen Xingyue knew too, he wouldn’t be able to hide from her.

“Brother, come with us!” Shen Zixing ordered Li Mu.

“To where?” Li Mu asked on purpose.

“Back to Shen village. Our people are anxious. You should come back with us. If Sister Xingyue doesn’t see you when she returns, she will be anxious too! Beware of karma if you abandon her!”

Li Mu felt that it was ironic. He slowly said, “What a joke! What karma? What did I do wrong? Why should I marry your sister? Is your family trying to force me?”

“Brother, you’re not making sense. My Second grandfather said that you were the one who proposed to Sister Xingyue. You two are getting married soon. Why are you trying to deny?” Shen Ming’er questioned loudly.

“I admit that I proposed to your Sister Xingyue and she accepted, too. But please tell me. Is she still the person she used to be?”

“What do you mean?” Shen Zixing asked.

“Are you both dumb? How can you not understand such an easy idea? Alright. let me figure it out for you. First question, when was the original Shen Xingyue supposed to die?”

“Not much time left. She will pass away after a week or so.”

“Okay. Then how about the current Shen Xingyue? How long will she live after she comes out?”

“After Sister Xingyue refills her live, she can live till 80 years old!”

“Mm-hmm. It seems like she’s getting a long life. But does it belong to her?”

The Shen sisters turned silent. Li Mu sneered and continued, “The Shen Xingyue I know is yet to die but deep down she’s already dead to me. The newborn Shen Xingyue is just continuing someone else’s life. Why would I hold my promise to marry a stranger?”

“It’s not like that. Sister Xingyue is still herself. She’s just borrowing some blessings to add up on her life expectancy. Nothing’s changed besides that.”

“What kind of change are you expecting? Let me ask you. If she prolongs her life, does the life belongs to her or someone else?”

“What are you talking about?” Shen Zixing got confused.

“That’s simple. She is supposed to die at 25. It means that her life will be over by then. Stealing someone else’s life to prolong hers is more like borrowing someone’s corpse to pay for their soul. Are you sure the newborn Shen Xingyue is the original Shen Xingyue?

“You’re making some sense, but…”

“Cut the crap. I can’t accept someone who uses sorcery to prolong her life no matter she was forced to do it or not. Somebody had to sacrifice his or her life for her. Someone like this is unworthy to be my wife.”

The Shen sisters looked at each other awkwardly.

Shen Ming’er whispered, “Sister, Grandfather used to say that life prolongation by sacrificing life was a sorcery and the Shen Family is not allowed to use it…”

“Shut up! Stop the nonsense, Ming’er!” Shen Zixing scolded loudly.

“Your sister isn’t talking nonsense. Your grandfather is the man of honor. He never used sorcery for himself and prohibited your people from using it. Have you ever thought about this matter?”

The Shen sisters sunk in deep thoughts. Li Mu spoke while putting both of his hands under his head, “Life prolongation. Is it a blessing or a disaster? I think both of you know it better than me. I just want to tell you that my wife Shen Xingyue has passed away. Your current Sister Xingyue is none of my business.”

“So you don’t want to marry Sister Xingyue anymore?” Shen Zixing asked slowly.

“I can’t look into her eyes. I don’t even know if she is dead or alive. But I know she isn’t the pure Shen Xingyue anymore. So I won’t marry her.”

“Sister, I think Brother is making sense. We shouldn’t force him!” Shen Ming’er whispered.

“Stop calling me that. I’m not your brother-in-law. Call me Brother Mu instead!”

“Okay!” Shen Zixing spoke first, “Brother Mu, please follow us back to the village. Our Master is reasonable. You can repeat to her what you said just now and I’m sure she will agree to cancel the marriage.”

Li Mu waved his hand and asked, “Why did your Master come out of the mountains?”

“Master received news from Second grandfather. And she came down for…”

“For your Sister Xingyue’s life prolongation. It means that your Master, as well as your Second grandfather and other elders, isn’t as wise as your grandfather. No one is going to be reasonable there in the village. The situation is going to be hopeless.”
