“Mrs. Hong, stop talking to Xiaoyu in that way!” Lin Wan pretended to be angry and scolded her.

Mrs. Hong got what she meant at once and knew what she was planning to do. She purposely looked at the opposite side and smiled without saying a thing.

Lin Wan asked He Xiaoyu, “Xiaoyu, are you planning to cultivate fatal energy by changing your bones?”

Lin Wan was clever enough not to expose her plan and found a reasonable reason for her.

He Xiaoyu took the opportunity and nodded her head.

“Using the Bone of Death to cultivate fatal energy indeed is the best way for now. After you do it, the spirits and ghosts won’t dare to go near you. Then, you don’t have to remove your spiritual eye too.”

“Yeah. That’s what I thought. Lin Wan, can you help me with this?” He Xiaoyu looked at her with hope.

Lin Wan pretended to look hesitant and then went to look at the broken Corpse of Death. She murmured, “The shoulder bone and leg bone are gone. There are not many suitable bones left.”

He Xiaoyu came near her and tried to resist the discomfort. Then, she asked, “There are quite a lot still. Are they not suitable for bone replacement?”

Lin Wan explained, “Though many bones left, most of them cannot be used. The skull, backbone, and pelvis bone cannot be replaced. Only the ribs can be used.”

“Why can’t we use them?”

“Bone replacement magic can only promote the growth of muscles and skin, but not important organs. There are brains in the skull and the spinal cord in the backbone. Inside the pelvis...”

Lin Wan whispered at He Xiaoyu’s ears and spoke softly. She nodded after listening to her. “Yeah, that cannot be replaced!”

“Yeah, left the rib bones. Do you want to replace those?” Lin Wan asked.

“What will happen after I change my bones?”

“I’ll do it then!” He Xiaoyu answered without hesitation.

“Why would I do that? You will be my benefactor in the future. I swear that I will not fight but will only fairly compete with you.” He Xiaoyu said while swearing.

Lin Wan smiled happily. “Acknowledging that I’m your benefactor is good. But how dare you want to compete with me. Don’t you feel embarrassed to compete with me? Stupid girl, you’re going to fall into my trap!” She thought.

“Xiaoyu, there are twenty-four rib bones. How many do you want to replace?”

“Replace all of them!”

“No way!” Mrs. Hong could not help but say, “Both of you are too much. You got to leave some for the Cheng Family. Li Mu has already taken the shoulder and leg bones. And now you want to take all the rib bones. Can you imagine how angry the Cheng Family will be?”

“So what? Since they have already been so angry, it’s alright to let them be angry a little longer!” Lin Wan said indifferently.

“You’re alright with it, but not the Cheng Family. Xiaoyu, listen to me. Replace half of them only. You think about it. It’s a male corpse with a large frame. Do you want to become a woman with a big frame? You’re going to look ugly!”

After destroying the evidence, Lin Wan and the rest went down the mountain to look for clues. Subsequently, Mrs. Hong released a group of butterflies that looked not very big in size and with a grimace pattern on each of their wings.

“What are they?” He Xiaoyu asked.

Mrs. Hong explained, “They are the wind butterflies. The Bone of Death has very concentrated fatal energy. It will leave a unique scent wherever it goes. Ordinary people can’t smell it. But the butterflies can. We’ll follow wherever they go to destroy the evidence so that the Cheng Family can’t find them later.”

They went into the car and followed the butterflies. Then, they found a rented house.

Before they went near the house, they saw two police cars parked in the yard. A few of them were collecting information from the residents around.

Mrs. Hong stopped the car alertly and ordered Lin Kun, “Kun, go over and see what’s happening!”

“Okay!” Lin Kun got down from the car and acted as if he had been a passer-by who went to see what was going on.

After a short while, he walked back hastily and frowned while he said, “Something bad has happened. It’s going to be complicated now. Li Mu and his group have murdered not one but twelve people. And all of them had gone missing. They were the gangsters in this vicinity. They went out with Li Mu and never came back after that. Their families have lodged a report. And the police are looking into this case!”

“The bone replacement was successful!” Lin Wan and Mrs. Hong said at the same time. After that, they breathed a long sigh of relief as if a stone in their heart had been removed.

Though they did not say anything about it, actually, they had been worrying for Li Mu.

They were afraid that the girls’ skills were not good enough to change Li Mu’s bones because it might cost his life if they failed. After listening to the news, they confirmed that Li Mu had replaced his bones successfully. The twelve gangsters were probably the sacrifices of his test-run.

“Oh my. Li Mu had murdered so many people?” He Xiaoyu murmured and her eyes were filled with sorrow.

“Your focus is wrong, isn’t it!” Lin Kun reminded, “So many have come to know this. And if the Cheng Family comes here for investigation, their identities will most probably be exposed.”

Lin Wan and the rest came to their senses. Then, Mrs. Hong asked, “What’s the situation now?”

“It’s been in the local news already. The police categorized it as a serious case and are investigating it. Li Mu was so foolish that he murdered the gangster and left with many witnesses.”

Lin Wan and the rest furrowed their brows. Indeed, this matter was complicated now. No matter how capable they were, they could not hypnotize all of them. Besides, this place was not far away from the burial ground. Once the Cheng Family came here, they needed not to collect information from anywhere. What they needed to do was read the local news.

“Mrs. Hong, what should we do now?” Lin Wan turned to Mrs. Hong.

Mrs. Hong said calmly, “Don’t be panicked. We’ll find a way. Kun, why are they gathering there?”

“Oh, they are the eyewitnesses. The police want to bring them to the police station to draw the criminal’s portrait. They’re waiting for a bus to come.”

“Eyewitnesses and portrait!” Mrs. Hong muttered, and suddenly her eyes lit up. “I got an idea!”

“What is it?” The other three asked.

“Lin Wan, let’s go and pretend to be the eyewitnesses and help them alter their memories in the bus. An old man and a young fella will be a good combination for murderers.”

Lin Wan laughed and nodded. “Alright, we’ll give them our testimonial now.”

Mrs. Hong ordered two of them, “You stay here and wait for us. Kun, move around and see whether there is anyone that we have missed out on after we leave. Remember this. The murderers are one old man and a little girl. You imagine how they look like yourself!”

Lin Kun laughed and answered, “Don’t worry. I’ll know what to do!”

Mrs. Hong and Lin Wan got down from the car and they held each other’s hands and walked to the crowd. After listening to what they were talking about, they sort of knew what to do later.

After a while, a bus came to them. Then, the police arranged for the eyewitnesses to go onto the bus. Mrs. Hong pulled Lin Wan, and they went onto the bus.

By right, giving testimonials should be kept private and confidential and not be done publicly.

However, that was for the general cases. Confidentiality was no longer that important since it was a case that involved twelve people and many eyewitnesses. Would the murderer have the ability and daringness to take revenge against a whole community?

Besides, the police were very professional by not asking them explicitly to give testimonials but to assist in the investigation.

Everyone drew the portrait individually, so nobody would know what the rest were saying. Confidentiality was kept and they did not need to worry that the suspects would take revenge after the incident.

After Lin Wan and Mrs. Hong left, Lin Kun took action immediately. There were many people gathering in the yard still. Most of them were not eyewitnesses but passers-by.

Lin Kun did not bother talking to them. Then, he went around the yard and went into the house a few times. And there he found some eyewitnesses that the police did not identify.

He was lazy to describe the suspect’s face so he snapped his fingers and erased their memories.

When he came to the car, he found He Xiaoyu missing. Lin Kun immediately went around to look for her. After a short while, he saw her strolling back.

After they got into the car, Lin Kun questioned her unhappily, “Didn’t Mrs. Hong ask you to stay in the car? Where have you been?”

“I went to the washroom. Why are you angry with me? I’m not a criminal. Why are you restricting my freedom?”

“I’m not. It’s just that this is an unfamiliar place. How am I going to give an account to Miss Lin if anything happens to you!”

He Xiaoyu looked at him solemnly and asked, “You love Miss Lin. Am I right?”
