Shen Ming'er stretched her tongue out cheekily to lick Li Mu's hand that was covered over her mouth.

Li Mu hurriedly took his hand away and scolded in a low voice, “You brat. You're getting more and more reckless these days! How dare you tease me?”

Cheekily, Shen Ming’er said, “Brother Mu, you can always tease me back! I promise I won’t scold you!”

“Stop it. We’re in grave danger yet you still have the nerve to fool around!”

“Don't worry, Brother Mu! They won't attack us. We have the amulet to protect our lives!”

“What amulet?”

“Duh, the Shen Family bloodline. My sister and I are both heirs of the Shen Family. These corpse puppets belong to the Shen Family and they will never attack their master.” Shen Ming’er said confidently.

“True. Shen Ming'er is right. We are from the Shen Family and we bleed Shen Family’s blood. They wouldn’t dare to attack us and should be protecting us instead! This is their mission and their oath.” Shen Zixing echoed.

“An oath?” Li Mu asked in amazement, “Such half-dead creatures like them can still swear?”

"Of course they can!” Shen Zixing explained, “The combination of a corpse and a ghost is a puppet. A soulless creature is a zombie who can't speak, can't think, and are hard to control. We don't even bat an eye at them.”

“They can even talk and think?” Li Mu asked in surprise.

“Yes. They have no problem with simple conversations and logical thinking. Not complicated ones though. They’re dead after all and can’t be compared to the living!”

Li Mu nodded and asked, “What if we really get into a fight later? Do they have any weak points? Or should I ask, how can I kill them?”

“There's only one way, which is to chop off their heads!” Shen Zixing replied solemnly, “Injuring them won’t do any harm. The only way to kill them is to chop off their heads. That's the only way to kill them!”

Thump. Thump. Thump. As they spoke, a corpse puppet walked in from the courtyard. This puppet was extremely tall and muscular and walked with a thud.

Everyone in the room went silent and looked at the doors and windows nervously to prepare themselves against a sudden attack from the corpse puppets.

The huge corpse puppet walked all the way to the door of the room and gently pushed the door open a slight crack. Suddenly, he raised his leg and kicked the door open. The two sisters inside the room cried out in shock, while Li Mu couldn’t help but curse.

The house was already shabby in the first place. And the door was literally useless at this point, as it was no better than a bad piece of wood. That one kick from the corpse puppet turned it into broken pieces. It bent down and got into the room through the hole it just made.

It was so huge that when it entered the room, it immediately took up a large part of the space. Li Mu and the others could not help but take a few steps backward while gripping their entrenching shovels tightly and staring at the corpse puppet warily.

The big guy looked at the Shen sisters and said to them in a jarring voice, “Get out!”

The two sisters looked together at Li Mu, who tilted his head a little and said, “Let's go out!”

The big guy pointed at Li Mu and said without hesitation, “You, stay!”

“Why?” Li Mu asked.

“You’re not from the Shen Family!” The big guy responded.

“He is my brother-in-law!” Shen Zixing shouted.

“Plus, he is our man!” Shen Ming’er added.

The big guy looked down and pondered. Apparently, the terms ‘brother-in-law’ and ‘our man’ were something new to it and beyond its comprehension skills. Hence it didn't know what to do.

After thinking about it for around fifteen minutes or so, the big guy turned to leave. Forgetting to duck his head on his way out, he knocked half the wall down with a huge crash.

Li Mu grimaced. He knew very well that he couldn’t underestimate this big guy’s strength. And it’d be best for them to settle on good terms. Otherwise, he really wasn't sure if he could beat it.

About half an hour later, thudding footsteps could be heard as the big guy returned.

With the walls already down, it didn't lower its head this time when it entered the house and just walked in through the hole.

“Get out! Stay behind!”

The big guy pointed at them and said so. Judging by his gesture, he was instructing Shen Zixing and Shen Ming’er to leave. And Li Mu was still the one asked to stay behind.

“Why should I stay behind?” Li Mu asked.

“You’re not from the Shen Family!”

“What do you want to do to me?”

Li Mu suddenly realized what he asked had a hint of affection and was about to change his way of asking when the big guy responded.

“Die!” The big guy replied without any expression.

The two sisters cursed at it immediately with all the vulgarities they’ve learned throughout their whole lives. Li Mu was shocked at how fierce they were.

The big guy looked at them coldly as its black aura gradually intensified. And Li Mu knew that it was ready to make a move.

He hurriedly pulled Shen Zixing to him and placed the blade against her neck. He said to the big guy, “Hey, the heir of the Shen Family is now my hostage. You’d better go back and think about it. Do you want her dead or alive?”

Shen Ming'er ran to them immediately, “Me too. Me too. I'm a hostage too!”

The big guy was confused once again, as the current situation was beyond his comprehension skills for the second time. Without another word, he turned around and left the house with a loud thud.

“Brother Mu, he's gone now!” Shen Zixing said with a pout.

Li Mu let go of his hand and said to them, “These corpse puppets won't hurt you. You won't be in danger as long as you don't go wandering around and stay put. As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. It's time for me to leave now. The two of you should go back to Shen village and take care of yourselves in the future!”

The sisters were alarmed as Shen Zixing shouted, “Brother Mu, what are you doing?”

Instead of responding to her question, Li Mu sprang into action and leaped out of the room. With a slash, he slew his entrenching shovel to the right and to the back. One by one, the corpse puppets dropped dead.

Immediately after that, he kicked a corpse puppet in front of him and sent it flying in the air. It landed on another bunch of corpse puppets.

Li Mu seized the chance and jumped up the courtyard wall. He was about to jump down and escape when a millstone flew in from afar and smashed hard against the wall.

The wall collapsed with a loud bang as Li Mu stumbled and fell into a pile of broken bricks. Before he could get up, the corpses puppets around him roared and lunged at him.

“Don't hurt Brother Mu!” With a sharp cry, a few corpse puppets’ heads were sent flying into the air as the two sisters killed their way into the group of corpses puppets.

The group of corpse puppets did not dare to fight them and retreated backward in fear. Li Mu took the opportunity to get back up and wielded his entrenching shovel to kill a few corpse puppets nearby. He scolded the two sisters, “You brats. Why didn't you listen to me? Why are you trying to play a hero?”

Shen Zixing shouted, “I'm not trying to play a hero. We’re in this together, Brother Mu! I'm saving my man!”

“Me too!”

There was no time for reasoning. Li Mu shouted, “Let’s get out together. Let’s go!”

The big guy’s ferocious roar could be heard from a distance. Upon hearing its orders, the corpse puppets pounced at them immediately as if they were out of their minds and did not hold back at all.

They attacked mainly with their sharp claws and teeth. They were strong, fast, agile, and very resistant to fights. If their heads were not cut off, they would fight their opponents to the very end and would never surrender voluntarily.

The retreat earlier was not because they were afraid of Li Mu and the two sisters, but it was because they did not dare to make a move against the two sisters who were from the Shen Family. But now they had been given the orders to do so, they started attacking the three of them without hesitation.

The three of them were stressed yet were still able to cope with it due to their extraordinary martial art skills.

The two sisters from the Shen Family were one of the best in their clan, while Li Mu who changed his bones had pretty slick and powerful moves though he didn’t have much technique as the two sisters yet.

All this killing made them excited. And Li Mu even took the lead and tore those corpse puppets into pieces.

Thud. Thud. Thud. Loud footsteps could be heard as the big guy sped towards them.

Li Mu shouted, “That big guy is insanely powerful! Don't try to tackle him. Run back the way we came!”

They managed to kill their way out of the village. But before they could breathe a sigh of relief, they suddenly heard a loud roar. Li Mu fixed his gaze on it and couldn’t help but shriek. The two sisters beside him also let out a sudden cry.

What was happening before their eyes were mind-blowing. All they could see were various wild animals all over the woods hissing and pouncing on them. The animals were mainly wolves, with many black bears and tigers blended in together with the wolves and launched a sudden attack at them.

“Holy cr*p. Run back!” Li Mu yelled.

The three of them turned to run back and came face to face with the big guy, who opened its arms wide and sped towards Li Mu with a weird scream. By the looks of it, it planned to grab Li Mu and tear him to pieces.

“Charge through!” Li Mu shouted and charged towards the big guy. When he was about three meters away, he leaped up. Stepping hard on the shoulder of a corpse puppet, Li Mu used the force to leap up even higher. With a perfect front flip, he flew over the big guy's head.

The two sisters leaned forward and charged as they slipped under the big guy’s armpits. As they got up, they cut off the heads of two corpse puppets.

The three of them moved as fast as lightning. And by the time the big guy realized what was going on, they were already rushing towards the back of the village.

As they were about to get out from the back of the village, a sudden huge explosion near the head of the village could be heard. Boom. Boom. Boom. As explosions went off in all directions and flashes of fire lit up the sky, a wail came from the herd of beasts.

It was normal for beasts to be afraid of fire and explosions. The beasts were clearly mind-controlled by a spell. And the fires and explosions eased the constraints of the spell.

Among the explosion, a woman’s screams could be heard: “Honey, don’t be scared! I’m here to save you!”

Furious, the big guy roared loudly. Leaving Li Mu and the others behind, it led the corpse puppets and turned towards the head of the village instead.

Li Mu jerked to a halt and froze for a moment before cursing aloud, “Holy cr*p!” Turning around, he charged towards the head of the village too.

Shocked, the two sisters shouted, “Brother Mu, you’re heading the wrong way! We have to run for the hills. Don't go back!”

Li Mu refused to listen to them and rushed back like he was out of his mind. He knew very well who was here. And he couldn't possibly leave her alone. Nor could he escape without her. He made an immediate decision without any hesitation in such a panicking life-and-death situation.

In the space at the head of the village, Lin Wan and Mrs. Hong had already fought with the big guy for a few rounds now. The more they fought with it, the more frightened they were!

This corpse puppet was out of this world! He was big and powerful. But the most important thing was that he seemed to be invincible. It was as if every spell and trick turned into dust when it hit the big guy.

They had to keep an eye out for the attacks by the other corpse puppets. So they were quickly outnumbered. Mrs. Hong stood in front of Lin Wan and shielded her behind. She was ready to sacrifice her life for Lin Wan if necessary.

At this very critical moment, she suddenly saw the corpse puppets in chaos as three people could be seen rushing over from behind the village. When she looked closely, she saw that the man who led the team was her husband, whom she loved and hated and dreamt endlessly about.
