Chapter 274 It Sounds like a Confession

Lan Zun said in a small voice, "Ruoyu, wake up."

Murong Xue was in great pain, shivering and trembling. Still bleeding, she was enveloped in the devil's qi that spread in her body.

Seeing this, Lan Zun changed his face. He stepped forward and wanted to take her in his arms, but he bounced off a strong force when he almost touched her.

"What is this?" Lan Zun's right hand began to shake, and he held his right hand with a look of astonished incredulity.

The force that just hit him was no less powerful than his power. He wondered if Mu Ruoyu got her power back.

Lan Zun was unwilling to give up. He tried to approach her again several times, but he always ended up bouncing off. Now Murong Xue was completely cocooned by a black light ball, informing a giant ball. It gave Lan Zun more trouble than he expected. Rubbing his forehead, he had no idea what this was.

He removed the shield outside the Nine-stage Pagoda.

"You b*st*rd, how dare you lock me outside!" Xiaobai stormed in.

"Cut it out. Take a look at her. What's this?" asked Lan Zun, pointing at the big black egg in the bed.

Xiaobai stopped kicking Lan Zun and looked over at the bed.

"What did you do?" asked Xiaobai, wondering if Lan Zun changed his mind after ten thousand years.

Lan Zun answered, "I did nothing. She just became this. Aren't you the oldest creature since ancient times? You should know what is going on here." Xiaobai was even older than him and it had a heritage passed down from generation to generation.

"D*mn, I let you in because I want you to drive the devil's qi out of her body, but you tell me you did nothing?"

"I tried, but it didn't work!"

"What do you mean it didn't work? Even if you are not as strong as you used to be, you still have the fundamental force as a God. The devil's qi means nothing to you. Are you still resenting her and getting back at her now?"

"I told you it didn't work. I'll never hurt her!" Lan Zun's eyes showed traces of his excitement and then became normal. He asked, "So tell me, what's going on with her?" He found the current situation very familiar, but he knew nothing except the feeling.

Taking a look at the giant egg, Xiaobai spoke slowly, "I don't know, but I've heard that the first Devil the Son was born from a giant black egg. People only take it as an urban legend and nobody knows if it's true. Since the devilmen have distanced themselves from the Three Realms, no one is able to find out the truth."

"Devil the Son?" Lan Zun's eyes grew cold and he became very formidable. He formed a small light ball in his hands at once.

Xiaobai changed its face and grabbed him by the hand. "What are you doing?"

Lan Zun said coldly, "I can't let her become a devil!"

Xiaobai asked, "You're crazy. She will die if you do it. You're okay with that?"

"She will die?" The light ball in Lan Zun's hands died out gradually. He stared at the giant black egg with a complicated look.

Xiaobai said flatly, "What's the big deal if she becomes a devil? She was a god ten thousand years ago, but she ended up like that. What's the difference between a god and a devil?"

"..."

The Fengyun Continent was peaceful now, but the world outside was undergoing earthshaking changes.

The Black Pavilion everyone was avoiding had officially challenged the Loong Pavilion and announced its intention to rule the world. The virus the Black Pavilion developed was going around and spread throughout cities in the world very quickly. People who were infected would turn from cheerful crowds to mindless zombies in an instant. The virus spread so quickly that world leaders had no time to respond before they became the zombies' food.

With the doomsday coming, some of the people who had been infected by the virus were able to reach their highest potential and develop psionic power, and they had decided to stand together for the first time.

People had never been as supportive as they were today. The damage the Loong Pavilion had suffered was unprecedented, which was caused by traitors instead of zombies. In the capital, half of the people in the organization were reduced to zombies because of the virus dropped by traitors, and the same went for the rest of its branches in other provinces and areas.

For the first time, the Loong Pavilion and the people with psionic power were united to build a shelter where uninfected people were relocated safely. Everyone who lived in the shelter had to do daily tasks for supplies.

People with psionic power were responsible for getting needed supplies outside. Since the world was at an end, nothing but food was important. People needed food to survive.

Cultivation sects did not stand by as spectators. Instead, they sent people to work with the Loong Pavilion and look for those with spirit roots among the survivors, who would be trained to be future warriors.

Huangfu Yi and others managed to protect Murong Xue's grandparents from being infected or hurt. The grandfather and the grandmother shed silent tears when they saw the city in ruins.

At the same time, Murong Xue was unaware of what was going on outside. Her consciousness seemed to have drifted away from her body, whose whereabouts remained unclear.

Day by day Xiaobai and Lan Zun remained unmoved, watching the giant black egg in which Murong Xue was.

After one week, Feng Ziling achieved purple-level. Feng Ziling did not find Lan Zun when he went to visit him, and he was later told by the innkeeper that Mu Tian and the others were missing for days.

Feng Ziling had a terrible feeling, so he came to his sister in a hurry, who he found was also looking for them. Then he knew that Murong Xue and the others had been missing since he left for cultivation. Besides, the associate dean, who was responsible for assessing Lin Nan and the others that day, was also missing. Not only Feng ZiLing but also Longyu College had sent people to look for them, but they found nothing.

Feng Ziling's heart twisted. He was unwilling to think that something bad had happened to Mu Tian and the others, so he was insanely looking for them every day. He did not know where he should go to find them and he did not have any clue, but the only thing he knew was that he could not stop looking for them. He was determined to find them.

As time went by, it had been a month since Mu Tian and the others disappeared. The Lunatic in Longyu College had already lost his passion for fighting. Both the college and the Feng Family had asked about his problem, but Feng Ziling said nothing. Feng ZiLing could guess what happened to her brother, but she was also very sad about losing close friends, which made her unable to comfort Feng Ziling now.

But one day, things had a turn.

"Feng Ziling, it's not been too long since we met last time. Why do you look so terrible?" asked a familiar voice.

Crouching on the ground, Feng Ziling was startled. He did not dare to look up because he feared that it would be his illusion again as he missed that person too much.

"What's wrong? I'm talking to you." Murong Xue patted him on the head.

Feng Ziling felt her touch and looked up at once, but the surprise in his eyes faded when he found out it was not the one he wanted to see.

"Hey, are you thick? Am I too ugly to be recognized now?" said Murong Xue with a pout. She looked down at her body and murmured, "I don't think so. I find myself pretty cool. Am I very different now?"

Feng Ziling rose up at once and grabbed her shoulder with great excitement. "You are Mu Tian?" His tone was surprised yet cautious, but the hope in his eyes revealed his eagerness to see Mu Tian come back.

Murong Xue rolled her eyes. "Who else could I be? Is your eyesight so poor that you can't recognize me now?"

Feng Ziling's eyes widened. He held her and choked with sobs, "You are not dead. Great..."

Murong Xue felt his tears dropping on her neck, so she only patted him softly instead of pushing him away. "Nonsense. Of course, I'm not dead." She was sad that Lin Nan and the others did not wake up but seeing Feng Ziling brought her some comfort.

Feng Ziling had no idea how he survived the last month. Everyone told him that Mu Tian and the others died and that they would never come back, for which his sister cried out yesterday. People sent by the college had found a few pieces of the associated dean's clothes on the path outside the city. Since the associate dean, who was at purple-level, was killed, people believed that Mu Tian and the others were also attacked and died.

Murong Xue and the others were just enrolled, so Longyu College did not have time to make life cards for them. However, the college found the associated dean's life card broken in his room, so everyone believed that they all died.

Feng Ziling hugged her tightly and it hurt Murong Xue, but she did not say anything to stop him. She understood the feeling of worrying about someone.

After a long time, Feng Ziling finally let go of Mu Tian, and his eyes were red. He checked her out again and again and then he asked with a worried face, "Mu Tian, why do you look like this?"

Murong Xue was still dressed like a man, wearing a simple white robe. The silver mask she wore now was similar to Lan Zun's but larger than his, covering almost her whole face. Only her eyes were exposed and her black hair turned dazzling purple.

Murong Xue asked in a small voice, "If I'm not human anymore, will you unfriend me?"

Feng Ziling was shocked. "Not human? What do you mean?" His heart twisted again, and he hoped that it was himself rather than Mu Tian who suffered this. In his eyes, Mu Tian had always been a track-minded man, but now Mu Tian appeared to be sentimental, which upset Feng Ziling.

Looking at students passing by, Murong Xue said, "This is not the place to talk. Let's go back to the inn and I'll tell you."

Feng Ziling realized it after Mu Tian pointed it out. Seeing people around them pointing fingers at Mu Tian, he looked around and warned them with cold eyes.

Many students turned away because of Feng Ziling's authority, but the whispers did not stop and the two heard them all.

"Look, that young man with purple hair is so strange."

"Is he a monster or what? Why does he wear a mask?"

"But he wears the college uniform."

"It's scary. We have to stay away from him."

"I wonder which class is so unfortunate to have him?"

"Anyway, we shouldn't take people like him in, and I can't see his level."

"The monster's power is different from our spiritual power."

"All in all, we should wipe him out from the world. Who knows what trouble he'll cause here?"

The veins were popping out of Feng Ziling's temple. He gathered his purple-level spiritual power to throw the talkative crowd tens of meters away. Then he spoke in a cold and angry voice, "Go away!"

"Oh god, the Lunatic achieved a higher level."

"Let's go. The Lunatic is mad now. We don't know what he will do."

"Oh god, the Lunatic seems to be very familiar with that monster."

"Shut up. Let's get out of here if you still want to stay alive."

"D*mn, the Lunatic is even more terrifying than the monster."

"..."

The audience fled away immediately.

"Ha-ha, you scared them away. You are terrifying." Murong Xue patted her chest.

When Feng Ziling's eyes met Mu Tian's smiling eyes, his face stiffened. "I'm not..." He looked uncomfortable.

Murong Xue stopped joking and patted him on the shoulder. "I know. Thank you. Let's go now." She took the lead.

Feng Ziling followed her up and said in his cold and clear voice determinedly, "No matter what you've become, my feelings for you won't change."

"Ha!" Murong Xue's laughter was sweet, echoing in the college. "It sounds like you've just confessed your love to me."

Feng Ziling's heart raced fast and his face grew very red. "I, I..." He failed to say anything meaningful for a few moments.

"Ha-ha, you're so cute." Murong Xue smiled. "I'm joking. I know you regard us as your partners, but..." Her smile disappeared.
