With his face darkening, Prince Yan asked coldly, "Should I be killed since I have strange purple eyes?"
"I didn't mean that, my Lord." The guard knelt down, shivering. It was well-known that Prince Yan could not bear to hear others talking about his purple eyes, which would irritate him easily.
"Get on your feet and say nothing more." Prince Yan waved his hand wearily.
"Yes." The guard rose up and kept silent.
At the same time, Murong Xue looked around to make sure that there was no one around when she was far away from them. She sat cross-legged and tried to gather her spiritual power, but she failed again.
It seemed that her spiritual power had just disappeared.
Murong Xue changed color and her face paled. If she really lost her spiritual power, she would be unable to find her parents and save Lin Nan and the others, which was unacceptable to her.
She tried several times, but nothing changed. She seemed to be constrained by something. Although she could not use her spiritual power now, it was comforting that she could still feel her spiritual power in the pubic region. She just could not use it.
Standing up, Murong Xue looked around and saw nobody else. Just like what Prince Yan said, she was unable to search everywhere in the Infinite Forest all by herself. The Infinite Forest was too vast to show its boundary.
She took out some fruits from the Space and ate along the way back. Then she found that the spiritual power within the fruits returned to her public region after she swallowed them down. No spiritual power was retained in her meridians. This was the first time this kind of situation had happened to her. She wondered if Xiaobai knew what the reason was.
Before long, Murong Xue returned to where the carriage stopped. Prince Yan was still sitting on the grass. She walked over and gave him the fruit. "I found the fruit on the way. Do you want to eat?"
Prince Yan took a look at her and took the fruit, ready to bite.
But in that instant, the guard standing next to him got down on one knee and took out a silver needle. "Please let me examine it before you eat, my Lord."
Murong Xue's lips twitched when she heard it. She felt speechless that the guard wondered if she was poisoning Prince Yan.
Prince Yan looked at her again.
Murong Xue rolled her eyes. "Give it back to me if you don't want it." She was annoyed that her kindness came to no good, but she also understood why they behaved like this. This was a different country of a different time she was unfamiliar with. She guessed that the customs would not be much different from what she knew.
Mu Tian reached out to take back the fruit, but Prince Yan avoided his hand. Instead of taking over the guard's silver needle, Prince Yan took a bite of the fruit. The moment he ate it, he felt the swell pulp melt in his mouth and his body warmed up pleasantly.
The guard changed his face and exclaimed, "My Lord!"
Prince Yan waved his hand. "Back off."
This was the first time Prince Yan had eaten such a delicious fruit. He turned to Mu Tian and asked, "Where did you find it?"
"The wood over there." Murong Xue paused for a moment as if something had occurred to her before she continued. "Don't bother to look for more. I found two and each of us ate one."
Prince Yan stared at Mu Tian coldly as if he had wanted to catch his lie with his eyes.
Murong Xue could not care less about Prince Yan staring at her since it would do her no harm. She would not have asked for trouble or given the fruit containing spiritual power to him if he had not promised to help her look for Feng Ziling.
It was getting dark. The guards made a fire and surrounded the carriage in a circle. Even a mosquito was unable to come near under such heavy security. Murong Xue and Prince Yan got in the carriage to rest some time ago.
Luckily, the carriage was big enough to accommodate two people, and they could sleep on each side. However, the carriage was not as comfortable as the bed at home and they might fall over when they turned over in sleep.
Murong Xue was unable to fall asleep. The mental pressure was even worse than the physical tiredness.
Mu Tian turned over repeatedly. When he did it once again, Prince Yan could not refrain from asking in a cold tone, "Are you going to sleep or not?"
Murong Xue apologized, "Sorry. Is that annoying? I'd better sleep outside."
"There is heavy fog outside, cold and wet. Do you want to get sick? Just stay here."
Murong Xue said gratefully, "Thank you!"
Prince Yan was much more easy-going than those Murong Xue had met before. She was surprised by his gentle attitude and kind help.
"Sleep now. Don't worry. If your friend is in the Infinite Forest, we'll find him."
Murong Xue thought to herself, "Ha-ha! I knew it. He is a kind man with a cold face." Then she raised a smile and responded to Prince Yan, "Okay."
"Sleep now."
It was a dreamless night.
At daybreak, Murong Xue was rubbing her shoulders to relieve the pain. After all, the carriage was not a comfortable bed.
"A grown man is so delicate," said Prince Yan sarcastically.
Murong Xue felt speechless that rubbing her shoulders could incur Prince Yan's complaint, but she made no response as she knew he did not mean to hurt her.
"Look at your dirty clothes. Here are some of my clean clothes. Go and take a shower in the river now." Prince Yan took out a suit of clothes from the hidden drawer and handed them to Mu Tian.
Murong Xue paused for a moment before she waved her hand hurriedly. "No, no, no. No need."
Prince Yan's face darkened. "Hurry up."
"No." There were a few hundred soldiers outside, so Murong Xue found it impossible for her to do it. A boy could shower in the river, but she was a girl.
"Don't you find it disgusting? You are covered in mud from top to toe. Maybe you like to be dirty, but you can't get my carriage dirty. Understand? Now, go!" Prince Yan gave Mu Tian a contemptuous look and pushed the clothes into his hands.
Murong Xue looked at the clean clothes with bitterness. She also wanted to refresh herself, but...
Prince Yan ordered coldly, "Go!"
"I can't take a shower when anyone else is around," said Murong Xue.
"Such a bashful grown man. What's wrong with you?" Prince Yan found Mu Tian even more challenging to deal with than himself.
"I won't do it if so many people are outside watching." Murong Xue answered. She did not care about being bashful since she was not a man.
Prince Yan rubbed his head with a bitter face. Now he realized that Mu Tian was big trouble.
Prince Yan's cold eyes annoyed Murong Xue. "Nothing will change if you keep looking at me like this."
"If you don't shower, you can't get in the carriage. Get out and walk with the guards." Prince Yan decided not to tolerate Mu Tian anymore.
Murong Xue wasn't scared. "Okay. No problem." She put down the clothes and got off the carriage. Now she was able to observe the environment and look for the traces left by Feng Ziling when she went forward on foot.
Prince Yan's eyes shone coldly for a moment. This was the first time that someone dared to talk back to him, so he decided to let Mu Tian experience the difference between walking and sitting in the carriage. Since Mu Tian seemed weak and tiny, Prince Yan guessed that Mu Tian would come and beg for his forgiveness in half a day.
Since Murong Xue got off the carriage, she had been silent to Prince Yan.
It was fine at first, but her feet got blisters as time went by. The pain made her face pale.
Now Murong Xue tasted the bitter fruit of having no spiritual power. If she had not lost her spiritual power, her feet would have been perfectly fine even if she went forward on foot for a month.
Prince Yan raised the curtain and saw Mu Tian, whose hair was wet, walking with a painfully pale face and gritted teeth. He put down the curtain and thought that Mu Tian would not stand long.
However, two hours passed. Mu Tian still did not ask Prince Yan to let him get in the carriage.
"Bang!" There came the sound of something heavy hitting the ground.
The carriage paused for a moment.
"My Lord," said the guard outside.
Prince Yan asked indifferently, "What?"
The guard answered, "The man with purple hair passed out."
"What?"
Prince Yan raised the curtain at once, shook off the guards' hand, and jumped off the carriage. Then he saw Mu Tian lying on the ground.
"Hey, Mu Tian, wake up!" Prince Yan tapped Mu Tian on the face.
Then Prince Yan picked up Mu Tian and found him too light to be a man.
"Let me do it, my Lord." The guard tried to take over Mu Tian in Prince Yan's arms.
"Out of the way." Prince Yan got into the carriage with one light jump.
Prince Yan put Mu Tian on the soft couch in the carriage and wiped his face carefully with a handkerchief. Mu Tian's pale lips added a feeling of tenderness to his androgynous beauty instead of weakening his finely carved features. His purple hair wet with sweats appeared to be more attractive on his face.
Prince Yan suddenly felt a throb, and his heart raced faster. He rose up at once and backed to sit on the other side of the carriage. He frowned as he disliked the feeling he had now, which made him want to kill Mu Tian, but he could not do it every time he saw his purple hair.
In the end, Prince Yan got out of the carriage with a distracted face and gave the guards an order. "Stay put and have a rest now."
"Yes, my Lord."
After a while, Prince Yan saw the guard he had sent out before coming back with a man in his arms.
The guard put down the man on his back and said reverently to Prince Yan, "My Lord, I found an unconscious man on the other side of the Infinite Forest."
"Where did you find him?" Prince Yan came forward and took a look at the unconscious man. To his surprise, this unconscious man was also stunningly handsome and he looked manlier than Mu Tian. But this man had black hair and he looked very normal.
"In the Silent Valley."
"Put him here." Since Mu Tian was in a coma now, Prince Yan decided to wait for him to wake up and confirm it himself.
After two hours, Murong Xue opened her eyes slowly. The pain on the sole of her feet sobered her immediately. "Ah! Ouch!"
But she rejoiced to find that Prince Yan did not abandon her. "He does have an ounce of decency," she thought to herself.
Murong Xue got off the carriage painfully and wanted to thank Prince Yan, but then she saw a familiar figure lying on the ground. She rushed over. "Ziling, wake up!"
Murong Xue checked Feng Ziling's pulse and felt relieved when she found him just a little weak. She helped him sit up and wanted to bring him to rest in the cool shadows of the trees, but he was too heavy for her. Helplessly, she asked Prince Yan for a favor. "Can you help me?"
