Prince Yan waved to the guards standing by, and one of them came over at once and picked up Feng Ziling.
Murong Xue said to the guard, "Thank you. Please put him on the grass over there."
The guard nodded and carried Feng Ziling to the grass. Murong Xue once again realized the importance of spiritual power. If she had not lost her spiritual power, she would have been able to do it herself instead of asking others for help.
Murong Xue took out a handkerchief and walked to the river to get it slightly wet. Returning to Feng Ziling, she wiped his face carefully and pretended to take out a bottle of pills from her pocket that was actually from the Space. She took one recovering pill and put it in his mouth. Luckily, the pill liquefied as soon as it entered the mouth, which saved the trouble of swallowing.
Prince Yan watched them for a long time before he asked, "Is he the one you're looking for?"
Murong Xue put away the bottle of pills and turned to Prince Yan. "Yes. Thank you."
Prince Yan doubted, "What is the relationship between you two? Both of you are wounded. Do you have any enemies?"
"No. I've told you that we both fall from the sky and we are thus wounded." Different from her previous joking tone, Murong Xue's attitude was serious. Prince Yan helped her find Feng Ziling, so she felt that they owed it to him.
Prince Yan felt amused when Mu Tian mentioned that he came from the sky, but he suppressed his sarcastic smile when he met Mu Tian's serious eyes. "You mean it?" He found it quite ridiculous that some people came from the sky.
Murong Xue nodded. "I'm telling the truth all the time."
Prince Yan changed his face and questioned, "So you are monsters?"
Murong Xue was amused. "Are you kidding? No. We are human beings, just like you. We get hurt."
Prince Yan looked at Mu Tian. Instead of feeling creepy, he only found Mu Tian's smile very beautiful. Even Mu Tian's bizarre purple-colored hair appeared to be extraordinarily dazzling in his eyes. "Why is your hair different from your friend's? Yours is purple, but his is black."
"My hair used to be black. After I was poisoned, it became purple. But I like the new color. It doesn't bother me."
Prince Yan murmured, "Normal people won't like such weird things. It's unnatural, after all."
"Weird? Purple is the symbol of elegance and magnificence, which matches my noble position." Although Murong Xue backfired, she vaguely realized that Prince Yan felt sympathy for them only because of her purple hair. Besides, she noticed that Prince Yan kept avoiding her eyes when they talked to each other. Considering the backwardness of the current time, she could understand why.
"Ah…" Feng Ziling lying on the ground woke up at this time.
Murong Xue asked nervously, "Ziling, how do you feel?"
Feng Ziling sat up and eyed Mu Tian up and down. "Mu Tian, how are you? Are you hurt?"
Murong Xue answered with a smile, "I'm fine. Just some minor injuries. I'll be all right soon." Then she thought of something and her face darkened. She whispered to Feng Ziling, "Ziling, can you use your spiritual power?"
"My spiritual power?" Feng Ziling tried to gather his spiritual power for a while, but his face darkened at last. He failed. "What's wrong?"
Murong Xue shook her head and muttered, "I don't know. I woke up to find my spiritual power gone. There must be a reason for that. We have to find it as soon as possible. Otherwise, we will never be able to leave here."
Feng Ziling still had other questions to ask, but then he realized that many people were watching them. He moved closer and whispered in Murong Xue's ear, "Who are they?"
"Come here. Let me introduce you to each other. This is Prince Yan and this is my good friend, Feng Ziling. Prince Yan saved you, Ziling."
Feng Ziling folded his hands and said gratefully, "Prince Yan, thank you for saving my life."
Prince Yan was very nice to Mu Tian, but now he only nodded with an indifferent look.
Then it got a little uncomfortable and awkward.
"Prince Yan?" asked Murong Xue.
"You can call me Jiu Yan," answered Prince Yan.
"Jiu Yan. I'm thinking, thank you for your help these days, but we might as well split up here since I've found my friend now. This bottle of pills can be the antidote for varied poisons. Take it as my thank-you gift." Murong Xue took out a bottle of pills from her pocket and gave it to Prince Yan.
Jiu Yan looked at Mu Tian coldly. Instead of taking over the bottle, he asked back coldly, "Hum, you just leave me after exploiting me?"
Murong Xue paused. "I didn't mean that."
"What do you mean then?"
Murong Xue ignored his cold face and explained kindly, "We have something important to do. Besides, we'll only cause problems for you if we stay."
Jiu Yan's cold face softened. "You two stay with me. You are my trouble from the moment I met you, and it doesn't bother me at all. More importantly, you don't have any means of identification here, and you will be deported sooner or later." Jiu Yan did not know why he wanted them, especially Mu Tian, to stay, but he was sure that he disliked seeing them leave now.
"But..." Murong Xue frowned. She wanted to find the exit, but what Jiu Yan said made her realize that a lot of trouble awaited her and Feng Ziling.
"No but. Get in the carriage." Jiu Yan took the lead and walked to the carriage.
Looking at each other, Murong Xue and Feng Ziling decided to stay with Jiu Yan until they arrived in the imperial city. They were aliens here, so it was very fortunate for them to have someone who was willing to help them.
"Hurry up. We should be going." Jiu Yan's voice came through the window of the carriage.
"Let's go, Ziling. We'll find a way out when we get out of here."
Feng Ziling nodded. The two walked to the carriage.
Meanwhile, the guards' eyes were fixed on them. Murong Xue sensed that the guards' eyes seemed to be more unpleasant.
After getting in the carriage, Jiu Yan sat on one side, and Feng Ziling and Murong Xue sat on the other side.
Murong Xue and Feng Ziling were talking and laughing all the time while Jiu Yan sat aside and stared at them coldly.
Finally, Jiu Yan opened his mouth. "Mu Tian."
Murong Xue looked up in doubt. "What?"
Jiu Yan patted the seat next to him. "Come and sit here."
"Why?" Murong Xue was confused as there was no need for her to change her seat.
Jiu Yan said, "Come here. Your friend just woke up. Sit here and let him take a break."
"Oh, right! Sorry, Ziling. I forgot that. Rest now." Murong Xue then rose up and sat down next to Jiu Yan. It happened so fast that Feng Ziling failed to stop her.
Feng Ziling's expression delicately changed, and he surveyed Jiu Yan with his eyes.
Jiu Yan responded with a significant smile.
But Murong Xue did not catch the silent drama happening between the two men.
The carriage was big, but it was not big enough to allow Jiu Yan and Mu Tian to keep a distance. Mu Tian's ragged clothes were dirty and muddy, but Jiu Yan smelled a pleasant fragrance from him.
During the journey, Murong Xue gradually realized that something was going on between Feng Ziling and Jiu Yan as the two often argued about where she should sit. In the end, Murong Xue could not put up with it. She got out of the carriage from time to time to walk with the guards. As Murong Xue spent more time with the guards, they changed their hostile attitude and became more friendly to her and Feng Ziling.
After one week, they arrived on the outskirts of the city, but it still took some time for them to enter the main urban area.
"Put on this before you go out." Jiu Yan handed a hat to Murong Xue.
Murong Xue understood why he did this, so she took the hat and put it on. "Let's go."
A tinge of sadness flashed in Feng Ziling's eyes. He wanted to take this on for Mu Tian. He was unwilling to see Mu Tian suffer from people's judging eyes just because of his purple hair. Although Mu Tian seemed not to be bothered by it, Feng Ziling still felt sad for him.
Jiu Yan could understand Mu Tian's feelings most. After all those years, he was not going over that, and the scars would remain within him all his life.
Seeing through the hat's big brim, Murong Xue found the streets full of various novelties. She walked to the stalls to appreciate the dolls. Different from those made by machinery, the hand-made dolls were even more exquisite and beautiful. Without mass production, each of the dolls came from the craftsman's long and careful work. Murong Xue looked at the dolls as if she had been never going to put them down.
The stallholder started to promote. "Do you like them, young man? Buy some. My products are cheap and nice."
Murong Xue was going to pay the stallholder, but then she realized she had no money in this world. Embarrassed, she wanted to put down the dolls. At this moment, a long-fingered hand held out a note. "Here. It's for all the dolls."
"Thank you, sir. Thank you." Holding the note, the stallholder bowed with a flattering smile that revealed his gums. The note was equal to one hundred taels of silver, which had a year's worth of his family's living expenses.
Murong Xue hesitated. "Jiu Yan, thank you, but I don't need so many dolls."
"You like the dolls, and I don't need money," said Jiu Yan. "But, only you like these girlish things." Jiu Yan then thought of the feeling he had when he held Mu Tian in his arms that day. Mu Tian was very thin and he had a soft and slender waist that was better than the ones of average girls. If Mu Tian's chest had not been so flat, Jiu Yan would have doubted if he was a woman.
"You are the girlish one. This is art. Understand? You know nothing about art?" Murong Xue's gratitude suddenly disappeared.
