Chapter 307 Don't lie

Without giving Gu Jinchi the chance to come over and pursue the matter again, she had already instructed Qichen to drive away from the hotel.

Along the way, Qishen had quite a few more questions, "Did you just find something?"

She rubbed her temples to help soothe her nerves, "Those things should all belong to my grandmother if there are no surprises."

"But these things definitely shouldn't be here, and I'm going to figure out what's going on now."

Kirchen murmured, "Is the person you're meeting now very much related to this?"

The question was a bit borderline, and she subconsciously asked back, "What?"

"If so, you shouldn't be able to ask anything if you go over there in such an exuberant manner."

He had a good point with that.

Cynthia is currently the only one who still knows where her grandmother is.

Even though she doubted the reason for their presence here, she shouldn't have treated Cenxu poorly.

It was a chance she should take, and use the ring to at least pry a little more.

By the time she arrived, she had calmed herself and walked in with a smile on her face.

Seeing her coming, Cenxu drew out an amiable smile, "Look who's here."

She went up for an affectionate hug and took a seat in the parlor with Censer, "Actually, this time I came because there's something I don't understand a bit."

"What's wrong?" Shamu asked suspiciously as he eyed her.

She didn't hide it either, and directly took out that one ring to show Cenxu.

I didn't expect that before she said anything, Cenxu's face changed greatly first, "Isn't this your grandmother's ring? How did it get on your hand?"

Seeing that Cenxu could recognize the ring, she wasn't also a bit surprised, "You know?"

"Your grandmother and I have been old friends for many years, her ring, of course I recognize it, just how did it end up here with you?" Cenxu held the ring and scrutinized it for a few moments, obviously quite a bit more gruff in his emotions than she was.

"I got this from an auction I attended today and thought it looked familiar so I wanted to ask you to look at it as well." She hid her emotions and said the words she had prepared in advance.

"Since you feel the same way, I'll ask directly."

"Could you please contact Grandma for me so we can also find out why this ring is at the auction."

"This ..." Cenxu mused, his face difficult.

"It's not that I won't help you, it's that your grandmother's current job is classified and there's nothing I can do about it." She handed the ring back and intoned, "But don't worry, your grandmother and I have been friends for years, I can at least ask my superiors about her current situation."

"Don't worry, your grandmother must be safe now."

Although Cenxu was so full of promise, her heart was still a little twisted.

Here in FT, it seems that all the secrecy has been done extremely well, so far she has not heard a single superfluous wind blowing, but has given her a net in the matter of Sheng Feiyu.

She couldn't help but wonder a little about her grandmother's current situation.

But every time she thought of Cen's kindly appearance, she couldn't bear to doubt it.

Seeing her sad face, Qishen understood, "If there is no progress, I would still suggest you think long and hard about this matter."

For the FT thing, she still needs to keep it a secret, and she can't say too much about Qishen right now, she just closes her eyes in the back like she's never heard of it before.

Looking at the familiar scenery on the street, she was suddenly distracted and remembered Fu Lao.

"Wait, turn around."

It had been hard to come here, and she should probably go thank Elder Fu once more as well.

If it wasn't for him now, I'm afraid that both she and Gu Jinchi would have both gotten killed.

The villa is still the same miserable look, the yard is overgrown with weeds, she does not believe that after investing so much money, Fu Lao can not even afford to hire a cleaning.

The large villa was lit by just one light, and she knocked gently on the door, only to find that it was just hidden.

"Fu Lao?"

She pushed the door open and called out tentatively, but there was no answer.

Doubt rose in his mind and led Kishen with him towards the lighted room.

As soon as she pushed open the door, she saw Fu Lao, who had collapsed amidst waves of blood, and her pupils shook violently as she hurriedly ran over, "Fu Lao?!"

Fu Lao's head still has unstopped blood, the whole person's breathing is already very weak, it looks like the person who came in to attack him should have only left a short time ago.

Qichen had already called an ambulance, and it was already midnight when he handily settled Fu Lao down at the hospital.

Fortunately, Fu Lao's body was strong, or perhaps that person had little experience, he was now out of danger and regained consciousness.

Su Qinglan helped him pour a cup of hot water and sat on the side with a worried face, "Did you see clearly, what kind of person moved?"

Fu Lao tried to shake his head, but bared his teeth in pain from pulling on his wound, "It smashed right over from behind me, I didn't notice."

She sighed, "Why are you home by yourself with the door to your room open."

"I didn't turn it off?" Fu Lao's face showed surprise, and then lost his smile helplessly, "I'm also getting old, and often forget things easily."

"This is not trivial, this is murder." Her demeanor went cold, "I'll call the police for you right away."

"Hey hey hey, wait." Fu Lao took a sip of hot water and eagerly called out to her, "We can't call the police yet."

If you don't call the police when something happens, do you wait to call the crematorium?

Su Qinglan frowned, "Why?"

Fu Lao glanced at Qi Chen, and only after he had the sense to walk out did Fu Lao's face show his gravity, "There's still information on the serum I've researched there right now, and I need you to help me with this favor."

"You quickly go and see if the stuff is still there, and if it is, at least bring it out before you call the police."

That's a secret that no one can know about.

She abruptly got a little backed up and her face sank, "I'll be right there."

After arranging for bodyguards, she was relieved to leave the hospital and go straight to Fu Lao's villa, but as soon as her car drove nearby, she saw a plume of smoke drifting over the entire villa area.

Her heart stuttered, and the bad feeling grew stronger.

Only when he got closer did he realize that Fu Lao's one villa was already ablaze.

The fire was fierce both inside and outside the house, and thinking of that secret, she gritted her teeth and drenched her jacket with water from the car, and was about to rush in when a hand reached out from the crowd of people watching and pulled her right back in.

"Who?" She looked over warily, and saw Gu Jinchi scowling at her one by one.

He made a gesture to follow him over and walked ahead.

The fire had been cordoned off by the fire department at this effort, just one step away from her being able to go in and confirm it.

She gritted her teeth and got into Gu Jinchi's car after holding back her unwillingness.

There were only two people in the car, him and An Nian, and he didn't see Shirui's shadow, but he could smell a faint perfume odor.

Her mind was still extremely uncomfortable.

"What's wrong?"

Gu Jinchi took a document from An Nian's hand and handed it to her, "You don't need to go looking for it, I've already had someone take it out."

"How did you know?" She was surprised for a moment, and sighed in relief as she took the paper bag and quickly unwrapped it.

This one was a follow up to her noticing that the back seat of the car still had a list of test tube like things that Anni was organizing.

But ... she frowned, "You knew ahead of time that this would happen?"

Regardless, this was too much of a coincidence; she and Fu Lao had left for perhaps two hours, yet Gu Jinchi had precisely found the item and brought it out in that amount of time.

She pressed on, and Gu Jinchi didn't hide it, "I've been following you."

"You're not in the right state tonight, tell me what's going on."

A wave of warmth flowed through her heart, but the scent of perfume in the air quickly helped to calm such emotions.

"So, you followed me?" Her eyes were indifferent, her tone equally cold.

Gu Jinchi didn't admit it, but it was already a fact.

This information, however, was thanks to Gu Jinchi following her.

He looked complicated, "After you and the ambulance left, we took what was inside and waited here. Someone came and set the fire an hour ago and shouldn't have known about any of this yet."

That way it's not about stealing information, it's just about trying to just destroy everything.

The only one directly related to this matter is Gu Zhuyan, and Sheng Feiyu has been arrested.

But how exactly did Gu Zhanyan find out about Fu Lao?

She looked at Gu Jinchi, a most likely guess in her mind, "When you came here, you were followed by Gu Zhanyan?"

He shook his head, the same frown on his face, "I haven't been here since last year, you can rule out following me for that."

Then ... things only go back to just last year when things went wrong.

She always had the feeling of being immersed in a vast conspiracy, and being passive like this made her shudder.

"Why do you think it's Gu Zhuyan?" After looking at her for a long time, Gu Jinchi suddenly asked faintly.

When she reacted subconsciously, she felt that Gu Jinchi was asking a nonsense question.

But calming down and thinking about it, all those things Gu Jinchi didn't know.

In his perception, up until now, she hadn't had any personal aspect with Gu, and even if there was a conflict, it was because of his hostile relationship.

That one question just now had exposed her instead.

Seeing her silence, Gu Jinchi knew he had guessed correctly, "Why didn't you tell me something?"

"What did Gu Zhanyan do to you?" He tried his best to look calm, but the veins on his arms were bulging.

She averted her eyes, not wanting to expose too much on this matter, "You're the one that Fu Lao saved, and the person who wishes you the least right now is Gu Zhanyan, why do you think I know?"

She reacted extremely quickly to pull the paragraph out, but it paled in comparison.

Gu Jinchi had turned from disbelief to anger as he drove An Nian out of the car and questioned in a deep voice, "Did he have something to do with what happened a year ago?"

"You speak, and I'll make him pay for his blood at once now."

Beneath the silence, she suddenly laughed at the comment, a vaguely sarcastic laugh.

She met Gu Jinchi's somewhat reddened eyes, her divine light calm and without waves, "A year ago, is it too late for you to pursue this matter now?"
