HELENA'S POV:
"Heli, the models are here. Let's go." Diana entered my cabin speaking while I was busy on a file. "Just give me five minutes Diana darling, let me complete this file." I got back to my file once I saw her getting comfortable on the chair in front of me. "Aiden is having really hard time these days. He has gone for site seeing today as well and I know he won't stop until this project is fully ready." Her words dragged all my attention and I couldn't concentrate on my work anymore.
"Yes, he's having a real tough time and I know his hardwork will pay for sure." She nodded at me after letting out a sigh. "Let's go and see the models. I'm done with the file." We both walked out from my cabin to the hall where we were supposed to check upon all the models. There were about forty to fifty models as per my guess waiting for us. We both got ourself comfortable on the chairs set on the stage while the staff started introducing all the models. Diana started checking out their performances and qualifications with some questions. I was just observing everything going on which was fascinating me.
All those models were so elegant and beautiful, especially their confidence was what attracted me. With every passing minutes, my excitement was increasing to learn more and more. I was keeping an eye on the queue of girls when my eyes fell upon a person, the person whom I didn't want to see ever in my life again. I could believe upon my eyes, my heart was in dilemma. Is it really her? Or is it just my illusion?
MELISSA'S POV:
Dress checked, makeup checked, heels checked, hairs checked. Woh! Everything's checked and is fine now and I'm looking perfect or as I feel so. I was praying that everything would go fine all the way as we are supposed to be tested by the heads of the company. Once we were left in the hall, I started calming myself as I was panicking to face the test.
Just as everyone was busy on gossiping and sharing their excitement with each other, the door of the hall opened and there was a pin drop silence in the hall. A fine lady in her thirties entered the room in her formals and her aura was too strong. Just as I was about to turn around, creeks of heel dragged everyone's attention. Curious about the sound, I along with others turned around to see someone entering the hall and wait. Helena!
Is she really Helena? Oh yes, she is. But how come she be here? Oh wait, (she remembers the day on the party of collaboration between Aiden's company and the company she's working in when she thought she saw Helena but she brushed her thoughts thinking it's her illusion.)
That means.... That means I had seen Helena that day. She was on the party and she's here as well, which means she works for this company!
"Next" The announcement brought me back to reality and I gained my senses. It was my turn to walk in front but for some reasons, I was scared. That wasn't because I was afraid of the interview, but I didn't want to go in front of Helena. But I have to, I have to go for it.
After taking a deep breath, I climbed up to the stage and started answering to the question asked by the other lady. I didn't dare to even glance at Helena, I knew I would've destroyed everything out of nervousness. And I was thankful to my almighty, that she didn't ask me much. I got off the stage after three questions being asked. I stood in the corner looking at the way Helena was smiling at other models while they were answering. Did she smile the same way on my turn?
(All those memories from past flashed in front of her eyes; the way Helena used to prioritize her, the way she used to call her best friend, the way she used to tolerate everything. The way she treated Helena, the way she always denied her as her best friend and all those insults and embarrassment. And lastly, the drops of tears she had that day when she found out her man cheating on with her, whom she called her best friend.)
But... Why would she? What good have I done to her? After everything I did with her, do I really deserve even a bit of love from her? Do I even own that right to expect from her?
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Helena had looked upon Melissa while she was answering to the question but she had no emotions in her eyes. Once she got off the stage, she continued the way she did earlier, not even bothering about Melissa staring at her although she could feel continuous gaze from her. Here at the other side, Helena's presence and the changes that had newly formed within Melissa was making her more and more ashamed of herself. The load of shame and guilt was making it hard for her to breathe normally.
Everything was done, every one was busy on their own but Melissa couldn't just hold on. She was on the way to positivity and change, so she didn't want to keep anything in her heart; neither any guilt nor any load. So after a lot of struggle, she finally gathered some courage to talk to Helena and luckily, she found her standing alone.
"Hi." Although Helena was standing with her back turned towards the source, how couldn't she recognize the voice? She was not expecting to listen to that hi but now that she did, she knew she had to face it.
"Hello." replied Helena like she's talking to some stranger.
"Ahh.... umm.. How.. how are you?" Melissa managed to give a forced smile but with the way Helena replied made her heart feel a string of pain. She never expected that she'd one day will be having such conversation with Helena like a stranger.
"I'm all good, hope you're fine too young lady."
"Ahh, I'm quite well." There was a pin drop silence in between them which was making the situation awkward. Helena thought of walking away when Melissa's words stopped her, "I'm sorry Heli."
Her feet stopped on the way as if she was glued while Melissa continued speaking. "I know my sorry wouldn't heal your broken heart and broken trust but I'm really very sorry Heli. I never treated you like a friend and in fact, I'm ashamed of myself for being such a selfish friend at that time."
Helena turned to her giving a bitter smile but she had now become a lot more stronger. "The day I had caught you both was the last day I counted on you both. Ever since then, you don't matter to me. Neither your betrayal bothers to me anymore nor will your sorry. I've moved on, you're no more than a stranger to me now. And there's a reason behind everything that happens. After the sunset, I've got the brightest moon of my life as well. So I don't have anything for you in my heart, neither grudge or anything else."
Melissa was stunned with her answer. She was expecting curses and mockery from her but the way she reacted was too calm to accept.
"Helena! Please come here." Helena didn't wait for a single more second after Diana's call and Melissa couldn't complete her words. This was not the way she wanted things to go. She wanted Helena to shout on her, even destroy everything to vent her anger out but the way she reacted increased the guilt in her heart to the peak.
"I know I'm not worthy, but once in my life I'll surely try to pay for my sins if I get a chance Heli." She made a promise to herself and she never knew the way she'd have to.
