Chapter 12 Getting Rich at the Noodle Stall

Recently, the Xia family's condition was improved.

Although Xia Aijun did not talk much, he was willing to work hard and he pondered a lot. With Xia Wan's accompany, Xia Aijun only ran the noodle stall business a few times before it went smoothly. He was efficient and never served with short weight. Nor was he talkative. The dried noodles were the only delicious and beneficial food at the gate of the hospital. There were already a lot of regular customers, so there was no need to worry about business.

Xia Aijun was selling food for breakfast every morning. In the afternoon, he rested at home and prepared for the noodle stalk business. He ran the stalk everyday no matter the weather is good or bad. The quantity of noodles he sold changed from 20 kilograms and 100 bowls to 50 kilograms 250 bowls now. Although he carried his stuff weighing nearly 50 kilograms every day and his skin was tanned a lot, his hard work was rewarded. There was no competition, and the cost was small. It was in the top position in the county hospital. And he was protected and there were no hooligans and other stall owners harassing and bullying him. The noodle stalk's daily income was several hundred Yuan, which was much better than the unchanged salary from the factory where he worked hard.

Xia Wan knew that this was the first step to getting rich; so she was not proud and complacent, but Xia Aijun and Li Aizhen were very satisfied.

In the evening, after the family finished the meals and washing up, Xia Aijun spread the notes on the old-fashioned peony bedsheets for Li Aizhen to count.

The sheets were scattered with old notes and coins, which were two yuan, one yuan, and five cents.... Li Aizhen distributed the notes in a pile of ten yuan. After a while, she sorted out all the notes and coins and recorded the bills and profits in her old notebook.

It was the latter half of October. The Xia family had been busy with the dried noodles business for a whole month. Li Aizhen looked at the profit figures she counted three times and felt like dreaming.

"How can it be so easy to make this money? One month's income is equivalent to half a year's salary."

Xia Aijun was putting a pile of change into a plastic bag. When he heard this, he shook his head and smiled.

"I don't know how much I earned every day. I just feel that the noodles have been sold out all at once. There shouldn't be so much profit, right?"

He shook the change in the plastic bag in disbelief.

People liked to use plastic bags to store money at that time, and then further put it in their wardrobe. Therefore, there were often searches on the news on such a way to keep money in later generations. The news may read "The 100-dollar bill that an old man had worked so hard to hide was bitten by a mouse, and his painstaking efforts over the years were in vain."

Fortunately, Li Aizhen had a good memory now. In a short while, she took out all the plastic bags hidden at home and poured them into a pile.

All kinds of notes and coins were piled up on the old-fashioned peony bedsheet, which was spectacular.

Xia Wan estimated that the money in front of her should be nearly 10,000. She was satisfied, but she didn't take it seriously. After all, this was just a drop in the ocean if compared with her goal.

Li Aizhen was a little stunned.

"Isn't it safe to keep so much money at home?"

Xia Wan replied immediately,

"It's financially a good way to transfer some idle money to the bank for deposit. The interests accumulated over the years will not be a small sum."

In around 2000, all industries had just emerged. Some well-known financial marketing terms such as "eggs can't be put in the same basket" and "If you don't manage your money, money will walk away from you" had not been popular yet.

When they first heard the idea of saving money in the bank, both Xia Aijun and Li Aizhen doubted confused a bit over it.

Xia Wan explained in detail the method and concept of bank financial management. Now the return for the deposit was relatively high. Compared with hiding the money at home, which was not safe and did bring interest income, the safety, and lucrativeness of depositing it with the bank was very attractive.

Xia Aijun was straightforward and quick-witted. It was easy for him to accept such an idea, so he made a decision.

"Then let's go to the state bank together this Sunday and learn some details. If you want to make a deposit, please deposit 5,000 first. And transfer some money to those in the Northwest by the way."

Xia Aijun was steady and reliable, and he was also the head of the Xia family. Once he had made the decision, Li Aizhen had never objected to it. Although Li Aizhen had not come to her senses yet, she kept the money properly with no objection.

After counting the money, the family of three turned on the TV and watched the TV series.

In this year "The Qin Era" had just been broadcast, and the ups and downs of the plot were very attractive. Xia Wan also sat firmly on the stool and focused on watching TV.

The faint light of the TV shone on her white and tender face, and the corners of her mouth were full of smiles. Her dark eyes were shining. Putting away the maturity and calmness that belonged to an age elder than hers, she looked a little innocent and lovely this time.

Li Aizhen lovingly tidied up the black hair of Xia Wan, which was not entirely dry and spread like ink satin. Then she got up and went to the kitchen to melt the roe milk butter with warm water and gave it to Xia Wan.

In the past few days, Xia Wan had been drinking roe milk every day. The Xia family had made other nourishing food for her, such as yellow eels, loaches, and crucians. In addition, she jogged and exercised every day. So her face and lips became a little ruddy. They no longer looked as light pink as before and were more beautiful and vivid.

Xia Wan quickly finished her roe milk and would like to take the bowl for washing, but Li Aizhen took it. Looking at the pretty face of Xia Wan, she smiled and said,

"It just took 10 days. She looks much stronger."
