Chapter 3 Life-saving Money

Madam Fang had another idea in mind.

Fang Tong regarded Du Yuheng as her treasure. In the past, she didn't allow her to do any work and raised her like a delicate lady. She was unhappy to hear her say a few words about her daughter.

Although she was sick and didn't have much money left, no one knew whether she still had some private money. She couldn't fall out with her before she could coax all her money out.

What's more, Fang Tong was only in her thirties, and the little girl was only 12. Even if she had no money, she could exchange them for money as a concubine and as a maid!

However, it was too troublesome to coax Fang Tong to take out the money now. It was better to end her life...

Du Yuheng washed the dishes. When she was about to go out, Madam Fang was staring gloomily at Fang Tong's room.

Her eyes were filled with the smell of death, which made Du Yuheng suddenly have an idea.

That damned old woman wouldn't be thinking of making a move ahead of time, would she?

Du Yuheng entered the room and told Fang Tong not to drink the medicine brought by the Fang family. Then she ran out quickly with the bamboo basket.

At present, she had to find a way to calm Madam Fang down and let her believe that it was more valuable for her and her mother to live than to die.

Du Yuheng ran all the way through the farmland area near the town and didn't stop until she reached the back mountain.

In the early winter, the rice in the field had been harvested. Every family was busy drying the rice, and the back mountain, which was usually desolate, was even more deserted.

Du Yuheng pretended to search halfway up the mountain for a long time. Seeing that there was no one around, she quickly ran to the foot of the West Mountain.

It was connected to the outer county, so the terrain was steep and difficult to walk. However, Du Yuheng went straight to a strange stone and dug it up.

Sure enough, it didn't take long for her to dig out a bag.

She went to the steepest place in the terrain and dug up a few herbs.

Du Yuheng knew these valuable herbs, which were hard to find and hard to get. It was thanks to the old man. She could take them back tonight to deliver.

After finishing the business, Du Yuheng grabbed a few loquat leaves, picked up a pile of withered grass, and covered the basket. Then she got up and went back to the town.

In the town's Renyi Clinic, the shop assistant was cleaning the counter when a dirty little girl suddenly appeared in front of him.

"You, are you going to see a doctor or get medicine?" The shop assistant was shocked.

Du Yuheng raised a smile and said, "Bro, I need to talk to Dr. Qian. Is Dr. Qian here?"

Dr. Qian came soon. He took the herbs handed over by Du Yuheng and was surprised.

These herbs could only be found at the edge of the cliff of the West Mountain. How did this little girl do it? And how did she recognize herbs?

Du Yuheng wiped the sweat on her forehead, and her face got dirtier. " Dr. Qian, I went to the back mountain to dig wild herbs today. I saw that these herbs looked strange, so I wanted to bring them back to you. My mother has been ill recently..."

She lowered her voice. "I, I don't have money to buy medicine. Do you think these things are worth..."

Dr. Qian breathed a sigh of relief. "That's right!"

If a ten-year-old girl could casually recognize this precious herb, he, as a doctor, might as well give up the job.

"I remember you, the girl from the Fang family at the east end of the town, right? You're lucky today. These are all good things. I'll take them all. Xiao Hai, give her the money."

Dr. Qian handed the money to Du Yuheng and said, "If you still have some herbs, I'll take all of them. If your mother can walk around, I'll give her treatment and save you three doses of medicine money."

Du Yuheng thanked him again and again.

In her last life, she had heard that Dr. Qian was very kind. His medical skills were not very brilliant, but he was kind-hearted. Today, it seemed that he was really good. He even gave a fair price for collecting herbs.

Du Yuheng picked out twenty copper coins from the money given by Dr. Qian, bought two pieces of flatbread, and put them in her arms before going home.

Mr. Fang and his son, Fang Dali, had come back, and both of them were drunk and shouted that they were brothers. Madam Fang and Mrs. Wang were busy making tea for them and washing their feet.

Du Yuheng took the opportunity to sneak into the kitchen. The kitchen was empty as expected, leaving nothing for her.

Du Yuheng smiled and didn't care. The flatbread in her arms was still warm. She hurried into the wing-room and ate the semi-cold tea with Fang Tong.

Then Du Yuheng hid the bag in the basket next to the urinal in the room, and hid the rest of the money she had left today as well.

This was the dirtiest place in the room. Madam Fang and Mrs. Wang would never have thought that there was something hidden here.

In her previous life, there was a person in the town who went to the West Mountain to dig up herbs and accidentally found a bag of silver. That person moved to the countryside with the money. No one knew why there was silver buried in such a remote place. Everyone in the town went to the West Mountain to dig at the time.

But later on, no one discovered any silver. Thus, the source of the money was left unsettled.

In this life, Du Yuheng was one step ahead of her predecessor. Sure enough, she dug out the money that could save her and her mother.

However, the members of the Fang family were all wolves. They couldn't be fed even if she had meat.

Everything had to wait for an opportunity.
