Chapter 10 Got Pregnant

Du Yuheng watched as Hou Si walked away, then suddenly heard a voice.

"Uh-huh!"

The counter was knocked on. Du Yuheng glanced and found that it was Mr. Ye's servant.

Mr. Ye was standing behind him.

"Newcomer, I'm here to get the medicine."

The servant spoke cheekily and stared at Du Yuheng. In response, Du Yuheng shot him a disdainful look and handed over the medicine.

He had no intention of taking it, but it was Mr. Ye who reached out from behind and took it.

What a foolish servant! He'd be dismissed by his master sooner or later.

Du Yuheng continued with his work, but the servant didn't leave.

"The day before yesterday, I saw it."

Du Yuheng was speechless.

Talking nonsense, who knew what you were saying?

"I know the tricks you're playing by coming into this Renyi Clinic. Little girl, you are quite clever, huh?"

Du Yuheng lifted her head, noting that this young servant couldn't be more than fourteen or fifteen years old. Why did he call her a little girl?

"Okay, I see, but you were not the only one who saw it that morning. Take your medicine and be on your way. Don't keep your young master waiting."

"You little girl, Mr. Ye is an esteemed guest of the Renyi Clinic. Watch out, or I'll tell Dr. Qian and his wife your little tricks. How about you tell me your name, age, and where you live, and I'll help you keep your secrets."

Du Yuheng threw down her rag and said. "Esteemed guest, feel free to say whatever you want. I'm just a little girl who can't stop you!"

She couldn't believe this rascal was attempting to threaten her. Where did this libertine come from?

"Ye Xiuan!" Mr. Ye called out, "Let's go!"

The servant waved his hand dismissively and said, "Well, a temperamental one. Is this little girl always that hard to talk to?"

"Ye Xiuan!"

"Xiao Hai!"

Mr. Ye called out again and raised his voice slightly.

Du Yuheng decided to summon Xiao Hai directly to handle this kind of "esteemed guest." It wasn't a responsibility for a newcomer like her.

The servant named Ye Xiuan chuckled and turned to leave alongside Mr. Ye.

The two young lads strolled through the streets, showing no signs of a master-servant relationship.

It wasn't until they turned the corner onto another street that Mr. Ye finally spoke up. "Ye Xiuan, what's gotten you so interested in that young girl?"

"Not much, really," Ye Xiuan replied. "Don't you find her quite clever?"

"Yeah, she's a bit sharper than most. You know, the lady from the Zhao family used to be like that. Why haven't I heard you praise her?"

Ye Xiuan remembered the affected mannerisms of the lady and waved his hand dismissively. "Perhaps this girl intrigued me."

"Then why put on a playboy act to get her attention? She doesn't seem to care about you at all."

Ye Xiuan couldn't help but recall Du Yuheng's flushed angry face from earlier, a touch of charm that had piqued his interest.

"Don't dwell on that for now, Dachen. Help me find out who this girl is."

"All right."

"And the person we encountered earlier, it seemed like there was some hidden meaning in the conversation between that girl and him. Investigate that as well."

Ye Dachen glanced at his partner. This was the first time Ye Xiuan had taken a strong interest in a girl, so he knew he had to investigate thoroughly.

Inside the Renyi Clinic, Du Yuheng was also asking Xiao Hai, "Who were those two?"

"You mean Mr. Ye? He's a guest in our town, been here for a few months. I heard that he lives in the east."

"Didn't they come to get medicine just a couple of days ago? Why are they back today? Mr. Ye doesn't seem like he's seriously ill."

"You're right, Mr. Ye isn't sick. It's that servant who comes for treatment every time. I must say, Mr. Ye is quite an exceptional master. Not only did he personally bring the servant for treatment, but he also asked our physician to buy a lot of valuable medicinal herbs. That young servant must have accumulated a lot of good luck in his previous life."

Xiao Hai expressed his admiration for a couple more sentences before getting back to work. Meanwhile, Du Yuheng couldn't help but ponder in her mind.

Could there be such a good master in the world? Looking at that glib-tongued Ye Xiuan, he didn't seem severely ill either.

That evening, when Du Yuheng returned home, she not only brought back dinner but also secretly took a medical book.

Du Yuheng didn't dare to tell Dr. Qian, so she asked Xiao Hai to help her keep it a secret, saying that she wanted to learn how to treat her mother's illness.

As she stepped into the Fang family's courtyard, the atmosphere inside the main house was unusually lively with chatter and laughter, but the kitchen was icy cold, devoid of any warmth.

Du Yuheng walked into her room and laid out the meal to share with Fang Tong. Today, Fang Tong had already sat up on the bed.

"Mother, why didn't they cook today?"

"Your aunt suddenly had severe morning sickness and called for a physician. They said she was pregnant. Your grandmother, grandfather, and uncle were all delighted. They bought wine and meat to celebrate and nourish your aunt."

There was a hint of joy on Fang Tong's face as well.

After all, they were family, and this was the first child of the next generation in the Fang family. So Fang Tong was happy about it.

Du Yuheng was then reminded that in her previous life, Mrs. Wang had also become pregnant around this time. However, Fang Tong had fallen gravely ill, and she had been toiling day and night. In a few more months, Fang Tong passed away, and she had become even more estranged from the Fang family. Not long after, she had moved to the Du family.

She couldn't remember what had happened to Mrs. Wang's child in her previous life.

Mr. Fang had only one son, Fang Dali, and despite Mrs. Wang being married into the family for so many years, she hadn't given birth to a daughter. So, when she finally got pregnant, the entire family was overjoyed. It's no wonder that neither of the two men from the Fang family had gone out drinking today.

However, as long as they didn't harm Fang Tong, Du Yuheng couldn't care less.

Du Yuheng had no intention of getting involved in their affairs, but it appeared they didn't think so.

"Du Yuheng, you're back! It's a joyful day today. Your uncle bought some braised pork. Hurry, take some for your mother to taste and nourish her body."

Madam Fang said outside.
