Chapter 2 The Black Diamond

The little girl in front of him was not wearing any makeup. She was wearing an ordinary dress and a pair of relatively high-quality pearl earrings.

It was obvious that she was not invited to the banquet.

On such an occasion, Yan Wangshu had seen many people who had sneaked in through various means, whether they wanted to find someone, build connections, or other purposes.

It was the first time that he had seen such a girl like her who acted so frankly and naturally to show "I want to please you". It was not annoying.

He thought, "Maybe it's because her appearance looks like the pure white flower that she arouses people's desire to protect her."

Yan Wangshu glanced at her and asked, "How old are you?"

Wen Ran was stunned by the sudden question. She looked away from the black diamond on his chest and answered, "20 years old."

20 years old?

Too young.

She was still in college.

Yan Wangshu frowned slightly. "You went to college in M Country?"

"No." Wen Ran shook her head and said bluntly, "I haven't been to school."

"She's really straightforward. She doesn't even pretend to be well-educated," Yan Wangshu thought.

All of a sudden, a white light flashed and illuminated Wen Ran's little face.

She seemed to be startled. She tilted her head and looked out of the pavilion. Her small mouth was slightly open, and her eyes blinked several times in a panic.

Then, thunder rumbled, and it began to rain.

The weather had been like this for the past few days.

Wen Ran suddenly stood up. Her slender fingers were still on her chest, which was beating in a panic, but she said in a firm tone, "Wait a minute."

After that, she rushed into the drizzle.

Wen Ran ran to the side hall and took an umbrella.

When she returned to the pavilion, the rain was much heavier than before.

Wen Ran leaned the handle of the umbrella on her thin shoulder. When she waved her hand, her arm was dripping with water. "I'll send you back to the living room."

Yan Wangshu did not refuse.

It was not until he walked toward Wen Ran that she noticed his superior height, which made it a little difficult for her to hold an umbrella. After all, she had been practicing sculpting recently, and her wrist hurt a little.

She grabbed the handle of the umbrella and raised it higher, but it was suddenly snatched away by the man.

Wen Ran raised her head and saw the man's clear jawline and protruding Adam's apple.

"There's no reason for a girl to hold an umbrella," he said as he tilted the umbrella towards her and looked straight ahead.

The stone steps meandered in the flowerbed. It was not wide, and the umbrella was not big.

The man's leg swept across the flower branches, staining his pants, and half of his shoulder was also in the rain.

Wen Ran took the opportunity of her height to look at the brooch on his chest.

A small bird was embedded in the brooch with a fine diamond. The small bird spread its wings and took off, with a black "rock" under its feet.

Wen Ran was sure that this "rock" was a black diamond.

And it was a natural black diamond.

It was between 65 and 68 carats, not clear but it had not been solved.

Black diamonds were rare. In addition, many people thought that black diamonds were ominous and rarely used them as accessories, so black diamonds of such quality on his chest could be called rare.

Wen Ran pursed her lips. She really wanted to touch such a design and cutting technique.

Her hand reacted faster than her brain. She subconsciously raised her arm, but when the man looked down, she instantly sobered up.

Wen Ran realized that she had been rude. She had to get the master's permission first.

Embarrassed, she clenched her fists and retracted her arm, not daring to take the liberty.

The small lamp on the eaves was made of iron, and its wick was modeled after a candle spark, so the light would sway.

The moon in the distance had disappeared in the clouds, and the rain before their eyes was connected into thin lines.

Yan Wangshu put away the umbrella, leaned against the wall, and raised his hand to pat the rain on his right shoulder.

Wen Ran looked at him and said guiltily, "I'm sorry. I should have brought two umbrellas."

"There are two umbrellas?"

Wen Ran was very honest. "Yes."

She didn't need to be honest with him about this kind of harmless scheme.

Perhaps this was her trick?

Yan Wangshu looked at her little face and was not annoyed. He said jokingly, "Remember next time, one umbrella can't cover two people. "

Wen Ran nodded, then took a step forward and said softly, "I just want you to feel that I've helped you."

"Is that so?" Yan Wangshu smiled. "I can feel it, and then?"

Wen Ran was a little close to him. Being stared at from above, she felt a little oppressed.

His hair was a natural linen color. His forehead was plump, his eyebrows were protruding, his eye sockets were deep, and his pupils were a very special light brown color.

Wen Ran thought in her heart that he should be a businessman. Although his tone was not heavy, he had a kind of nature of planning, decision, and natural dominance.

Now his gaze reminded Wen Ran of the hero in a love movie she watched last night.

The hero in the movie was a pure westerner, and his pupils were light brown. He was very affectionate to the girl he loved, but it did not prevent him from being deeply in love with the next girl.

He was elegant, romantic, and affectionate and sentimental. That was probably the kind of expression in his eyes.

According to Zhai Xinyi, he was a playboy, and a top-notch one at that.

All of a sudden, Wen Ran remembered that Zhai Xinyi had warned her to stay away from such a man, or she wouldn't even know how she died.

Wen Ran didn't hesitate and said, "Sir, since you think I've helped you, then I have a presumptuous request..."

Before Wen Ran could finish her words, the glass door was pushed open not far away, and the warm yellow light cut a parallel square on the floor.

Zhai Xinyi poked her head out and waved at Wen Ran. "Come on, Ranran!"

Wen Ran weighed the pros and cons in her heart and walked over. She looked back at the man's chest and said reluctantly, "Please wait for me."

It was not until the glass door closed that Yan Wangshu looked away.

The phone in his bag vibrated. It was a call from Qin Xiao.

Qin Xiao was the assistant of Yan Wangshu. It must be something very important to call him at this time.

After hanging up the phone, a few minutes later, Qin Xiao came over with an umbrella.

The black car stopped at the gate. Yan Wangshu reached out to press down the hem of his clothes and got into the car.

Half of Qin Xiao's body was soaked. Just as Qin Xiao was about to put away the umbrella and sit in the passenger seat, the window suddenly rolled down.

Qin Xiao quickly lifted the umbrella to the window to prevent the rain from getting in.

Yan Wangshu held the black diamond brooch in his hand and pulled it out of the window. His voice mingled in the rain. "Tell Mr. Bai that I had no intention of breaking two jasmines. This is my apology."

Qin Xiao paused for two seconds and reached out to take the brooch.

The car window rolled up at a steady speed, and Yan Wangshu said, "You can go in person."

Zhai Xinyi told Wen Ran that Zhai Chengjing was waiting for her in the studio.

In the studio, Zhai Chengjing was leaning against the back of the chair in a neat suit. In his hand was the draft design of Wen Ran, with a men's ring draft design on it.

The ring was mainly designed in a triangular style and matched with an irregular white and blue jadeite. The colorful artistic conception was like a landscape painting.

Wen Ran trotted over and asked, "Chengjing , what do you think?"

"It's beautiful. I like it very much." Zhai Chengjing nodded and pointed at the ring. "But the ring doesn't need to be smooth. It needs to be ground."

Wen Ran nodded. "Okay, it's settled then?"

"Well, thank you in advance for the birthday gift."

"It's good that you like it." Wen Ran picked up the cudgel and said, "Chengjing, let me measure your size."

When Wen Ran took the measurements of Zhai Chengjing and went downstairs, there were less than half of the people in the reception room.

She walked out of the room.

A lonely umbrella leaned against in the corner of the wall, and the rain flowed along the tip of the umbrella to the garden. The rain was even heavier than before, and jasmines were on the verge of collapse.

That man was gone.

Wen Ran returned to the reception room and strolled around a few more times, unable to hide the disappointment on her face.

After the banquet, Zhai Xinyi went to find Wen Ran in the studio.

She pulled up a chair and sat down. Seeing Wen Ran in a daze, she asked, "What's wrong? Is it broken again?"

Wen Ran shook her head.

Zhai Xinyi asked, "What's wrong with you?"

"I saw a guest wearing a black diamond brooch today. The cut was very special and beautiful."

“...”

"It's a pity that I haven't looked at it carefully."

Zhai Xinyi rolled her eyes and asked, "Is there a bird?"

"You saw it too?" Wen Ran turned around, grabbed Zhai Xinyi by the arm, and asked excitedly, "Isn't it beautiful?"

"Yes, I saw it. I saw my brother holding it when I went to Mr. Bai's studio just now; Mr. Bai also told him to return it."

Wen Ran was stunned and stood up. "I'm going to find my senior brother."

Wen Ran ran to Bai Weiliang Studio and met Zhai Chengjing in the corridor.

She got what she wanted and saw the black diamond.

After a while, she put down the brooch and removed the gloves. "Chengjing, I've finished. This brooch is gorgeous. The design is special, concise but not simple, and the inlay technique is excellent."

Zhai Chengjing said, "Go back and rest after looking at it. I have to return it personally."

Wen Ran sent Zhai Chengjing downstairs.

She looked at the box in the hands of Zhai Chengjing. "Who brought this brooch?"

"Someone from Carlyle sent it over. He said it was an apology for plunking the flowers." Zhai Chengjing paused. "Who would use this to make an apology?"

"'Carlyle,' it sounds familiar."

Zhai Chengjing did not hide his laughter. "It would be strange if you knew her!"

His junior sister was not interested in anything else besides jewelry design. How could she be familiar with the names of domestic jewelry companies?

"Well, it doesn't sound familiar." Wen Ran asked, "Is 'Carlyle' a human name?"

"'Carlyle' is the country's largest jewelry company and has been established for more than 60 years. Its founder is a multinational couple. The name 'Kalaire' is the wife of a Frenchwoman, and the current manager is the couple's grandson. The person invited to the banquet today is Carlyle Company's chief marketing officer, Yan Wangshu. I think this brooch is his sincerity for cooperation."

Yan Wangshu?

It turned out that his name was Yan Wangshu.

Wen Ran remembered that her family teacher had once said in class that Wangshu was the god of driving for the moon in ancient myths. In poetry, it was used to refer to the moon.

"Wangshu, Moon." Wen Ran blinked. "The teacher in charge of the studies of ancient Chinese civilization said so."

Zhai Chengjing smiled and patted Wen Ran on the head.

When a little girl at her age heard what he said just now, she would sigh with emotion about how romantic the company was named with the wife's name.

But she was recalling her homework.

Wen Ran raised her hand and scratched her hair. "So our master asked you to return the brooch because he doesn't intend to cooperate with Carlyle?"

"Yes." Zhai Chengjing opened the box, looked at it for a while, and then closed it again. "Mr. Bai wants to use his brand to enter the domestic market."

Wen Ran roughly understood and didn't ask any more questions.

Zhai Chengjing stopped in his tracks. "Go back and rest. I'll get someone to pick up Xinyi tomorrow afternoon."

"Xinyi can stay here for a few more days."

Zhai Chengjing reminded her, "She has classes the day after tomorrow."

Wen Ran smiled apologetically. "I almost forgot it."

After sending Zhai Chengjing off, Wen Ran returned to the studio to pack her things. When she returned to her room, Zhai Xinyi was lying on the bed with a laptop in her arms.

She looked up and said, "I'm looking for a movie to watch, Ranran."

Wen Ran remembered that the movie she watched last night was good, so she recommended it to Zhai Xinyi.

When Wen Ran finished washing up and went to bed, Zhai Xinyi cried a lot.

Leaning on Wen Ran's shoulder, she was touched by the hero in the movie. "He's so handsome, charming, and loves Jennifer."

Wen Ran couldn't help but reveal, "He will love several more women later."

Zhai Xinyi immediately stopped crying and cursed with a red nose, "Scumbag! Top scumbag!"

Wen Ran was amused by the speed at which her expression changed.

Perhaps it was because of her words that Wen Ran suddenly thought of the handsome face of Yan Wangshu.

There seemed to be a faint, warm, cedary smell lingering on the tip of her nose.

However, there was no warmth in his eyes.

Zhai Xinyi suddenly hugged Wen Ran and interrupted her thoughts.

Wen Ran asked, "What's wrong?"

"I'm heartbroken, Ranran. My boyfriend has been taken away by an angelic bitch."

Zhai Xinyi often broke up with her boyfriend.

As far as Wen Ran knew, she had been out of love four times in the past three years in college. Wen Ran still comforted her. "It's okay. The next one is better and more handsome!"

Zhai Xinyi took out a tissue to wipe her tears.

Wen Ran suddenly remembered. "Angelic bitch, you mean Wu Yunshan?"

Zhai Xinyi stopped crying and nodded. "Right!"

So that's how it was.

No wonder she insisted on dragging her to the banquet.

Zhai Xinyi cursed for a long time. In the end, she was so angry that she fell asleep before the movie was over.

Wen Ran walked to the garden after sending Zhai Xinyi off the next day.

Two jasmine flowers were placed on the table in the pavilion. The branches were already slightly cracked.

Besides the jasmine flowers, there was a matchbox the size of a palm.

The matchbox was highly exquisite. Its four corners had golden patterns, but the black ash cut off the beautiful designs.

It was burnt by the cigarette butt when the man put out the cigarette.

Wen Ran grabbed the matchbox and looked at it. When she pushed it out, she smelled a faint cedary.

It turned out that the cedary she smelt last night came from the matchsticks.

Wen Ran took out a matchstick and tried to light it but failed.

It must have been damped by the rain last night.

Wen Ran took out her mobile phone and searched for the information about this match.

This was a kind of fragrance match. Its function was to make fragrance, not to...make a fire.

And it was so expensive. It was worth about 100 yuan a piece."

Wen Ran put her phone down and threw the matchbox into the trash can beside her. She was surprised to see the pencil at the edge of the pavilion.

She smiled and walked over to pick it up.

"So it's here."
