Chapter 2 Are You An Adult?

Four years ago, in a mountainous area in southwest China.

The rain didn't stop until last night, which lasted five days. This morning, the sun finally showed.

A black off-road vehicle was parked at the entrance of Hongfeng Village.

Mu Jingpei opened the passenger door and threw his bag in. The three women behind him were looking at him with reluctance.

"Brother Mu, this is the flatbread we made for you. You can eat it on the way."

Mu Jingpei took it with a smile, put it in the passenger seat with his bag, and said, "Thank you."

His voice was low and pleasant, and the three girls blushed.

After seeing such a handsome man, how could they think much of the young men in the village in the future.

A middle-aged woman walked over in a flustered and exasperated manner. She broke the atmosphere and asked, "Did you see Aixi?"

The three shook their heads.

When the middle-aged woman saw Mu Jingpei, she put on a flattering smile and said, "Mr. Mu, are you leaving?"

Mu Jingpei replied with a faint "hmm".

"I don't know where this girl slacked off, and she didn't make breakfast." The middle-aged woman continued to look for her. "If I find her, I must teach her a lesson. Chen Aixi! Chen Aixi!"

After the woman who broke the atmosphere walked away, the three girls continued to look at Mu Jingpei.

One of them asked him to stay and said, "Brother Mu, it's very likely to rain later. It's not safe on the road. Would you like to stay for a few more days?"

Mu Jingpei said, "No."

He came to the village with his friends to shoot a video. He left one day later than his friends. But it rained heavily. He had been trapped in the village for five days, and the rain finally stopped.

Mu Jingpei sat in the driver's seat and starting the car. Mu Jingpei rolled down the window, revealing his well-defined face. His high nose bridge was particularly eye-catching. And the two buttons of his black shirt were open, which made him look elegant and casual. As he spoke, his Adam's apple bobbed slightly. "I'm leaving. Thank you for taking care of me these days."

"Goodbye, Brother Mu. Come back and see us if you have a chance!"

The three girls looked at the car getting farther and farther away, and their eyes were full of affection. They wished they could send him to Shanghai. They didn't look away until the car was out of sight. Then the three of them began to argue about who he smiled at finally.

After the rain, the air in the mountain was particularly fresh. The leaves were green and tender, and there were crystal drops of water on them.

The cool mountain breeze poured into the car, making people feel comfortable, and Mu Jingpei was in a good mood.

He casually glanced at the rearview mirror in the car and suddenly saw a person with disheveled hair in the back seat. He was so scared that he shivered and cursed. The car uncontrollably crashed into a tree next to him.

"What the hell!"

He came to his senses and immediately slammed on the brakes.

The car suddenly stopped, and there was only a little distance between the front of the car and the trunk.

It was impossible for ghosts to feel pain when they hit their heads.

Mu Jingpei looked back carefully and found that it was a little girl.

Wasn't this Chen Aixi? Her aunt was looking for her just now.

The little girl was from Hongfeng Village. He had seen her a few times. Because her name was very special, he remembered her.

After calming down, Mu Jingpei asked grumpily, "Why are you in my car?" He didn't even know when she got in his car.

Aixi rubbed her head and said softly, "I came into the car last night."

Mu Jingpei came to the car to fetch something last night and didn't notice that she had slipped into the car.

Unexpectedly, she had been hiding in the car all night.

Mu Jingpei just thought that she was a playful child, so he said, "Don't hide in the car alone anymore. It's dangerous. Why didn't you say anything when your aunt looked for you just now?"

Seeing the little girl slowly lower her eyes, Mu Jingpei couldn't bear to teach her a lesson.

Forget it.

"We're not far from Hongfeng Village. Get out of the car and go back. I'm leaving."

Aixi said in a low voice, "I won't get out of the car." Her mandarin had a little local accent, which sounded very cute.

Mu Jingpei treated her like a child. He teased her and asked, "Why don't you get out of the car? Do you want to go with me?"

Unexpectedly, she nodded.

Aixi looked into his eyes and said, "I'm going to Shanghai with you."

Would she go to Shanghai with him? Mu Jingpei was a little surprised.

The little girl knew everything very well.

He asked, "What are you going to do in Shanghai?"

Aixi took out a wrinkled business card with a few drops of oil on it and handed it to him from the gap between the driver's seat and the passenger's seat.

Mu Jingpei took it and looked at it.

Xie Jun is written on the card, who was really from Shanghai.

"Is it your relative?" He held the business card between his index and middle fingers and handed it back.

Aixi shook her head. "He... he is..."

A rich young man like Mu Jingpei had seen all kinds of women. He could see through an innocent little girl like Aixi at a glance..

Aixi was about to take the business card back. But he moved his fingers which were holding the business card, and Aixi grabbed nothing. Then he tapped the tip of her delicate nose with the business card and asked with amusement, "You miss men at such a young age? Little sister, are you an adult?"

Aixi had only seen a few men in her life, and it was the first time she had seen such a handsome man and also like hooligan. How could she resist? Her face instantly turned red, and she felt as if a feather had brushed the tip of her nose.

She said angrily, "I'm 18 years old! Give me back my business card!"

Mu Jingpei loosened his fingers and let her take back the business card. Then he turned around and lazily put one hand on the steering wheel to look at her again.

She was very thin and small, especially in an old T-shirt that didn't fit her. She looked flat from the beginning to the end. Except for her delicate little face, she had almost no characteristics of an adult woman. He had thought that she was not an adult.

"Xie Jun came to see my dad. He gave me this business card when he left. He said I could go to find him," Aixi said.

"Isn't your home here? Shanghai is far away from here. It will take you a long time to come back, at least half a year." Mu Jingpei talked exaggeratedly.

Aixi was surprised at first, and then she was a little suspicious. "Is it really that far?"

Mu Jingpei lied to her without batting an eyelid. "Yes."

"But this is not my home. I don't want to stay here." Aixi paused slightly and lowered her eyes to hide her sadness. "Last year, at this time, my parents died of mountain torrent. After that, I lived with my uncle and aunt. They took away the savings left by my parents and said that they wanted to give to my cousin for getting married. They also asked me to work all day, beat me and scolded me. I didn't even have enough to eat."

During the filming nearby, Mu Jingpei lived in the fellow-townsman's family of Hongfeng Village and had seen Aixi being scolded several times. While others were playing, she was working.

She was so thin, but all she did was work with physical strength.

At that time, a friend of his said that the little girl was very pitiful.

Mu Jingpei didn't have a good impression of her uncle and aunt. Her uncle and aunt were enthusiastic towards Mu Jingpei and his friends. They were greedy in their eyes when they saw that Mu Jingpei and his friends were rich. So he igored her aunt at the village entrance just now.

"What's wrong with your arm?" Mu Jingpei looked at Aixi and asked.

He noticed it when she reached out to grab the business card.

The dark red scar on her slender arm was particularly eye-catching.
