Chapter 3 Small Trouble

Aixi looked down at her arm and said indifferently, "I didn't wash clothes thoroughly the day before yesterday and was pushed by my uncle."

It sounded as if she was talking about something very ordinary.

Mu Jingpei was a little soft-hearted.

But reasonably, he couldn't do that. If her uncle and aunt called the police, he would become a human trafficker. Moreover, her business card was so old. What if she couldn't find Xie Jun in Shanghai and got him involved?

Mu Jingpei still wanted to persuade her to go back. "What about your school? Won't you go to school?"

She should still be studying at this age.

Aixi shook her head. "I didn't go to school last year. My uncle and aunt said it was a waste of money. So they didn't allow me to go to school."

For a moment, Mu Jingpei didn't know what to say.

She should have been carefree at this age, and her most annoying thing should have been her studies. However, she had been forced to drop out of school, do heavy housework, and be beaten and scolded.

All of a sudden, Aixi became nervous and her whole body trembled. "I seem to have heard my aunt's voice again! And uncle's."

Mu Jingpei looked around and found that someone was really coming.

"If I am taken back by them, I will never have a chance to go to Shanghai again!" Aixi was sitting on pins and needles. She patted the back of the driver's seat and was about to cry. "Hurry up!"

"Please!"

"Let's go!"

Mu Jingpei became nervous because of her.

By the time he realized what he was doing, he had already reversed the car and stepped on the accelerator.

The car was very bumpy on the muddy country road. The tires rolled over the puddles, splashing mud and water. The car was dirty instantly.

It was getting farther and farther away from Hongfeng Village. After making sure that no one was catching up with them, Aixi sighed and collapsed in the back seat.

From the rearview mirror, she saw that Mu Jingpei had an unfathomable expression on his face. She comforted him and said, "You're doing a good thing. Don't be so unhappy."

In fact, Mu Jingpei was not unhappy. He was just wondering why he had driven just now. It would be best if her uncle and aunt found her and brought her back.

He glanced at Aixi through the rearview mirror and their eyes met. Her clear eyes were so bright that they made his heart tremble, as if a beam of light had shot in.

Bright and silly smile was on Aixi's face. "Good people will be rewarded."

Mu Jingpei was speechless. In this era, nobody says such words.

He was afraid of trouble, so he decided to find an opportunity to leave this little trouble behind on the way back.

He could give her some money to continue her studies.

Aixi felt her stomach growling.

"Are you hungry?" Mu Jingpei asked.

Aixi blushed and nodded.

"If you're hungry, go back."

"I'm not hungry anymore."

"You'd rather be hungry than go back, right?"

Aixi didn't say anything, and her little face was full of stubbornness.

"You have a lot of backbone."

Seeing that the little girl was hungry, Mu Jingpei handed her a red plastic bag of cakes. "Eat."

Aixi was delighted. She opened the plastic bag, looked at it, and said, "This is a pancake made by Xiao Hong."

Mu Jingpei recalled that the girl who brought him the pancake seemed to be called Xiao Hong.

"You know that?" His tone sounded like he was teasing a child.

"The pancakes made by Sister Xiao Hong are the best in the village, but she doesn't often make them. She said that she would make them for the people she likes in the future," Aixi said as she ate. "Will you come back to marry Sister Xiao Hong?"

Mu Jingpei raised his eyebrows. "Why should I marry her?"

Aixi naturally said, "You've already accepted her pancake!"

"There have been eight or nine women who sent me pancake these days. According to what you said, am I going to marry them all?" Mu Jingpei turned the steering wheel, and the casualness between his eyebrows made him look like a frivolous young master.

Aixi was shocked by this fact.

There were only eight or nine unmarried women of the right age in their village! Did they all take a fancy to him?

Mu Jingpei continued, "If I tell you now that only my wife can take my car, will you get out of the car or marry me?"

Aixi was stunned. She blushed for a long time and said angrily, "You liar!"

The little girl's words were quite interesting.

Mu Jingpei was amused by her old-fashioned and silly words. He said in a low and pleasant voice with a smile, "Let me teach you a new word. A love liar who is male can be called a 'scumbag'."

He didn't know that from this moment on, he was labeled as a "scumbag" by Aixi.

**

Aixi was so nervous that she almost couldn't close her eyes for a night while hiding in the car of Mu Jingpei. After eating the pancake, she yawned a few times, struggled for a while, and lay down to sleep.

Mu Jingpei looked at Aixi who curled up in the back seat from the rearview mirror. She was thin and slender. She was facing forward with her palms crossed under her ears. Her face was so small that it was only as big as the size of a palm. And the tip of her nose was straight. Her brows were slightly knitted, showing her uneasiness.

She was quite a beautiful little girl.

According to the experience of Mu Jingpei, real beauties lay in their bones, so he could tell that Aixi would be very beautiful when she grew up from malnourished.

After the rain, it was really not easy to drive on the muddy mountain road. If you were not careful, the tires would slip and could not get out. This area was remote and backward, and there was often no signal. Don't even think about calling the crane. There was no one around, and it was impossible to find someone to help.

Mu Jingpei was eager to go back to Shanghai, so it was impossible for him to turn around and spend time to send Chen Aixi back.

He had been looking for a suitable place to leave her along the way, but he had not found it yet. There might be snakes in the trees nearby, but there was no one around, which was not suitable. Moreover, she slept so soundly that he couldn't bear to disturb her.

It was delayed until noon.

The car stopped outside a small restaurant in a town. Mu Jingpei got out of the car and opened the door of the back seat. "Wake up, get out."

Aixi opened her eyes blankly. A few seconds later, she came to her senses and refused, "I won't get out of the car."

Seeing that she would not get out of the car no matter what, as if she wanted to stay in the car forever, Mu Jingpei explained grumpily, "Come down for lunch."

Aixi hesitated for a moment, slowly got out of the car, and followed him closely like his little tail.

There were not many people in this town. There was only one restaurant, which was very simple and crude. There were only a few plastic tables and chairs. The ground was still wet and damp, and unknown insects flashed in front of them from time to time.

Originally, Mu Jingpei would not come to such a place, but after living in Hongfeng Village for so many days, he felt that the conditions here were much better. As expected, a comparison was necessary.

Aixi looked at Mu Jingpei, who was out of tune with the environment, and said, "I haven't asked your name yet. I heard them call you 'Brother Mu'. Is your surname Mu?"

"I'm Mu Jingpei."

Aixi nodded and repeated the name several times in her heart. Then she said, "I don't have money, Mu Jingpei. Can I owe you money on the way? I'll pay you back when I arrive in Shanghai."
