Chapter 7 Zhou Mu and His Master

"It's Master."

Zhang Yiming said indifferently from outside the door.

Zhou Mu, upon hearing that it was his master, frowned slightly. Why was he here at this time? Had he discovered something?

He stood up, walked to the door, and opened it.

"Master, what brings you to Cloud City?"

Zhou Mu's tone carried a hint of probing.

Zhang Yiming raised an eyebrow, "What? Can't your master come?"

Seeing his master's displeasure, Zhou Mu lowered his head respectfully and said, "Of course, Master is always welcome. It's just that when Master visits Cloud City, you could give your disciple a heads-up, and I would have gladly gone to the airport to pick you up."

"No need for that."

Zhang Yiming pushed past Zhou Mu, who was blocking the doorway, and entered the room.

Seeing the ritual items in the room, he asked, "How much longer can that child live?"

"If there are no interruptions, it should take about another year for the child to succumb to excess Yin energy."

Zhou Mu replied with a smile.

Zhang Yiming's lips curled into a faint smile. "That's good. The sooner they die, the sooner we can receive the final payment from our client."

Zhou Mu nodded deferentially. "As Master say."

Then, he cautiously inquired, "Master, what brought you to Cloud City all of a sudden? Is there something you need me to do?"

"Hmm..."

Zhang Yiming responded and continued, "You don't need to worry about my affairs. Just keep an eye on the child from the Xue family. Now, it's getting late. I'll go rest upstairs, and you should get some rest too."

Without waiting for Zhou Mu to respond, Zhang Yiming left the room.

Crafty old fox!

Zhou Mu cursed silently and carefully put away a small wooden figurine on the table before following his master out of the room.

...

The next morning, Luo Qiqi got up early, put on her Taoist priest frock, grabbed her peach wood sword, and left her room with Da Hua trailing behind.

She glanced at the closed door of the adjacent room, worried that she might wake up Xue Zhan, so she tiptoed down the stairs.

Mrs. Tian saw Luo Qiqi coming down and approached her with respect, "Miss Qiqi, why are you up so early? What are you planning to do?"

Luo Qiqi placed her peach wood sword behind her back and, imitating her master's demeanor, replied earnestly, "The plan for the day begins in the morning. Baby needs to practice."

Mrs. Tian couldn't help but chuckle at her soft and gentle voice, but she still exaggeratedly said, "Oh my, Miss Luo Qiqi is so diligent. I'll call you for breakfast later."

Hearing the mention of breakfast, Qiqi baby couldn't help but smile broadly and gestured to Mrs. Tian, "Mrs. Tian, Luo Qiqi wants five pork buns for breakfast!"

Mrs. Tian nodded with a smile, "Alright! Mrs. Tian will prepare five pork buns for Miss Qiqi!"

During their conversation, Da Hua circled around Mrs. Tian, only leaving when Luo Qiqi headed outside.

Luo Qiqi found a flat area in the garden and began practicing with her peach wood sword.

Da Hua squatted nearby, occasionally glancing towards the villa.

When Luo Qiqi turned her head and noticed Da Hua looking at the villa, she asked curiously, "Da Hua, what are you looking at?"

"Baby, when Da Hua passed by Mrs. Tian earlier, I smelled some ghostly aura around her, but when I sniffed more carefully, it disappeared. I don't know what's going on,"

Da Hua shared his discovery.

Hearing Da Hua's words, Luo Qiqi stopped her sword practice, turned around, and was about to rush towards the villa. Fortunately, Da Hua reacted quickly and bit onto the hem of Luo Qiqi's Taoist priest frock, preventing Qiqi baby from acting recklessly.

Luo Qiqi lowered her head, displeased, "Da Hua, why did you stop Qiqi baby?"

Da Hua sighed with understanding and tried to persuade, "We can't stir up trouble unnecessarily. We need to follow the trail and investigate discreetly to find the person behind this."

Luo Qiqi pouted and said, "Da Hua, could you please stop speaking in riddles like Lion Master? Luo Qiqi can't understand a word you're saying!"

At that moment, Luo Qiqi regretted not paying more attention when her Lion Master taught her.

Uh...

"Um... I mean... that is... yeah..." Da Hua struggled to express itself.

"Beep beep beep!"

Just then, a car horn honked loudly from outside, interrupting their conversation.

"Wow! What a beautiful car!"

Luo Qiqi exclaimed with excitement and ran towards the gate, completely forgetting about their demon-hunting mission.
