In the meantime, in the villa's courtyard, a servant quickly opened the gate, allowing a black Rolls-Royce Phantom to enter.
Once the car had parked, the head butler, Zhang Fu, stepped out and respectfully opened the car door to assist the passenger.
Xue Zhongze stepped out of the car. Just as he was getting his balance, the servant who had opened the door respectfully called out, "Old Master!"
Xue Zhongze's expression remained stoic as he asked, "Has the young master woken up?"
Before the servant could respond, a childish voice chimed in, "Grandpa, Zhan babe is still sleeping!"
Xue Zhongze looked in the direction of the voice and saw a little girl dressed in a Taoist priest frock, mimicking a conversation with him. He recalled the phone call he had received yesterday about this child and asked, "Are you the little one who returned with my grandson yesterday?"
Luo Qiqi pouted again, "I'm not a little girl. My name is..."
Before Luo Qiqi could finish her words, Xue Mingqi, accompanied by his wife and son, rushed over, cutting off her self-introduction.
"Dad! Why do you come so early!"
Xue Mingqi greeted his father with a smile, holding onto his arm.
Xue Zhongze paid no attention to his son's question and pointed at the little girl. "Yesterday, you mentioned that this little one saved my grandson!"
"That's right! Our son escaped from pursuers but got bitten by a poisonous snake. It was Luo Qiqi who saved him and even cured the snakebite."
Xue Zhan explained truthfully.
"A little girl like this knows medicine?"
Xue Zhongze squinted his eyes slightly, clearly skeptical.
Could this little girl be involved in harming my grandson and deliberately sent here?
The Xue family was one of the top four families in Cloud City, with vast interests in various fields. Xue Zhan was the most beloved grandson of Xue Zhongze, and there were likely many people who coveted his position. Thus, it was normal for Xue Zhongze to have such suspicions.
After a moment of contemplation, Xue Zhan replied, "I don't know if she knows medicine, but when my grandson woke up, the snakebite had already been treated, and there was an herbal poultice on his leg."
Ignoring his grandson's words, Xue Zhongze turned his attention back to the little girl, "Who taught you these medical skills?"
Luo Qiqi was startled by the sudden approach of Xue Zhongze and took two steps back, looking up at him with big eyes, seeming on the verge of tears. But she still answered obediently.
"It was... it was Luo Qiqi's Master, Lion Master."
"And who is your master?"
Xue Zhongze advanced a couple of steps closer, pressuring her with his presence.
Xue Mingqi tugged at Old Master's sleeve, "Dad, don't look so serious. You'll scare her."
Luo Qiqi couldn't help crying out, "The grandpa is so fierce! They're as fierce as Lion Master when they scold Luo Qiqi."
Seeing the tears welling up in Qiqi baby's eyes, Xue Zhan hurriedly approached her and patted her back gently, whispering comfortingly, "Don't be scared, Luo Qiqi! My grandpa isn't fierce."
Luo Qiqi, sniffling, replied with quivering lips, "Zhan babe, you're wrong! This Mr. Tiger is scarier than Qiqi's Lion Master. Waaah..."
"Mr. Tiger!"
Xue Zhongze, his beard bristling, asked irritably, "Am I really that frightening?"
"Waaah... yes!"
Luo Qiqi nodded earnestly and hid behind Xue Zhan, her big watery eyes fixed on Xue Zhongze.
Worried that she might be traumatized, Zhang Meiting reached out and picked up Luo Qiqi, saying, "Dad, let me take the little one back to change her clothes. We'll have breakfast later."
"Hmph!"
Xue Zhongze snorted coldly.
Seeing that her father-in-law didn't object, Zhang Meiting quickly carried Luo Qiqi away. Xue Zhan followed, intending to comfort Qiqi baby later.
Xue Zhongze signaled the butler to take the others away. Once only father and son remained, Xue Zhongze lowered his voice and said, "Mingqi, I have a feeling that this suddenly appearing child is not as simple as she seems."
Xue Mingqi shook his head helplessly. "Dad, are you overthinking it? Who would send such a little girl who can't even distinguish 'left' from 'right'?"
Xue Zhongze remained firm in his suspicions. "It's better to be cautious. She's going back to the Taoist temple, right? When the time comes, you should go with her and see if her master has any ulterior motives."
"Yes, father."
This time, Xue Mingqi didn't argue with his father's opinion and simply nodded.
After chatting for a few more minutes, Xue Zhongze decided to leave.
"Dad, why don't you have breakfast here before going back to the old mansion?"
Xue Mingqi tried to persuade him.
"No, I've made plans to have morning tea with those old fellows later. I'll head back once I'm sure Zhan is alright."
Xue Zhongze refused.
Knowing that his father had important matters to attend to, Xue Mingqi didn't insist further. He watched Old Master leave and then returned to the villa.
Meanwhile, not far away, Mrs. Tian silently retreated to her room after seeing Old Master depart.
