Chapter 15 Being Tracked

The idle people in the conference room sneezed all of a sudden.

Gu Cheng rubbed his nose and the phone screen on the table lit up.

He could hear a few parts of the quarrel going on.

He rubbed his eyebrows impatiently, took the phone, and unlocked the screen.

Gu Moning: [Thank you, dear brother.]

A rare smile appeared on his face as he replied proudly, [Okay.]

Gu Moning put away her phone and frowned slightly. She was keenly aware that something was wrong.

She subconsciously looked back.

Behind her was a middle-aged couple. There were two or three pedestrians across the street, as well as cars whistling by from time to time.

There was nothing unusual.

"Am I hallucinating?"

Or did she not wake up?

Gu Moning shook her head, thinking that she might have been too sensitive.

She turned her head, pressed down the brim of her hat, tidied up her clothes, and continued to walk forward.

When she arrived at the restaurant of river snails rice noodle, she happily finished eating and touched her round belly with satisfaction.

When she came out of the restaurant, it was already half past ten in the evening.

On the way back, Gu Moning chose to walk to help digestion.

The originally small street appeared particularly empty, with the exception of the occasional sound of steam whistles.

She couldn't even see a shadow around her.

The street lamps were dim and yellow, reflecting on the leaves, and mottled reflections showed on the ground. The shadows on the ground were sometimes long and sometimes short.

The plants on the green belt by the road had withered, leaving only branches. With a cool breeze blowing, the branches swayed and the leaves rustled.

Gu Moning couldn't help shivering.

Suddenly, there was a sound of footsteps behind her, as if someone was walking toward her.

She looked back.

It was empty. There was nothing.

She frowned and muttered to herself, "Did I hear it wrong?" No way.

Although she said so, she was still a little suspicious.

It could be said that it was an illusion if it appeared only once.

But this was the second time.

Turning around, Gu Moning subconsciously quickened her pace, and footsteps sounded behind her again.

When she walked slowly, the footsteps became slow, but when she walked faster, the footsteps became fast.

After testing a few times, she was sure.

Someone was tracking her.

Gu Moning held her breath, and her heart skipped a beat. She bit her lip, took a deep breath, and calmed down.

"Calm down, Gu Moning. Don't panic." Her voice trembled slightly.

She kept telling herself to calm down and not to be afraid.

But her body couldn't help trembling, and beads of sweat even appeared on her forehead.

Gu Moning took out her phone, tapped on the screen with her trembling hand, and then put it to her ear.

"Hello, honey."

The voice was so loud that it was deliberately easy to be heard by the people behind her.

"I'm almost there. I'll be back soon."

"What? Don't move?"

Gu Moning stopped, and so did the footsteps behind her.

"Are you coming to pick me up?" She tried her best to raise her voice.

But if one listened to her carefully, one could still hear the slight tremor in her voice.

"Okay, okay, honey, I'll send you the location."

Gu Moning stood under the street lamp, facing the road with her mobile phone.

The screen of the mobile phone showed the document transmission assistant on WeChat.

She didn't call anyone just now, and what she said on the phone was just a cover.

She just wanted to make sure that there was really someone following her.

She tapped twice on the phone and saw a black shadow in the green belt not far behind her.

When she was sure that someone was following her.

Gu Moning felt her heart skip a beat and she swallowed nervously.

She held her breath and tried her best to look calm.

She calmly turned around and took a few more steps forward. As she walked, she looked around and said, "My husband should be here soon."

Just as the person behind her relaxed his vigilance, Gu Moning grabbed her phone tightly and ran as fast as she could.

At this time, she began to feel lucky that she had been working out all the time.

The person behind her quickened his pace and caught up with her.

All of a sudden, she felt her wrist tighten, and her heart skipped a beat.

Then, a force pulled her into a dark corner.

"Ah... Help... Ah."

In the dark, Gu Moning was pressed against the wall by the man. She was born a little blind at night, and now she couldn't see anything. Her hands kept digging the person's hands which were covering her mouth.

Her vision was hindered in the darkness, and other senses in her body were gradually magnified. Phobias and fear quickly spread.

She was so scared that her eyes turned red. Tears welled up in her eyes as she struggled desperately.

The man grabbed her wrist and put it behind her back.

"Moning, it's me." The man's deep and sexy voice sounded in her ear in the dark.

Gu Moning paused. It was a familiar voice.

It was... Lu Yi.

At this moment, half of the fear in her heart dissipated in an instant, and it was replaced by grievance.

She pouted and felt a lump in her throat. Tears rolled down her cheeks and ran down the back of his hand.

The warm touch made Lu Yi's heart skip a beat. He put down his hand that was covering her mouth and held her face with distress.

There were crystal-clear tears on her face.

Her eyes were red and her body was trembling slightly. It was obvious that she was frightened.

Lu Yi had never seen her like this. For a moment, his heart ached. He gently rubbed her cheek with his fingers, lowered his head, and kissed the tears at the corners of her eyes. He asked softly, "Why are you crying?"

If he hadn't asked, it would have been fine. But when he asked, the psychological defense Gu Moning had just built collapsed at this moment.

She threw herself into his arms and buried her head in his chest, sobbing.

"You scared me to death. You really scared me to death." She pounded his back again and again with her fist.

He knew that she was timid, but he didn't expect her to be so timid.

He wrapped his arms around her slender waist and rested his chin on her shoulder. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry."

"Good girl, it's okay now." Patting her back gently, he coaxed her in a soft voice.

He tightened his arms and kissed the top of her head, trying to comfort her. "Don't be afraid. I'm here."

"You scared me to death just now." Gu Moning kept sobbing in his arms.

"I was wrong. I was wrong. It's my fault. It's all my fault." Lu Yi felt distressed and tightened his grip on her arm.

He buried his head in her neck and kissed her neck with his warm lips. "Don't cry, okay?"

After an unknown period of time, the woman in his arms finally calmed down.

Gu Moning wiped her face, raised her head from his arms, and wrinkled the tip of her nose in embarrassment.

"Why are you here?" Her voice, which had just been broken from crying, was hoarse.

"When I passed by, I happened to see a greedy cat eating secretly and heading home."

Gu Moning cried so hard that she didn't get his meaning. "Greedy cat?"

Lu Yi laughed in a low voice and stroked the tip of her nose with his fingers. "This one in front of me."

She came to her senses and stared at him with her big wet eyes. "So, it was you who were following me all the time?"

Lu Yi raised his eyebrows slightly and answered vaguely.

He did not deny that he was following her.

But he was not the only one following her.

His gaze fell on her tear-stained face without any makeup. She had just licked her lips with the tip of her tongue, and they were dripping with water.

Lu Yi swallowed hard, and his eyes were full of desire.

He bent down to pick up the baseball cap on the ground, patted the dust and put it on her head. And then he pulled up the hat on her hoodie, put it on her baseball cap, raised her chin, and kissed her gently.

As soon as he touched he let her go.

This kiss was different from any of the previous ones. It was not bossy, nor was it aggressive.

On the contrary, this light kiss stunned Gu Moning in an instant.

Her emotions were swept away, and a strange numbness spread from the bottom of her heart.

"What's wrong? Your face is so red." Lu Yi looked at her flushed face and couldn't help teasing her.

The kitten was really cute.

Gu Moning covered her face with her hands, puffed up her cheeks, and said angrily, "You bastard! We're outside. What if we're photographed."

Lu Yi's hand holding her waist began to be dishonest and pinched her waist.

"Mrs. Lu, do you mean that we can do it when we go back?"

He bit her earlobe gently, giving her a strong hint.

How could she not understand what this man meant.

Lu Yi looked cold and restrained on the surface, like a monk who didn't get close to women, but only Gu Moning knew that he was actually very coquettish.

Gu Moning shrank back and rolled her eyes at him grumpily. She put her hand against his chest and leaned back tactically.

Her face was as red as an apple.

This man.

His seriousness only lasted for three seconds.

"What are you talking about?"

"Pervert." She lowered the brim of her cap, lowered her head, covered her face, and ran forward.

She was like a hamster running around.

There was no one in his arms.

Looking at her back in a panic, Lu Yi couldn't help smiling, and his eyes were full of doting smiles.

He strode after her. "Let's go together."

His tone also rose along with his mood.

"Who wants to go with you? Stay away from me."

"You go your way, I'll go with mine."

"Lu Yi... let go of me. I warn you not to touch me."

"You threw yourself into my arms first."

"Shut up. You're not allowed to say anything."

"Are you shy?"

"What's there to be shy about? Shut up."

"Then why is your face so red."

"There's something wrong with your eyes."

"Some one not only likes to eat stinky food, but also becomes shy and likes to cry after a few words."

"You... why don't you go to die."

"I don't want you to become a widow at such a young age."

"When did you become so talkative."

"Guess."

“…”

Under the light of the street lamps, their figures overlapped. Even though they bickered with each other, they looked extremely warm and harmonious.

In the dark, an extended camera was aimed at them.

In a van parked on the side of the road, a slightly fat man in casual clothes and a cap, who was sitting in the passenger seat, shouted excitedly at his companion beside him.

"What the f*ck. Is this man Lu Yi? Who wants to pinch me to let me know if I'm dreaming."

Another man with a camera poked his elbow with his finger and asked, "By the way, who is that woman?"

"It doesn't matter who she is. The important thing is that the man is Lu Yi."

"I can already imagine how the server of Weibo will be paralyzed tomorrow."
