Shen Nianshu walked at the door and saw that it was a wild cat.
Under the moonlight, she clearly saw the silhouette of a wild cat. The cat was thin, with mottled fur, and a pair of green eyes that shone alertly and deeply in the night. It seemed to have just sprung out of a corner, and was now squatting not far from her, staring at her with its bright eyes.
Shen Nianshu's heart moved, and she approached softly, fearing to disturb the visitors at night.
Under the moonlight, she could see that every hair on the cat's body looked so vivid, as if each hair was telling its own story.
She slowly stretched out her hand, wanting to touch the soft fur, but the cat jumped up quickly and disappeared into the night.
Shen Nianshu smiled and shook her head, but she couldn't help feeling a little envious of the mystery and freedom of this wild cat.
So good!
It turned out to be a false alarm. Since nothing happened, Shen Nianshu went back to her room and lay down.
Late at night, in Shen Nianshu's room, the moonlight poured in through the half-open window and shone mottledly on the carvings at the head of the bed.
She was lying on the bed, her eyes closed, but her thoughts were tangled in confusion.
Tonight's wildcat, those green eyes, seems to indicate something.
She thought of what happened one after another in recent days.
A clear tear fell from the corner of Shen Nianshu's eyes. It was so difficult and tiring. Her heart was full of fear and confusion.
Even now, she doesn't know who exactly wants to harm her. This unknown made her even more uneasy in the darkness.
The next day, all three of them woke up early.
The sunlight filtered through the delicate window lattice and shone dappledly on Shen Nianshu's face, waking her up from her deep sleep.
She rubbed her groggy eyes and looked at the bright sky outside the window. The haze in her heart was temporarily dispelled.
Shen Nianshu stood up and was about to wash up when she heard a noise coming from outside the door.
She frowned slightly and walked out of the room, only to see Pearl standing in the yard with red eyes, looking aggrieved.
"Pearl, what's wrong?" Shen Nianshu asked softly.
Pearl turned around and saw Shen Nianshu, and the tears in her eyes couldn't stop falling. She pointed to the food on the table and said in a choked voice, "Miss, look at them, are they bullying us? Three people only gave this little."
Shen Nianshu looked in the direction of Pearl's finger and saw only one steamed bun and a bowl of thin porridge on the table.
The steamed buns were already hard and had obviously been left out for a long time, and the bowl of porridge was even more pitiful. It was almost just a few sips of water, and you couldn't even see the grains of rice.
She frowned, anger welling up in her heart.
This was obviously a deliberate attempt to make things difficult. They bullied a weak woman like her, and they really bullied her to the extreme. A trace of determination flashed in Shen Nianshu's eyes. She could not let Zhenzhu, Caiwei and herself suffer such injustice.
"Stop!" Shen Nianshu yelled angrily.
One of them snorted coldly, glanced at it, and said disdainfully, "Why are you so arrogant? A down-and-out phoenix is worse than a chicken. Once you get in here, don't even think about getting out~"
"What's the meaning?"
Shen Nianshu's angry scolding echoed in the morning air. The three people in the yard stopped and looked back at her, with disdainful smiles on their faces.
"Why, what we can give you is polite enough without starving you to death." One of them raised his eyebrows, his tone full of impatience.
Shen Nianshu stepped forward and glanced at the food on the table coldly. She reached out and picked up the hard steamed bun, with a tremor in her voice, "What do you mean, this is just the food for three people?"
The man sneered, put his hands on his hips, and looked provocative, "Huh, you like to eat or not, this is not the kind of place you used to have. It's good to eat some. The portions in each palace are the same, so I'm the one to blame. I can only blame the three of you..."
A flash of anger flashed in Shen Nianshu's eyes. She held the bun tightly, as if she wanted to knead all the humiliation and anger into the small dough.
She looked up at the three people, her eyes shining with determination, and said in her heart, "We will make you regret it."
Pearl bit her lower lip tightly to prevent her anger and humiliation from spilling out of her eyes.
"Miss, you can eat. We are not hungry." Pearl said softly and handed the food in her hand to Shen Nianshu.
Shen Nianshu looked at the thin figures of Pearl and Caiwei, and a warm current surged in her heart.
She shook her head slightly, broke the bun in her hand into two halves, and handed them to Pearl and Caiwei respectively .
"Now that we are in this field, you two are still willing to follow me. I can't thank you enough." Shen Nianshu's voice was soft but firm. She looked at Pearl and Caiwei with a sincere light shining in her eyes.
Pearl and Caiwei looked at each other and smiled, a trace of determination flashed in their eyes.
They knew that no matter what difficulties they encountered, they would stand with Shen Nianshu and face them together.
Shen Nianshu patted their hands gently to reassure them. She turned around and walked towards the three people, her eyes cold and firm.
"We will go out one day." Shen Nianshu's voice echoed in the air, with a hint of unquestionable determination.
The three of them sat around the simple table. Shen Nianshu smiled and said, "Eat quickly. We will share the blessings and share the hardships."
The sun shines on them through the windows, reflecting their firm and gentle faces. Pearl and Caiwei had tears in their eyes, but they took the steamed buns firmly and chewed them in small bites .
The three of them finished breakfast in silence. Shen Nianshu stood up and looked out the window firmly.
Shen Nianshu's eyes gradually became firmer, and she knew she could no longer just sit there and wait for death.
She must find a way to improve their living conditions, otherwise the three of them may not be able to persevere in such an environment.
She turned to look at Pearl and Caiwei , a trace of determination flashed in her eyes.
"Zhenzhu, Caiwei , we can't continue like this." There was a hint of determination in Shen Nianshu's voice, "We must find a way to change the status quo."
Pearl and Caiwei looked at each other, with a trace of worry flashing in their eyes. They knew that Shen Nianshu's idea was right, but they also knew that it was not easy to change the status quo.
Shen Nianshu took a deep breath, her eyes shining with wisdom.
Shen Nianshu turned around and saw a middle-aged woman standing at the door with a sarcastic smile on her face. Her eyes swept over Shen Nianshu and the other three, with a trace of disdain flashing in her eyes.
Just looking at her face, this woman gives off a domineering feeling.
"Yo yo yo , what a great bond between master and servant." The woman covered her mouth and chuckled, her voice high-pitched and harsh.
"Who did I think you were, but it turns out you are just a down-and-out phoenix."
Shen Nianshu frowned slightly. She didn't know this woman, but she could feel a strong hostility from her attitude and words.
Shen Nianshu asked coldly , "Who are you? Why are you here?"
The woman smiled proudly.
